  1. Way to switch gears to a complete non-sequitur. I may think I know everything I'm ever going to know, but you're supposed to be smarter than this. Stop rooting for the laundry.
  2. No they're really just protesting Obama. For some it's payback for how Bush was treated. For others, it's simply how they roll with partisan politics. For the rednecks and old folks, it just might be straight racism. There may be a few with legitimate beef based on the facts, but every fact I've heard shouted at town hall meetings so far is based on fear and lies with regard to the actual proposed bill.
  3. That's only if all of the private sector insurance companies fail to compete in a free market with the public option, right? And who says that Health Care, a vital resource for those who need it, should strictly be provided by a free market? Isn't there some sort of moral standard that should be applied here? And you can stick your economics degree back in your purse, my Mensa prodigy friend, this isn't a difficult concept.
  4. Which is why they want the private option I guess. It almost has to be more cost-effective for the Canadians than the pseudo-private option you're describing here. The Canadians seek 'A little Capitalism to go with your Socialism' as opposed 'A little Socialism to go with your Capitalism', as is being proposed in our country. The wackos obviously have a problem with the concept of shades of grey - everything is black and white. It reminds me of my 4-year old, but he still has a chance grow out of it.
  5. Sounds like a lot of fear and speculation, boys.
  6. I must be missing something. Is anyone talking about getting rid of the private option?
  7. Where do you get off calling anyone else partisan?
  8. How about: The right to petition government and redress grievances - unless you're getting paid to do so. I haven't thought about this much, but what would be wrong with that?
  9. It does seem like they're going out of their way to find relatively harmless vandals. Hopefully this is just a case of local law enforcement stepping over the line. Freedom of speech is almost as important as our right to bear AK-47s after all.
  10. I've seen you call yourself a Conservative before and usually just equate the two I guess. There are some real die-hard partisans on this board and I certainly wouldn't include you with that group. Most 'normal' people fall somewhere towards the middle of the political spectrum. Picking a party to associate yourself with is more like picking a football team or religion as best as I can tell. In general, I think that if you're 'rooting for the laundry', your perspective is not so good.
  11. The posters are one thing, but that's just fckued up. There's a lot of irrational hatred out there and that wacko needs the type of help that only a well-padded room can provide.
  12. Such a great attitude. Too bad most people would rather just B word and make schitt up.
  13. My second favorite line from 2000-2008 was 'If you don't like it move to Canada!'. (my first being the general sentiment 'Agree with the elected body or you are unpatriotic.') Not that support or ever supported either statement. I imagine that it would suck to be a Republican in SF or NYS, among other places - kind of like being a Bills fan.
  14. Feel free to vote different representatives into office if you don't agree with the policies of the incumbents.
  15. No matter what you think of him, at least he believes the Earth is more than 6.000 years old. When Palin wins her first Nobel Prize, she can enter the conversation. Do they award a Nobel for Folksiness?
  16. Ok, but I wasn't talking about Palin. Everyone knows she's a tool.
  17. Bush is a pu$$y (oh, the irony!). Dick should have shot him in the face.
  18. I've heard that one can get wrapped up in that particular book beyond the point of distractibility. The pet goat is a fascinating literary figure.
  19. No, but I'm sure they have several book burnings planned. Low information voters have little use for books or learnin'.
  20. When we all stop acting like children...so probably not.
  21. Quick run for the bunker and grab the grenades - the Socialists are coming!
  22. Well, it sounds like he has the potential to be agressively persuasive.
  23. Because the left is so damned scary! It's such a predictively primitive response from the "low information, high emotion" portion of our population. "I'm frightened of Barack Obama and his Socialist agenda!" (because Rush told me to be and black people scare me)
