Nice. Its hard to win @ MIA, especially an AFC east team. Theyll play them tough -
good point

Wait, TEN has Vince Young? I didn't realize that because he hasnt been given any national media attention at all.

Bro, dont worry. Im going to dress in drag and pretend to be a 17 yr old girl. Henry will be so distracted he'll forget about the game...

interesting article in ESPN mag

Yeah doesnt account for momentum etc. but could be used for first suggestion -
Did anyone see the recent article in ESPN the magazine? It was on coachs decisions' on 4th down. In summary, some professor in economics publised a paper in a peer-reviewed journal in which he applied decision making theory to decisions a coach will make. The goal of the coach, in terms of the paper, is to make every decision which will enable your team to score the most points. Or, for us people with some statistical knowledge, maximize your expected value, i.e. maximize the points scored and minimize the points given up. Im not sure of the ins and outs, but based on the article, a coach's decision deviates the most from the "best" decision (the decision which will maximize the points scored) when the team is in the red zone. Far too often a coach will bend over and kick the FG. This paper argues that more often, the coach should go for it. It takes into account yards to go, what yardline they are on, etc. For example, suppose BUF is on the 2 yard line and 4th and goal. Assuming that a FG is made everytime, the expected points from the FG is 3. If the team will score more than 3/7th's of the time, then they should go for it. 7*(3/7)=3. Also, even if they go for it and dont get the TD, they leave the team with a long-@ss field. They analyzed all of the coaches decisions in the NFL and found that two of the top 3 or 4 coaches were Belichik (spelling) and Parcells. That is, their modeled decisions in the paper agreed with those coaches' decisions the best. All in all it was a really interesting read. Check it out. Maybe skelator aka Jauron will too.

Ive read a few people on this board posting that Jauron and Co. coached a good game yesterday. I disagree. One play that stands out in my mind. on 3rd and 3 we did a little dump off to mcgahee and it looked like he was going to get the first down no problem. Someone on SD made a tackle as Mcgahee was trying to be cute. We were left with 4th and a couple of inches to go. Go for it. Are you kidding me? SD is an explosive team who is going to score points. Our D isnt going to stop them everytime they have the ball. I like to look at it this way. If you cant get a few inches in one play you dont deserve to win the game. Jauron, of course, had sand in his mangina and decided to kick the ball away. Plus Moorman wasnt kicking the ball great either. Go for it and get a first down. You dont get it, you dont deserve to win the game anyways. I gaurantee that if we had Belichick as our coach, that would be a no brainer decision for him. We played "not to lose" instead of "playing to win". When you do that, the results are ugly. Other examples include when we ran it 3 straight times when we were pinned in our own end in the last 2 minutes of the game. The other more obvious plays include burning 2 T.O.'s on a play that clearly wasnt going our way...I have seen a bunch of people comment on this already so Im not gonna say anything else on that.

Yeah that pic is so ridiculous. Ive never seen him w/ just a stache, but is sporting one in that pic. Its beautiful actually.

This is such a blind homer response and totally misses the point of my original post

I was about to bring this up, but you beat me to it. The whole point of the post was saying he needs to lead that comeback in the 4th quarter to take that next step as a QB. I love how I get killed for making a reasonable point like that. He's lookin good right now. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds... go BUF

Good work

The coaches and JP himself are not taking advantage enough of JPs running ability. Roll him out more, design a few QB runs. JP, dont be afraid to run if no one's open. Its good to do everyone once in a while. Id like to see JP take off 6 to 7 times a game. He needs to play *his* game.

Patriots Have A Free Invitation

The Jets? Are you kidding me? They were the worst 4-3 team in the NFL before losing to a disgusting CLE team. Now they're the worst 4-4 team in the NFL. I mean, come one, *we* almost beat them. They let R. Drough.. look like Jim Brown and the only reason they were in the game at the end was because 1. CLE is awful and 2. they had a KR for a TD NE's gotta love playing in this DIV... -
In 2001, Bledsoe gets hurt. NE plays well w/ Brady. Bledsoe gets healthy but is benched in favor of Brady. Fast forward to 2006. Bledsoe has an awful game and is benched in favor of the unproven T. Romo. DAL goes out and gets an upset W over a tough carolina team at home. Folks, we could be seeing the start of a new NFL dynasty (the cowboys) courtesy of a Drew Bledsoe benching. Just imagine what could have been if we would have done this in 2004... ...just another "what if" or "could have been" from the folks down at 1 Bills Dr.

People still want to stand up for JP? Im so sick of him getting a pass because the rest of the team sucked. A good QB takes a team on its shoulders and carries them at the crucial points of a game. Losman cant do this. Did anyone notice all the respect the rest of the PATS have for Brady. They trust him to make the big play and all he does time after time is contribute. Brady threw a TD pass and right after acknowledged the right side of his line for picking up the rush. He's the man. Losman is NOT a leader of this team and no one truly believes in him. Its so obvious by just watching him during the game. The rest of the team doesnt believe in him. Im still waiting for the comeback led by JP. 3 yrs and couting and still hasnt happened. almost every single good quarterback in the NFL has won the game by themselves by their 2nd year...so I think Losman has to show it this year or he isnt going to work. Just a few things he did that screwed BUF: 1. took ugly delay of a game 2. had to eat a TO after the willis shovel pass - get your team down there you idiot 3. lost ANOTHER fumble - ok your line sucks...eat a sack...just dont lose the ball 4. telegraphed a bunch of his passes

Come on bro, I had that first...
-
whats up w/ TKO? Will we see him on the field this week?
-
All we need him to do is start throwing with his eyes open and we'll be OK...

Happy we got the W today. Thought BUF was gonna choke it away...I'll take it though. Lossman was good. I still want Lossman and the rest of the team prove itself. Hanging on at home against a mediocre team doesnt do it for me. Make fun of me if you want for that. 2-2 is very indicative of the team we are right now.
