  1. Bill-ch! Oops, there's dinner coming back up.
  2. Start with Ralph Wilson's heart, you mean? It would probably look like the heart of Old Man Potter, who owns most of Bedford Falls and let's his subjects live there. Just as Bills fans are allowed to attend football games featuring their hometown team. Like Mr Potter, Mr Wilson does not maintain these shacks, just keeps a marginal 4 walls and a roof. I wonder how many players the Bills would have if they were not required to keep a roster of 53. And when George Bailey says "I wish I'd never been born a Bills fan!", it's time for Clarence the Angel to step in...
  3. cue Mrs Krabappel: "Ha ha."
  4. Hey FFiB, welcome back. The Bills/Fins rivalry seems to have changed a lot, like it's more a case that we pity the other team from time to time rather than having a heated rivalry. With 2 good teams, and 2 also-rans in the AFC East, I think the Bills and Fins would rather just beat one of the good teams and not care so much about beating the other also-ran. That's just my impression anyway. I recall the fun about 4 years ago, it was Haiku time when Fins week was here. With the Bills in such a putrid state now, I find it hard to care about the Fins any more. So you Fin fans will be starting over with a new HC again. Sparano seemed pretty good at times, but then could not get the job done. I would wish the Fins luck, but I would be lying. ;-) Hey I enjoyed that Denver game when your stadium was full of Gator fans celebrating Tebow (and the Gators' championship). We have a Tebow-fest coming up on Christmas Eve.
  5. As an organization, that would require recognizing that YOU HAVE A PROBLEM EVALUATING TALENT. Admitting you have a problem is the difficult first step. There was talk back then that the Marshawn pick was a Ralph Wilson selection, as well as the 4th round RB Dwayne Wright that same year. Don't know how true this might be. Does the old man chime in when he sees some player he has heard of?
  6. Perhaps Buddy found out that Ralph is a vampire, and can live more than 500 years...
  7. And it is clear that Thigpen does not have a clue about playing NFL quarterback. They should draft a franchise QB if they see one this year. Sorry about the sucky defense.
  8. This is my sentiment on QB, but I was thinking Landry Jones. RG3 would be a better option IMO.
  9. I seem to recall that Dareus or Gabbert line from Nix, too, after the draft. And that is very scary about Bills personnel evaluation. Like they don't have a clue. I liked Gabbert too after reading some things about him. But what the hell do fans know - watching these guys in games or Senior Bowls? Gabbert did look lost on Monday night. And, boy did we ever get lucky that Denver fell in love with Von Miller in the week or two before the draft. It forced the Bills to make a good pick.
  10. Tony played for Calgary Stampeders, I believe. I don't know how his season went. If you had read the whole story about Tony Washington, you might not have that snotty attitude towards him. Unfortunately, I can not find the link to Tony's story, but it was a huge injustice done to him. Edit: found the link Tony Washington
  11. Thanks for your post. That thread about Kelsay was just absurd.
  12. This is a great story - thank you for posting it. Education is great thing, especially in these difficult times. I earned a masters degree a few years ago, in my late 50s, so it really is never too late.
  13. If there is a poster who believes Kelsay is "awesome", please chime in. Probably no Bills fan considers him awesome. And your suggestion that criticizing Kelsay is taboo, well, it is just nonsense. That Kelsay more or less sucks as an OLB - it's just old news.
  14. Paup, I absolutely agree. I have lost a lot of respect for Chan with the way he has let this team tumble. He is no longer my hero. And to Dick Drawn, this is a great thread. So much rational thought in one post on TSW is rather stunning. There are a few fans that could run a pretty good war room, and draft the right guys, the unglamorous guys that are the foundation of a strong team. Maybe the new white helmets should have had a "L" on the front, just above the face mask...
  15. I thought Yes/No/You gotta be kidding would be the choices. No will have to suffice. Fitz is a great guy, but has serious limitations compared with the "elite" big boys. Subject to any fan's opinion, there are only a handful of "elite" QBs out there. Not every team gets one - and many teams do not even know how to DEVELOP such a guy if they happen to draft him.
  16. Where are the optimists? Ha! Kicked in the teeth again by their own damn team! That is what happens to optimists. It reminds me of the "definition of insanity": keep doing the same thing and expecting different results! I count myself among the optimists. At least this year, our Bills desperation held off until mid-November. It usually comes by early October, so this (5-2 before collapsing) is kind of a bonus.
  17. This sums it up nicely for me, too. I am not asking for a dynasty. I would like one Super Bowl win, and then the team can implode the following season. Whatever. I have been a Bills fan since we played football in the street, pretending to be Jack Kemp and Elbert Dubenion, about 45 years ago. How to remain a fan when you know you are going to be kicked in the cajones shortly after the season begins each year? Hopefully, you learn to invest less emotion in the team as time goes on. It used to be painful when the Bills lost one of those gut-wrenching losses. Now I just take it as something I can not control, so I try not to get too up or down about it. On the bright side, Bills fans did not have to start thinking about the next draft until late November this year, while normally early October brings Bills fans visions of draftable sugar plums dancing in our heads. So, happy holidays!
  18. It is very interesting (and painful) to watch other teams and see these PASS RUSHERS. Wow, who are these guys and how can the Bills get one or two? Oh, you have to draft them? Darn, Bills have no clue how to select a pass rusher. Except that one guy back in 1985... Painful to watch these Bills. Are they demoralized by the loss of Eric Wood??? Could that be it? Like the other thread says: "What the hell is going on in that locker room these days?" Yikes.
  19. The Bills new logo is pretty funny. It's worth a chuckle or two.
  20. Didn't the Bills retain the DB coach Catavolos (sp?)? The same guy who coached DBs under Jauron?
  21. Chan is my hero. More than just winning games (although that is a BIG part), he has changed the culture of our Buffalo Bills. And wasn't it cool to see Mike Shanahan all pissed off on the other side of the field Sunday. In your face, Shanny!
  22. What a sad day. I remember that story someone related about Kent riding in the equipment van behind Jim Kelly's limo. That seems so appropriate for this blue collar gentleman. Check out the video where he is visiting the children's hospital. What a guy. Rest in peace, #67.
  23. Chris Berman wished Ralph a happy birthday on the MNF halftime show. I thought that was pretty cool. Many happy returns to you, sir!
  24. Correct. Buffalo and Cinci (#3 and 4) got the gig because 1 and 2, Denver and Carolina were changing coaches.
  25. Agreed. I thought they were a reasonable crew (a few screwups), but a great relief from enduring another Tasker game.
