  1. Oh yeah, I always enjoyed it when John From Hemet referred to him as Shrobel. Hi john!
  2. I think it sucked that he didn't care enough to keep his team informed of what he was going to do. And pretending he might wanna show up at training camp "oh I'll take a couple of weeks". What a lame-ass attitude. Like the guy has no people skills. I expect more from a guy like that. Pretty lame the way he handled himself, IMO.
  3. I suppose Youngstown State would be considered as a lower level of competition than the bigger schools, so that could be a factor. He has got those nice measurables, maybe the intangibles are lacking. May be one of those training camp surprises. Hopefully, but Marcus Easley seems more likely to grab a WR spot.
  4. Good points, mattsox. And your Goodbye Dick avatar is a prize winner! I was hoping to photoshop a picture of Ralph dropping Dick off (well, kicking him out of the PT Cruiser) at some mythical junction of routes 7 and 9. But I'm not that good at Photoshop.
  5. A recent Bills' DL Corey Mace was a 2nd round CFL draft pick. The Bills got him as a UDFA, so that's one case that illustrates the difference between the leagues a little bit. Occasionally, CFL players transition to the NFL, but it is very rare. I miss having Canadian TV available and CFL especially.
  6. Tear down the Peace Bridge (in lieu of the out-of-town goal posts)! And carry it to city hall!
  7. hoo-hoo-hoo!!! LOL - what a great song reference! (not sure how to spell the refrain to the song - hoo hoo hoo)
  8. For some reason, Forrest Gump's line "I'm not a smart man." keeps popping into my head whenever Lynch speaks. Marshawn is an odd sort of chap. I wonder how he will play in a competently-designed offense. I'm excited, too, Marshawn, but not about the Jets.
  9. Bill, I do not think there was Ralph's hand in this selection. I think it was Chan, seeking to find the best offensive bang for his buck. That was the quickest first round selection I can ever recall (and I have watched the draft religiously for many years). As you mentioned, the rest of the picks show a desire to get the team bigger, stronger, and harder working! You may have grieved over the lack of OT pick until later (I agree to an extent), but after the 1st 2 OTs, the dropoff was quite dramatic. I'm pretty happy with the new FO, and I think Chan is the right guy for this team. I am excited about the possibilities.
  10. PTR Have you ever seen the TV show called 25 Years of Pop, or some such title, on HDNet? It has Trevor Horn doing a Buggles tune.
  11. Did anyone here see Tom Waits at the Century Theatre circa 1974, probably opening for hmmmm, Bonnie Raitt? The double live LP Nighthawks At The Diner was great, in a gravelly sort of Tom Waits way y'know.
  12. Margarita most of the time. Jose Cuervo and some lime-ish mixer. Cubes or crushed, depends on mood. Mmmmmmm... In the beer world, Molson Canadian. Blue Moon (hold the orange slice) is great.
  13. minicamp Wow, shifts and motion! Plus the ability to use guys like Roscoe and Spiller in creative ways. It should be a very interesting season.
  14. No, you enjoy beating this dead horse, apparently. Are you saying that Bills fans always turn optimistic when a new regime comes in, and there is a renewed glimmer of hope? I'm not sure who you are accusing of being optimistic (on and off perhaps) over the last ten years. Good lord, people should KNOW BETTER than to have hope for this bunch.
  15. Hey, Nanker hit on all the major I can see as well. Some folks here are just perpetual downers - some still pine for Bill Cowher ferchrisakes. I love the direction Gailey and Nix are taking the Bills. Yes, no games won or lost yet, but it is clear to see the foundations of a good strong team being built in Buffalo. I am very excited to see what the new regime can do on the field on Sundays.
  16. Bust mode. Perfect! I thought Marshawn's mother was going to be living in the area. Does he live with his uncle and brother? So I wonder where he gets his advise - if he listens to anyone. I was hoping he would have that head-removal-from-rectum surgery in the off-season, but I guess it did not happen. Maybe the dreadlocks got stuck or something. What a shame - another first round bust.
  17. Well, apparently the rotation is already determined ahead of time. It's not based on the last 2 days' results. I am very excited for what these guys can do with some strong offensive coaching. That has been lacking for too many years for the Bills.
  18. It all depends on Nix and Gailey, I might add. I think the improved coaching from an offensive-minded veteran coach will make a big difference in QB play. Offensively, Gailey has a clue -- AND a plan! Last year's mess (firing the OC in August, putting a rookie OC in by default) was disgraceful. The OLine business (cutting your reluctant LT, having no viable option) was equally shameful. I do not believe we will embarrassed by what the Bills do in 2010. Good riddance to the Dick Jauron era.
  19. Hey, Owen, welcome to Miss Grundy's Two Bills Drive! Any little slip-up using the English language will bring out the scholars who will gladly correct you (perhaps not so politely). Miss Grundy was a teacher in the old Archie comics. It is one of the classic TBD obscure references. I really like the Chan Gailey hire. He is a great offensive mind and seems to be a take-no-crap sort of guy. Very different than Dick Jauron. I love it. And I too like the fresh approach to personnel, where Gailey is not beholden to the previous regime's decisions.
  20. One of the post-draft reports had said that Levi Brown had the quickest release among all QBs drafted this year. I don't know if it was the combine numbers or quite where it came from, but it is very interesting point if it is true. I had only seen Brown in a bowl game, when Troy played Central Michigan and the great Dan Lefevour. Both QBs looked pretty good as I recall (unscientifically).
  21. Key phrase in your post: IMO The Seattle deal was probably for their #6 (just guessing). You say the Bills could have had Cody. Obviously, they preferred Troup. They could have had Clausen. Again, not interested. Two chances. The pundits would have graded that draft an A. Would that warm your heart? Mel's opinion doesn't mean jack. Or any of those talking heads. Even a "former NFL quarterback".
  22. Absolutely. And like Buddy said, AVP is great guy, but he had never been a QB coach, never been a coordinator. But a week or so before the 2009 season starts, he is thrust into both roles. Thanks a lot, Dick! I believe this coaching staff will be able to much more with the previous talent. Some of the rookies will add to the offense also. Chan has a plan - and a clue!
  23. Absolutely! Once those big guys start going off the board, you have got to strike! Funny about Cam Thomas and guys like that, who drop down several rounds --- b b but my MOCK DRAFT said he was better than Troup! Auggghhh!!!
  24. Bingo! These are "value" picks, it seems. Many posters (myself included) had never heard of Carrington, so can't handle him as our 3rd rounder. Posters have heard of QB Clausen and OT Campbell, so the "name" guy should be taken, and Buddy is wrong. Funny to see how Bulaga, even Derrick Morgan (3rd DE if you include Graham) have fallen from the grace bestowed upon them by all these mock drafts. The mock drafts, of course are NOT created by scouts and personnel guys. They are too busy out scouting. So the hack writers and bloggers put out their mocks, based on other guys' mocks most likely. And here we are. Some of us enjoying it - while others gnash their teeth with every pick. One more day, then the UDFAs. Happy draft day(s), everyone!
  25. Thanks for the input. It's nice to hear Troup info from someone at UCF. I was hoping for an OT, but we need NT as well, so I am excited about Troup as the Bills' NT.
