  1. I have to agree with you, Maddog. Something about Frazier bothers me. They say he is of that soft-spoken Tony Dungy nature. Dungy addresses his team in a soft voice, and says "you will not hear me speak any louder than this during the season." (or words to that effect) Apparently, that works for Dungy, but I have some reservations about that style of coaching. They say that Frazier can "command a room" or whatever, but I just don't know... So, to answer the OP's question: Brian Schottenheimer would be my choice. We need a great offensive mind. The fact that his dad played for the Bills is an added bonus.
  2. I think Zimmer would an excellent HC. He is a take-no-crap guy, was picked by Parcells as his DC. Works for me. I am liking Frazier less and less for some reason - former DB, perhaps? ;-) I don't think McDermott has enough DC experience to become HC.
  3. Hey, sorry to play Miss Grundy here, but do you know what "penultimate" really means? It doesn't mean the latest and greatest. It means "second to last". How the hell somebody came up with a word for second last I'll never know. It is a pretty hard word to use correctly. Sorry for the correction, Pooj, but now you can whip this "penultimate" gag on people at work.
  4. Dude, you spelled it wrong, too. Wise guy. Terrence is the correct spelling.
  5. Hey, Clockwork, nice avatar! Looks like Carl Mauck - or maybe Chris Farley... Well, you'll have plenty of time for coaching offensive lines when you're LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!
  6. Eric Berry did not look very impressive in the Vols' bowl game. Did not resemble a top-10 pick. But bowl games probably do not weigh heavily in evaluating players.
  7. I think his statements pretty much confirm what seemed to be true already - Michael Vick is an idiot. Oh, but he has been through sooo much hardship... more than 95% of the world's population. What a douche.
  8. I asked my wife NOT to buy me any more Bills gear this year. Perhaps in the future, but I am pretty fed up with this crew right about now...
  9. LOL! I'm happy for JP too, but the Raiders? Yeeesh.
  10. I guess that is what defines NFL mediocrity. Beat the weak teams, get clobbered by any good teams. Stay right in the middle, so you don't get any blue chip draft picks. Mediocre all the way. It really sucks.
  11. You know, John, I had been wondering if Eric Wood's injury could have been prevented if there had been even borderline adequate tackle protection on that play. A decent OT may have kept that DL from diving after the ball carrier back there in the pocket. Just my conjecture. I have not analyzed the video.
  12. During the game, they said of the 20 guys the Browns had drafted in rounds 1 - 3 from 1999-2004, ZERO are currently with the Browns. And 11 guys are out of football. THAT is some piss-poor drafting.
  13. Or are you thinking of Richie Incognito of the Rams? He is a pretty flaky guy.
  14. I would be happy with Mike Zimmer (a Parcells guy) or the Vikings' DC Leslie Frazier. I don't think either of these guys is the next Gregg Williams. Zimmer, especially, would be a hell of a good hire IMO. Oh yeah, got to get a decent GM!
  15. Ross Tucker says that RG is the most important interior spot and your best guy should go there. I had wondered why they wanted Wood at RG, but this article filled me in. It's Tucker's opinion, but seems credible. Rating the offensive line positions based on difficulty http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...ings/index.html
  16. Absolutely! The fear-based coaching and QBing is gone! Cast out by Fitz and Fewell! It was fun to watch a Bills game again!!!
  17. Two of the best HC-candidate coordinators out there seem to be: Vikings DC Leslie Frazier Bengals DC Mike Zimmer
  18. So what about this Gruden deal: "Hey we tried hard to get this guy" but he wants to keep his TV job... What kind of crap is that? No notice of interview (those events are usually public knowledge, eh?), just "Oh we tried." Is this Gruden stuff just fabricated? Any thoughts on the Gruden thing?
  19. I came home from work, saw one of the article summaries on TBD: "Jauron leaves Buffalo with a 24-33 record" Jauron leaves?!?! Woo-hooooooo!!!!! A couple years late, but very happy to see it. And the report that Brandon is looking for a GM - it's one of the missing pieces. It is a good day.
  20. There is a problem with these "hey, we can still make the playoffs" scenarios. When you reach the playoffs, you must face competent, well-coached teams. Hmmm... now what? So, Reddy Freddy, would getting clobbered in the wild card game provide suitable hope for you? Would that be fun? I would not call you crazy, but naive certainly seems to fit.
  21. And the Colts offer was - what was it called - a poison pill? Something in the contract that stipulated Wolford must be the highest paid OL or highest paid offensive player, something that the Bills just could not match because of other offensive salaries. Does anyone know the full details of the Wolford deal? Clever work by the Colts.
  22. It is almost bizarre to read the article where McCargo talks all about Mario Williams, gushing about MW's work ethic and all. Hey pal, doesn't any of that sound do-able for you?!?! What a bust.
  23. Don't you feel good about having Wood and Levitre inside? They looked bad yesterday, but have looked good (well, better than Dockery) at times this year. My hope is that they move Wood to Center. Butt-kickin' guards are easier to come by than centers, it seems to me. I would not mind seeing 2 OTs taken in, say, the 2nd and 4th rounds in 2010. But your call for 3 OLs does not make sense. I understand where you are coming from, though.
