  1. There is no reason for Gailey to continue to coach this team or for Fitz to be the QB - none at all. Nix will continue to give his weak excuse that turnover is always bad. It isn't bad when the guys you currently have in place are inept and will never work out.

Another side effect of this is that C.J. Spiller is very unlikely to re-enlist with a team which grossly misuses his talents.

Can you imagine what CJ could do with good coaching/play calling??? Good lord. Someone in the front office should consider that aspect of the Bills' "near future".

  2. Reports (and his own Facebook posts) say that Rolando McClain will be released by the Raiders this week. He had a ton of talent and upside at one point (#8 pick in the draft) and heard that he did not fit well with Dennis Allen from a friend in Oakland but has a short history of underperforming and shooting guns during fights. He did have 99 tackles and 5 sacks last year and is only 23 years old. With the state of our linebackers, what do we think?

Will he be allowed to use a gun while filling the MLB slot? That might be what Sheppard needs to stop RBs in the hole.

  3. However I've always been skeptical that in a Super Bowl, that bulletin board material would really make a difference in motivating a team.

If our Bills clowns could not even get to bed at midnight or whatever (staying out all night instead), they were very likely trash talking, too.

And old Marv "treating them like men" (letting them stay out all night, etc) did not work so well - four years in a row. At some point, those Bills and their Harvard-educated coach are just acting stupid.

Party til you puke! Oh, there's a game tomorrow???

  4. Was there bad blood between polian and Wilson like with butler...I would assume all is well if they honored polian.

There was an incident where Ralph's daughter (Linda Bogdan, IIRC) was working as a scout (I think), and at some point Polian referred to her with the B-word (or was it the C-word?). I recall that as a breaking point between Wilson and Polian.

You can probably look this up somewhere for more detail.

  5. historically, the success rate of Qbs by rd goes as follows:

    rd 1: 50%

    rd 2: 33%

    rd3-7: 15%

    undrafted: 2%

Its not difficult to figure out, 1st rd QB's are most likely to succeed. Do your homework, trust the scouts to look for the right things, and take a QB early.

    Thanks for doing that homework!

I am tired of 3rd rate QBs who "might" develop. Throw some coins in the fountain and wish!

I am in favor of trading up for one of the top 2 or 3 QBs. No more farting around at QB, please.

  6. Wasn't everyone here last year screaming how the Bills need to put the defensive guru named Wannstadt in as D Co-Ordinator to get rid of George Edwards?

I can't wait til next season when everyone will be screaming how the Bills need to hire a new D Co-Ordinator to replace the defensive Guru Nolan/Phillips/Ryan/Mangini/etc when that doesn't work out to their liking.

Of course, but folks did not know Wannstedt would bring his 1980s thinking with him!

We expected the guy to be current with defensive football of the 21st century.

Fans know nothing. Unfortunately, our head coach seems to know nothing about defense.

  7. This is from a Buffalo News article back in May:

"Signing with the Bills was more special to me, beyond football, because my kicking coach, Greg Cater, punted here," Powell said, referring to the Bills' punter from 1980 to 1983. "So I've always talked about the Bills. I have a Bills Greg Cater jersey. He told me if I made all-state in high school, he'd give me one of his jerseys, so I have one. It was just weird when I got the call from the Bills. It's like full circle."

Cater now works as a pastor in Rome, Ga. But he has been working with Powell since he was 16 on his punting mechanics.

"From the first time I worked with him it was obvious he was special," Cater said. "I remember the first time I let him tee the ball up and kick off for me at Darlington [high school]. There's a row of evergreens behind the end zone. He nailed that thing over the evergreens. I said, 'You've got the leg strength. All we need to do is point you in the right direction.'"

PS: I wish TSW posters would stop confusing Potter and Powell. It's not that difficult to figure out...

  8. I'm not impressed that Chan was impressed.

I'm not the Chan fan I once was. His blind/stupid loyalty to sub-par player/friends will doom him and set us up for more misery.

In another thread, some posters put it exactly as I thought after the win: The Bills won in spite of Chan, not because of him.

    BA

    You got it, Bud!

I used to be a Chan fan, but he has lost my admiration.

Fitz has regressed, and I wonder if the David Lee mechanics course has confused his Harvard brain. His arm has always been a weak point, but I thought fixing his mechanics would help. He has become a less accurate, weaker-armed QB since lat year.
