  1. I have a lot of hope for JP to lead the Bills. Hopefully, he takes over the reins and takes a leadership role. Last year, Mularkey and crew really mishandled their young QB. Handing him the job did not endear him to many veterans, apparently. I like the way Dick Jauron is handling the team so far, it's a far cry from the "Meathead" approach of 2005.
  2. Intangibles like, mmmm, "throws like a girl"? Wasn't that the comment from the Carolina game analyst? I don't think he considered it an intangible, though.
  3. I have had great hopes for Kelsay for a couple years now, but he always seems to disappoint. Wow, good thing we nabbed Willis in the 1st round and waited until the 2nd for Kelsay! Can you imagine the grief if Chris K were a 1st round underachiever???
  4. We have a BINGO! To say that JP sucked last season is to simply ignore the fact that the front ofc and coaches put him in a position to fail - right from the start.
  5. Of course he's getting good press. He's with the Broncos. And the genius Mike Shanahan. Remember when the Bills played Denver in the pre-season 2 yrs ago? It was featured on "Sounds of the Game" show. Shanahan said about Losman "this kid's a player!" (or words to that effect) And doesn't Cutler have relatively tiny hands for a QB? (the one pre-draft knock on him)
  6. What I really like about Whitner: he is described as an instinctive player and student of the game. Football knowledge well beyond his years. Oh, a big hitter with 4.38 speed. Not too shabby. The holdout pissed me off a bit, but all is forgiven.
  7. I think it was the right pick, just the wrong negotiating strategy. Between 12.1 M and 15M, 12.9M seems like low-balling to me. That's what pisses me off about this whole thing. Give him the friggin money. It lowers my opinion of Donte as an instinctive football guy, too, unfortunately.
  8. Jack, is it still called the Carrier Dome? Or am I way behind on my corporate sponsorship knowledge? Isn't Carrier a heating and cooling company?
  9. LOL! That's a great image of the Iraqi press secretary/spin doctor talking big, while Abrams tanks roll by in the background. (Well, perhaps i've extrapolated a bit...) What was that guy's name, anyway?
  10. I think Fowler will be a great addition at center. And Reyes should be a capable LG, which I suspect will improve Gandy's play at LT as well, not having to cover up for Fat Bennie. So I am content with the upgrades.
  11. This is a point that gives me hope for the 2006 OL, that Gandy will not have to cover for Fat Bennie's shortcomings. While Gandy is not a world-beater, I think he is an adequate LT solution for now. I'm happy with the Reyes signing, and very happy to have Melvin Fowler at center.
  12. Probably because "doomed" sells more newspapers than happy. I like the new roster as well, think the OL will be much better (without the 2 big lumps of deadwood). I'm optimistic, but what the heck do I know? Just trying to have some fun.
  13. But then he seemed to like Tampa's trade-up for OL Kenyatta Walker, too!
  14. This is the point most Willis bashers choose to ignore. Willis was asked a loaded question about "who is the best RB?" Naturally, he picks himself, but mentions some other guys. People can't seem to figure out WM's personality, and the way it makes him seem like he does not give a **** about "the team" and all. Or makes him look like a "me" guy. There was a great little story about Willis running into Ralph Wilson at a bar (at an athletic club?) in Miami. I wish I had the quotes, but the gist was that Willis says WM: "Are you Wilson?" yadda yadda WM: "You play tennis?" wilson replies that he does WM: "I could beat you..." It was a great insight into Willis and his thought process...
  15. Yeah, Teague can make all the calls on the line... especially, "LOOK OUT, here comes the nose tackle!!!" They are lucky they drafted Mangold, who was one of the most "NFL ready" players in the draft, IIRC.
  16. I think you are being ridiculous here. Not every player has to be a "leader". Willis seems like the kind of guy who is just not going to kiss the butts of fans who want him to train with the team. Many players from the U train together down there, and they are certainly not lounging on the beach. (The link has expired, but I can post the whole article if you wish) And you talk about Jerry Sullivan being a bitter man? Holy crap, you sure seem to have issues. Like every player from the old regime should be kicked to the curb? Just for the sake of change? Lindell had a good year last year, much to the surprise of MOST OF US, I'm sure.
  17. I was a bit surprised the other day when Pyrite Gal referred to his/her own spouse as "she" (or was it "her"?). So perhaps the Gal is a he/him? PG's longwindedness made the female persona seem likely, but maybe we have been deceived (not that we really give a dang regarding PG's gender, but as long you brought it up...)
  18. I remember QB Chuck Fusina... sorry, no Joey Dusina, though
  19. No, you actually just happen to know all 3 families that have moved back! Just kidding, of course, too bad it's not funny. What kind of work do these families' bread winners do? There just do not seem to be opportunities in the Buffalo area. When I visit the area, I am amazed to see growth i.e., new restaurants, stores, etc. I wonder what folks do for a living there. I work in engineering, and had to leave 14 years ago to find work elsewhere.
  20. Lately, I have been reviewing old VHS tapes and converting the stuff to DVDs. I just came across a Zest soap ad featuring Ironhead (when he was with the Rams). The big guy is taking a shower and says he is "Zestfully clean!" The ad includes a brief shot of him blocking a linebacker to the ground.
  21. I would not mind signing up for a "bean bag classic", but cornhole? Geez, doesn't anybody do their homework (research) before naming these things?!
  22. To those who knew Paul personally, you have my deepest sympathy. We can only be consoled by the fact that Paul is now re-united with his wife. Rest in peace, man.
  23. They have already "covered up" thousands of seats in their stadium, pretending they are not really there. Jax may not be able to support a team for very long...
  24. Jay Leno had a funny bit on last night. It featured "Doug Flutie" behind a podium, giving his speech - only the forehead visible above the podium, with arms flailing on the sides. A pretty good chuckle - unless you're in the little guy's fan club.
