  1. Fair enough, but I was actually referring to a study I read about a while ago in Scientific American: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article....itical-leanings It's just one study, but since reading that article I've been thinking about how it applies to some of my right-leaning colleagues and friends. Probably just mostly confirmation bias on my part, but still interesting.
  2. I like to think that I don't fit precisely into either political box. You're welcome to disagree. I'm not anti-gun. The hollow end points at the big bad Black Panther, right?
  3. Thanks for all the advice - I just struggled through the last one. I mostly felt like I was the one being interviewed the whole time. All three looked at me stragely when I asked to see a picture of their wife and kids. I might omit that from future interviews. If you get your advice from PPP, you'll get what you deserve...
  4. More with how many Conservatives seem to live life like they're scared of everything.
  5. Wouldn't stop me from voting, but I'm not a pu$$y. Just bring your guns and stockpiles of ammunition in 2012 and you should feel all safe and secure.
  6. That's very true. Still overrated.
  7. Thanks, that's great. I'll have to lay that list of responsibilities out tonight.
  8. That's a fine question. We're a smallish company but that's still no excuse for making me interview anybody. I'm a web app developer and I already Googled a list of applicable questions. I have to pare the list down tonight. Thanks for the advice, I'll memorize as many as I can and try to act too far out of my league.
  9. Security concerns due to cookies are SO overrated.
  10. I've drawn the personally undesirable duty of interviewing several candidates tomorrow. Some background: I have never interviewed anyone before. Nearly all of the candidates are at least 15-20 years my senior and therefore have more work experience than me. All of these facts are combining to stress me the hell out. Any advice? Please?
  11. No, the point is: have an informed, factual, reasoned point or STFU. The best point is not often the loudest point.
  12. Your opinion smacks of anger, frustration and emotion. I respectfully disagree.
  13. Did you buy it all up in anticipation of the Swine Flu Apocalypse?
  14. Whatever. I pick and choose my battles and it seems to me that you would need a degree or three in economics to get your head wrapped around much of this stuff. Then again, you don't see me jumping up and down for or against any of it. That doesn't make me apathetic, but I am willing to admit my limitations (unlike some). There is no requirement that a conscientious member of society have a strong opinion on each and every issue. As for Obama's willingness to admit ignorance, it's a welcome change. A good leader surrounds himself with smart, competent people and leans on them for advice. This is the antithesis of the 'Dear Leader' moniker that some like to label him with.
  15. No, they're willing to take Rush's word on what that fancy letterin' says.
  16. Way to hit all the conservative talking points without actually saying anything. I'd say 'keep up the good work', but I know I don't have to!
  17. In my world I don't know enough about how to get out of a recession to have a fact-based opinion on whether or not spending our way out of one is effective. I've read that the end is in sight, but again, I couldn't tell you exactly why. You obviously have strong opinions here, but I'm not convinced that your opinion really counts for much. In my world making intelligent cuts in government spending is a good thing. In my world I don't watch or pay attention to any of the people you mentioned. In my world, correlation != causation. But I don't live in California, so I obviously have no perspective. Well, we can agree on that part at least.
  18. It's just that if that's their entire spiel, what exactly are they protesting? It's much like tea bagging events protesting higher taxes earlier this year. As you recall, Obama's policies were not yet in place and most of them were protesting what will turn out to be a personal tax decrease. As one not privy to their motives, it looks like they're simply protesting anything they associate with Obama, which is all well and good. Do they know what they're protesting against? Do they support any concrete alternative? If not, simply whoopin' and hollerin' is not very constructive.
  19. That's what tea bagging is all about? Clapping and screaming?
  20. Absolutely. Also, consider that more research dollars have been spent to develop treatments for diseases that white people are genetically predisposed to rather than things like Sickle Cell Anemia. My guess is that the better health stats in Canada have more to do with lifestyle than anything. After all, we are all a bunch of fat-assed, chain smoking, sedentary heart attacks waiting to happen.
  21. Oh, and Bill O'Reilly and his entire staff are a bunch of !@#$ing morons!
  22. There are many factors that might play into that statistic that have nothing to do with genetics.
  23. Oh Jesus, that's like saying there are backward retards in the Bible Belt who all vote Republican. BFD. There are gullible morons on both sides. If anything it's more of a vocal minority than any significant percentage of just about any demographic you feel like citing.
