Question about Offensive Linemen Versitility
BillsWatch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It partially depends on scheme. Some schemes call for stronger, larger players and others more mobile but smaller players which can shift and cut like Denver. It appears the Bills tried to do a combo line before mixing heavier players with agile ones and never got them in sync. -
Someone send a website to Sullivan to teach him how to do Hari kari.
-
It is not the budget cuts - it is the quality of the writers they employ. Almost all of the best writers move on to other places but the remainder continue writing with their work 'syndicated' by AP and other press trying to get 'local' coverage.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. Bye Bye JP.
BillsWatch replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks TC; we needed this a lot more than yet another skooby "scoop". My daughter has one of those scoops to and a bag to put it in when she walks our dog. Clearly Ed Kilgore gets JP issue when Allen Wilson doesn't. http://www.wgrz.com/sports/story.aspx?storyid=65944 So the non bombshell news that the Bills have dealt the "Pro Bowl", and we use the term loosely this season, left tackle to the Philadelphia Eagles for a #1 pick, 28th overall, and a 4th round pick in the 2009 draft and a 6th round pick in 2010, strikes me as a move the Bills were wise to make under the circumstances. Forget the money Peters will get from the Eagles, a reported 4 years and $53 million on top of the two years he had left on his Bills contract, with a boatload of cash up front. The Eagles clearly aren't concerned what kind of message this sends to the rest of the team, because Peters didn't hold out on them like he did with the Bills. Peters, on the other hand, simply disappeared last year and then showed up only when he had to for the first regular season game, when continuing the holdout would start costing him paychecks. Peters clearly wasn't ready to play, and obviously gave no thought about how that effected his teammates, who knew very well Peters still had THREE years left on a deal he had renegotiated just a year before. http://www.buffalonews.com/274/story/644252.html What is even more curious is the fact that the Bills aren't getting ripped by fans over this trade. Judging from e-mails I've read and chat rooms I've visited, a lot of people are OK with it. They are turned off by Peters' contract demands and his long holdout last year. Others just don't think his play warrants such a large pay increase. Allen Wilson wanted to pay on Peter's potential. Too bad too many here think like Allen Wilson but newspaper writers these days seem to want to stir up issues not actually cover entire issue not even mentioning holdout once or his contract signed year before. -
Once again NATO catches and releases. UN needs to find a way to get a handle on this situation. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090419/ap_on_re_af/piracy The pirates hurled weapons into the dark seas as the Canadian and U.S. warships closed in. "The skiff abandoned the scene and tried to escape to Somali territory," Fernandes said. "It was heading toward Bossaso we managed to track them ... warning shots have been made after several attempts to stop the vessel." Both ships deployed helicopters, and naval officers hailed the pirates over loudspeakers and finally fired warning shots to stop them, Fernandes said, but not before the pirates had dumped most of their weapons overboard. NATO forces boarded the skiff, where they found a rocket-propelled grenade, and interrogated, disarmed and released the pirates.

That is like saying you shouldn't shoot armed rioters breaking into a store because in past some other urban dwellers were poorly treated. Each should be treated separately.

Suspend all state colleges for two years
BillsWatch replied to RLflutie7's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
All of the students not working would go into labor pool not helping unemployment issues. You are also assuming incorrectly that all of those students would have places to go which is over simplification. And what makes you think "rich" people go to college - is this because you have not be able to get into college and you blame it on not having enough money? There are jobs for those who pick in demand subjects and do well; I know my company is hiring and is hiring right out of school due to how much government is willing to pay now. If you pick something general or expect to make a fortune in first job you are going to be looking for a job for a while. -
Team Fan Appreciation - For the Mods also
BillsWatch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You over estimate number of fans who go to these sites especially to post. Many sites have registered users who register there and after a short period of time not go back for a long time. The most vocal fans go on to the sites especially to post; they do not represent the majority of the fans. On all three sites you mention they do not even subtract out banned users from number of registered users. Take a look at one of the web rating sites and you will see how few (relatively) how many fans go to boards. -
Caught the tail end of radio Report
BillsWatch replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Remember who is special teams coach with Redsucks - Danny Smith who used to be Gregg's special teams coach. Being traded to Washington would not be good for Parrish. Oh an last thing I heard Washington traded their 4th round pick to Jets. -
Best NFL draft investment is a 2nd-round pick
BillsWatch replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Travis Henry was a good RB for Bills on the field until front office "got smart" and drafted Willis rather than spending money and pick elsewhere. -
A lot of these jerseys are actual ones but they failed QA inspection hence they were "destroyed" and went into secondary market overseas. My wife is from Hong Kong and used to be a QA inspector; the factories would often try to bribe (often successfully) company purchaser reps to accept them despite not meeting standards. How good the jersey is depends on how good the QA inspector was and for what reason they failed. I saw some authentic jerseys on sale in Hong Kong for $25 but they were rejected because the bottom tail was cut wrong. Subject should be updated to say a lot more for shipping.

Best NFL draft investment is a 2nd-round pick
BillsWatch posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/30228218/ Fans get excited about first-round picks. General managers get excited about second-round picks. The teams sitting in the catbird seat are the teams with multiple second rounders — the Patriots, who have three, and the Browns, Dolphins and Giants, who have two apiece. Great article by Pompei but not so great that we do not have extra 2nd round picks. Maybe that '28th is really a 2nd round pick' (sounds like someone with fact issues) is a good thing. -
Are you saying nicely that he takes the short bus to work at Goodwill?
-
The biggest problem is when they DO catch them often they let them go over jurisdiction matters. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090418/ap_on_re_af/af_piracy Seven Somali pirates were detained, but they were soon released because "NATO does not have any detainment policy," Fernandes said. The seven could not be arrested or held because they were seized by Dutch nationals and neither the pirates, the victims nor the ship were Dutch, he explained. What message does this send to pirates? Sort of like NFLPA and players holding out with all of the player apologists.
-
Not necessarily if he is arrested that guarenteed money can be withheld. You also need to subtract whatever bonuses he would have earned last year had he not held out as well as the money he was penalized for missing mandatory camp and practices. Of course in a few years when there is no salary cap and some players are payed like baseball/basketball players by high revenue teams he will hold out again all preseason before missing end of season.

Dominic Rhodes signed for 2 years

Exaggeration is a tool of those unarmed in battle of wits. All of these players competed in college hence they are not high school level. -
Dominic Rhodes signed for 2 years
BillsWatch replied to Nostradumbass's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Closer to being dumb asses on this board. Rhodes is a good blocker including picking up blitzers. Fred Jackson is also used on punt returns so it gives him a break on first play after punt return. -
And no I am not talking about on the wall..... http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nflnation/0-7-2...ters-trade.html

Jests complain about schedule for religious reasons
BillsWatch replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
New York Jests need be more proactive next year with their requests scheduling construction or something else to prevent this from occurring. Maybe some group will hold a protest outside the stadium exits preventing drivers from getting out. Someone did something similar in DC area clogging exit traffic for hours! -
But he was in the Pro Bowl (well not actually he was too injured to play but not so injured to be in training room during end of season) so he had to be the best player in the league for those 13 games he played in. Right?
-
I think there should be a "hole" in roof of stadium in Buffalo but not a dome. Enough to let weather in but enough to make stands covered, prevent burying of seats in snow, etc.

Does Peters pass or run block better?
BillsWatch replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Equally both - pass on showing up for work and running to the money. I think he will be next Jonas Jennings which many posters were insisting "pay him the money".
