  1. I am impervious to your Catholic Guilt and bogeymen. Believe what you want, why should I care?
  2. It's an area of keen interest to me, as I am a recovering Roman Catholic.
  3. I personally don't have much use for what the guy in the funny hat has to say. I'm not arguing for Socialism either, just pointing out the hypocrisy of the Christian Conservative movement.
  4. How about politically agnostic and philosophically socialist?
  5. The words of these PEOPLE supersede the word of GOD??? Self-delusion does not become you. Jesus' (possibly misquoted) words are very clear and are not open to human interpretation. I am not taking parts of quotes out of context or spinning anything here. Your political views are simply at odds with your religions views. You'll need to work that out on your own. Incidentally, which part of "go, sell what you have, and give to the poor" did you not understand?
  6. I certainly get that point and find it amusing more than anything. Being the elitist lib that I am, I think that all organized religion is a bunch of crap. If you consider things from that perspective, it really doesn't matter which quotes are accurate and which characters in the story are fictional. Many people choose how to live their lives based on what is contained in that oft-edited book, so the historical accuracy really doesn't matter, just what appears there now. So more accurately, "The Jesus character found in your sacred book was a Socialist".
  7. Cut and paste is fun! Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth. -Jesus Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor. -Jesus Forgive our debtors. -Jesus Give to every one who begs from you. -Jesus The part where he said 'if you feel like it' may have been lost in translation somewhere.
  8. Some general statements: Jesus had no personal possesions. Jesus loved all people regardless of ethnicity, class, gender or sexual orientation. He made no qualifiers here. Jesus gave us (or at least reinforced) the Golden Rule. Do unto others... Various quotes: It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. -Jesus Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth. -Jesus Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor. -Jesus I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me...As you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me. -Jesus Forgive our debtors. -Jesus Give to every one who begs from you. -Jesus Jesus was the first socialist, the first to seek a better life for mankind. -Mikhail Gorbachev
  9. The latest attempt to stereotype myself finds me as a socially liberal, fiscally moderate skeptical agnostic who happens to think that abortion is wrong, but realizes how easy it is for any male to say that 'abortion is wrong'.
  10. That's the spirit - believe whatever makes you feel good! It's all BS anyway.
  11. The hypocrisy of the whole thing no longer upsets me. I now take the long view and am simply impressed by the success of the Conservative campaign to hijack most of the Americans who consider themselves Christian. Much of what it means to be Fiscally Conservative goes against the teachings of Jesus, but when you decide to pick and choose which parts of his teachings you want to incorporate into your life, you can ignore the parts that don't fit with your political affiliation. Thank you Karl Rove! Conservatives are against abortion - that's what really matters. As always, very convenient. All that said, hypocrisy runs rampant on both sides of the aisle.
  12. As much as many here would like to deny it, Jesus was a Socialist.
  13. BOOYAKASHA He chooses to rip off Ali G for a catch phrase.
  14. This was a denial of service attack. Not very sophisticated, pretty difficult to combat, very common. Basically you use a large network of pre-infected zombie computers to continually slam the web site with requests, sapping all of the web server's resources. This makes it impossible for the web server to serve pages to any requesters, including those that are legit. No data is compromised and no infection is passed on to the web server.
  15. What does one strive for after realizing one's full potential?
  16. And a Young-Earth Creationist. So sad...
  17. Incidentally, how !@#$ing ridiculous is it that you throw up a straw man argument like 'you want to legalize prostitution because you want lots of whores' and then accuse me of using straw men?
  18. Wrong, but good try. I simply favor letting people do what they want, provided they do no harm to others. Let the free market decide, right?
  19. Legalize it, regulate it, zone it, control it. Or as you prefer, keep it underground, nasty, abusive and wherever it happens to end up. Good call. I fail to see how my advice to members of my family is any business of yours or anybody else. Do you understand what Motherment means?
  20. No, but that would be a case of me lending my opinion and/or advice to people I care about. I understand that it is not my place to forcibly impose my morals and belief system on others. I'm a big boy now and I don't need Motherment. Isn't that what you wackos always whine about - too much restriction by government? That charade of a sentiment obviously ends when some citizen starts doing something your church wouldn't approve of.
  21. Jackass. How much of that do you think is because these operations are illegal? "I'm all for small government and letting people do what they want unless it clashes with my moral and religious beliefs."
  22. I'll be investing heavily in tinfoil.
  23. Being that I'm not trying to get into heaven, I have no need to separate intent from result, so there's no spiritual advantage from my perspective in HOW resources are redistributed. Incidentally, I'd absolutely love to see the biblical quote where Christ talks about government not being a part of charitable contribution. It seems to me that he wouldn't care - provided the less fortunate were taken care of. Face it, Jesus was a Socialist. Feel free to continue to spin your religion so that it fits your political ideology. I'll laugh as you twist and turn. Lord forgive him He's got them dark forces in him But he's also got a righteous cause for sinning
