NFL Network and Comcast close to a deal?
BillsWatch replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No Dian - why should I? I do not pay for Lifetime Network so why should I exchange a cost of zero for anything? You think I have a Florida education? Now if you could take cost of Fox News channel and I might make a deal. -
NFL Network and Comcast close to a deal?
BillsWatch replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great for those who want to watch NFL Network without having to pay full costs themselves but terrible for those who do not have any interest or want to pay increased cable cost which will be distributed to all subscribers. Personally it does not affect me since I do not have Comcast. It is already on digital tier with Cox. -
Any interesting article by Ross Tucker on Javon Walker and his surgery. I think it brings to light much on medical care in NFL. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...lker/index.html Many veteran players feel the qualifications to become a team doctor are questionable because they suspect a lot of the hires are based upon the amount of money the orthopedic surgeon or orthopedic group offers to pay the team to be its "official" health care solution. Just as important, the team doctor, by definition, works for the team and is beholden to its interests, which aren't always aligned with a players's interests. Because of these conflicts of interest, players like to consult with someone else should a health issue arise. This often takes the form of an official second opinion, an option that has been collectively bargained and requires the club to pay for the expenses surrounding a player's visit. In return, a copy of the report is provided to the club. The underlined section appears representative of the NFL Owner / Player relationship - they do not trust each other and business partners which do not trust each other have rocky relationships. Ross Tucker played in NFL for multiple teams and perhaps you remember he continued playing for Bills with a back injury because he said the team needed him. Unfortunately because he waited until off-season for surgery he was not up to full strength and was cut in camp; if he had surgery later his chances of making roster was probably better. Regarding Tucker's situation I do not remember if he consulted an outside doctor or if the doctor who performed surgery was team doctor but if so the results may contribute to his statement that "many" veteran players distrust motive of team and money involved in becoming team doctor. I have never heard that doctors pay teams to be official team medical provider believing that teams paid doctors for care but it could be both - doctors pay a fee to be official team provider and teams pay doctors for work done. Regarding the section in red it seems similar to real estate agents except the doctor is subject to Hypocrites Oath and more importantly medical boards often composed of rival doctors. I do not think the doctors would recommend postponing vital medical care but I do think there is enough self interest to be less concerned about the players' long term career. I personally have seen doctors use testing companies outside of insurance plans which cost more in which they happen to have financial interests. The section in blue seems to substantiate that NFL Players Union like with everything in NFL distrusts everything except their lawyers and agents with many of them not having the players best interest often ripping them off.

Maybe if Terminator is canceled maybe Summer can replace Miracle Laurie's character Mellie who was freed with contract fulfilled.

Fox plans to continue the show on Fridays next fall. No such luck for you. Looks like Reeper and Chuck also are being renewed. I watch very little TV and this is good for me. Maybe TV Executives are getting smarter and realizing Neilson Ratings are very over rated because many of the same shows are viewed by same households? Nah.

I use Google translator to read it Oliver although only French I know is kissing. I know the translator is not perfect but the prose is often better which is posted on this board or in blogs. -

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/11746261 Schonert has some of the best skill players in the league in running back Marshawn Lynch and wide receivers Evans and Owens. But as we all know, having skill players does not translate into points if the offensive line is not playing well. Getting Trent Edwards to become quicker with his decisions will help the line. Finding an edge blocker at tight end will help both tackles in pass protection and might allow the Bills to have a strongside run game, something that was not always consistent in 2008. The Bills have a lot riding on this season, and it will take the best of every player, coach and front office member to reach the playoffs. My good friend, Eric Musselman, the former Golden State Warriors coach, always talked to his team about each player improving 10 percent, each coach improving 10 percent and each executive improving 10 percent. That would make the team 30 percent stronger than the previous year -- and likely resulting in a playoff appearance. Michael Lombardi and his good friend do not know match - percentages improving do not add up like he is trying to do. Math like that is what caused Wall Street collapse besides unlimited greed. I also do not agree we have some of the best skill players in the league. If you took them and put them replacing those on a playoff team I do not think it would improve and many teams (i.e. Colts, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Giants) would get worse. -
I thought that was because the Federal Government pays for the bad things that occur in Florida but NY taxes pay for bad things which happen to NY. When you are 70 years old it is a lot easier to deal with occasional billion dollar storm paid for by Uncle Sam than shoveling 3-5 months on your own.

Can Buffalo crowds get this loud?

Sounds like it is a good design unless all you care about is getting your waiter to bring you imported wine. -
Not surprisingly, Bills tickets are lowest priced
BillsWatch replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You have not heard the rank and file season ticket holders say they will be willing to pay 5-10-20-30 more a ticket, just fans on boards with many of them without season tickets. When prices go up the Bills lose sales but hope enough new people buy tickets to make up difference thru marketing and hope. The Bills have the lowest price in market to sell them. Look at some the really cheap seats like Coors Lite Rock Pile ones (beer advertiser tells all - CHEAP) - it was created when the Bills had trouble selling certain sections out. The Bills can raise prices but need to be careful about balancing need to sell out or face the furor of those who want free TV coverage of home games. It would make sense to break up seating chart some more with higher prices on some partial more desirable sections; hopefully those who are price sensitive will likely grumble and move to slightly less expensive seats and those are willing to pay more get higher demand seats. -
Check out the underwear football league try outs.
BillsWatch replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It should be called Lingerie Football League tryouts rather than confusing people making up your own title. A few of those trying out in Philadelphia looked like they could be guards for Buffalo. Certainly bigger than some of our DEs. Tryouts in Tampa Bay: http://www.tampabay.com/features/humaninte...icle1000531.ece In Miami: http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/national/d...0090512_2480151 Seattle: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/loca...ootball04m.html Dallass: http://www.dallasobserver.com/slideshow/view/242870/12 And of course on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/lingeriebowl I can not see why it will not sell especially if it is a spring or summer league. -

Do Fish Fans count? They were talking with me in their section and passing a bottle back and forth. They started asking me intelligent questions about the team while they were getting their ass kicked. They offered me some of their bottle (scotch mixed with another liquor). They watched all the way to bitter end but they still seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was coming out of parking lot with them still chatting and they were having trouble with car. This was in early 90s before cell phones were common. I told them there was no way a AAA truck was coming in against traffic but I could use my company "brick" (cell phone was size of one) to call for help for them. The AAA asked if I could stick around in case they had trouble finding vehicle and I said yes. They started up they BBQ to keep warm and one guy kept taking food out of ice chest - lobster tails, shrimp and scallops, stuffed potatoes, etc. They offered me beer and asked if I wanted to play cards when waiting. We played for about hour and half of nickle/dime/quarter poker and I made a small fortune, enough to pay for ticket. AAA showed up and was able to get their battery working. I told them goodbye I needed to call for my ride and they offered me a ride to my moms. Great day, Bills win, Fish Fans paid for game and food and I got a free ride back.

Ticket Sales, the Economy and Fan Disillusionment...
BillsWatch replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just because SOME are willing to spend more does not mean ALL will nor is enough to fill the stadium especially when many of the SOME are either people going to small number of games a year. Many of these scalpers are selling jacked up prices to fan of opposing teams. Brokers and scalpers (and fans who buy extra seats to sell) have been doing this and getting away with for some time and those only allows the honest ones in on the deal. -
Ticket Sales, the Economy and Fan Disillusionment...
BillsWatch replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See Buffalo News story posted on TBD: http://www.buffalonews.com/opinion/columns...ory/664943.html Much of projected sales drop is pure bitching from people who listen to B word radio and professional whiners on some of the newspapers. Seaon ticket sales have increased partly because the Bills have made it easier for season ticket holders to sell games they are not interested in themselves with some selling them to opposing fans making profit because ticket prices are so low in Buffalo. Season tickets sales are not "down to" 50,000 - many people buy them when they have the money later in season unlike other teams which are completely sold out year to year and season ticket holders need to pay fees to get rights to buy season tickets. -

If NFLPA goes on strike they could be in good position if they can manage finances until then. They have been signing quality production and team people http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/r...ses/?id=3819642 With NFL laying off some people they may get more.
