  1. The good thing is...even with differing opinions, at least we know there are going to be enough WRs and TEs this year to help us out, even if you need to wait a year or two for development. There are some solid corners as well. I think this is why you didn't see front office panic this week. I haven't been to the draft in years, but this year looks like a fun one to check out.
  2. What impresses you? Why do you think he is better than Kelly? After watching that entire clip, it looks as if 10% of his catches were inside the hashes. How is that going to give us anything new? If you draft him as a replacement for Lee Evans and trade for a real #1 receiver, I might think about it. Kelly goes anywhere and everywhere to catch a ball. Even though he has had a nagging injury, he is still going to be be much more physical as well. We'll see.
  3. Thomas looked very smooth at the combine, but he plays like Lee Evans in pads. We need a guy to catch the ball between the hash marks and still have the ability to break one. Malcolm Kelly is that guy. The other big thing about Kelly is that he has a pushbutton gear to make quick separation in getting open. Much like a corner has good closing speed, you can throw to Kelly before a break or with little separation, and he is going to make that move with the ball in the air. I understand why scouts are buzzing about Thomas at the combine, but I will be disappointed if Kelly isn't a Bill.
  4. Here is the problem, our own economic meltdown may change the way other countries think. Instead of the Arabs and China trying to prop up our dollar, they may sense that we are going to hit "reset" on our debt levels and beat us to the punch. For anyone that doubted the real mess that is going on behind the scenes, this past week should clarify things. We would have lost one of our major banks today, and with it, $1 trillion in swaps would have gone to zero. There is NO market for most of the debt out there. It is up to the Fed to print money and take on all the garbage. This week alone they have fesssed up to hundreds of billions in monopoly money, and there is plenty going on through proxies as well. FDIC, the agency that is supposed to insure our banks, is floating packages of loans outside the banking sector in hopes of saving some of these institutions. In the best case scenario, this is going to cause serious inflation to our economy as a whole, minus housing, and keep oil flying high. In the worst case, the US is going to go bankrupt. If I am in OPEC, I take Hugo Chavez's advice and flip to Euros. If I am China....what would ordinarily look like a death wish could be a brilliant move. I make an agreement with Iran and Russia, sell my dollars, stop sending goods to the US, and watch the fun begin. At the same time, Iran and Syria with bankroll from Russian arsenal, go into Israel from north and south with Hamas and Hezbullah. The US gets pulled into a full scale battle and borders in the region collapse. US military is stretched to the limits, while back home the recession is turning into a depression, and we have to try and manufacture ourselves out of it. With limited oil, and limited resources, we are in tough. China chokes off it's growth, and citizens are in trouble, but thanks to US profits going straight into the military the past 15 years, China takes Taiwan back. There is nothing the US can do now to help without an end game taking place. China now has access to cheap oil, the Muslims take out most of Israel, and with the US obliterated economically and stretched militarily, Putin can now reach back into Europe. Condi Rice was in the Middle East to tell Syria that we have a few nukes trained on Damascus if they get any funny ideas about going into Israel. Cheney was in Oman to shore up defense plans to keep the canal open and visited Saudi Arabia to say "pump it up!" I have a funny feeling the next 18 or so months are going to be the craziest times my generation has ever seen. Nobody is going to claim boredom. Hopefully the scenario I pose is just a nightmare that never happens, but the fact that Bush did a little tap dance routine a few weeks ago on the front lawn of the White House while waiting for John McCain shows just how punch drunk he is. As always, smok'em if you got'em.
  5. Thomas looked great at the combine. If the MO is going to be draft good looking combine guys, Astro may get his wish with Dustin Kellar. I think Kellar moved up into the top 25 at the combine, and Thomas moved into the 30-50 range. I didn't know much about Thomas, but he sure stood out.
  6. The only thing that seems to be missing from Kelly's game is crisp route running. After watching him on film, he was leaps and bounds better than any of the 12 other guys mentioned in the first 3 rounds. He is built like an athlete and given a few years to learn and progress, can be true top 5 receiver. Sweed looks like a #2 guy on film. He runs sharper routes than Kelly, but doesn't "flow" into transitional moves. He looks like he may catch on to things a bit quicker, but Kelly gets me excited when I watch him on tape. Sweed leaves me saying, "He'll probably be ok." My fear is that Kelly comes in at the 4.4-4.49 level and we lose our chance to pick him. The way he looks in film, I don't think he'll be a 4.6+ guy. I'm hoping he runs in the upper 4.5's in order to justify an early pick, but not give any other teams crazy ideas.
  7. Orgy Night at the Rutgers Women's basketball dorm.
  8. Crunchy! He was an animal before the injury. Nothing but respect for the guy.
  9. "In case of mast*tbation emergency, please tune into this channel."
  10. Hunt probably runs just as fast with pads on because he is so powerful. He is a notch below being a franchise back, but he looks like he would be durable and punishing. He would be a very safe pick in the 2nd round....much like Whitner was a safe pick in the 1st. There are guys with more upside, but plenty of guys with more downside.
  11. I think you risk getting labeled as "just a tech guy" if you pass on this. There is nothing wrong with that in reality, but it may hurt your chances in the future if you don't at least show some interest in the process. If you can have a picture of two half naked chics on top of each other, something tells me there is a leader in you screaming to get out! You can't let work relationships worry you either. Work is basically like prision. You don't choose who is in the cell with you for the most part and you are all in it together. Once you get your freedom you are usually on your own way again.
  12. I hate when you have a substantial wager on a sporting event, then someone you know roots against you because they have Neil Rackers on their fantasy team they threw in 20 bucks for the year. Same as....playing blackjack at a table where you just won $25...but the rest of the table who were playing black and purple chips got wiped clean by the dealer.....then you get all giddy......you deserve to get your $25 a$$ whipped
  13. People who order 1/4 pound of 6 different deli items while I am the only other person in line. Just eat a salad then, tramp.
  14. I never said I was chased away.....I still stick to my Miller hypothesis. He will go AWOL someday. I collected some cash from Dolphin fans with Ricky Williams and I felt I should double down. Same personalities...Ricky used the ganga as an excuse to get out. Briere is diving and whining as much as Roy these days, and I also had to walk uphill...both ways to school! Pominville has surprised me, but he still isn't much more than a Ward in my head. I left because I was too negative for a hometown board. At least you see that I am half full of it. The only reason I chimed in here is because the Lynchmob was going after someone else who didn't deserve it.
  15. A) My whole point is that it is about the journey and not the ring. If we are to win a Stanley Cup then we are only 2/3 through the season. 70 gone and roughly 35 to go. What has happened so far means JACK! I was begging for a physical foreward and a physical defenseman to help us down the stretch. We don't have a leader in that department. Peters,Mair, and to an extent Stafford, Drury, and Spacek are the only guys who will hunt people out. When you have no hunters...you are the hunted. It's been going on since December, and it has worked for opposing teams. B) You must not follow hockey much, as the team I mentioned would go to the playoffs every year. Much like Peters and Mair, we had Hartman and Maguire. When it came to the playoffs, all the skill in the world gets you nowhere without grit. The 2006-07 Sabres who will be on the ice during the playoffs haven't shown me grit. C) Bandwagon Fan......I've lived in Florida for years and have kept my Sabres tickets. For whatever reason, when you go to a game at the HSBC this year, it is more like the Depew Roller Rink circa 1988. I enjoyed it much more with 13,000 educated true fans than 18,000 "fans" who boo their team, chant constant obscenities, and claw each others' eyes out for a free T-shirt with a logo on it that everyone said was an atrocity just 6 months earlier. When the Bills were at their prime, this community knew football inside and out. There were almost 80,000 people who were all on the same wavelength come Sunday, and another million at home. This little Sabres thing is far short from that, and I will stubbornly stand alone and call it what I see it to be. Do I hope I am wrong....yes. Do I feel I will be wrong....No.
  16. I'll put it in Horse terms... Sabres Fans are acting like the team is Secretariat. I say the team is Bellamy Road. It is a matter of value. The Sabres are a good team and have had a great year. The whole thread got started because a kid was pointing out the Sabres haven't been on fire recently then was thrown under the bus.
  17. If you won the lottery under Carter, he would have taken 70% of your present payout. With interest rates in the teens.....a $10 million jackpot paid over 20 years would be closer to a $1.5 million cash payout. After taxes that would leave you with $450,000. Yes....I would complain.
  18. You just made 95% of your posts in PPP look silly. So it isn't the principle, it's whether you win or lose? That doesn't sound like you. I say this team has faulty character which will lead to never winning the cup. I've been yelling it since day 1 and mad that Regeir didn't do a thing about it. This team worked hard last year and caught people by surprise. They are doing neither the past 3 months. I was one of the few that didn't buy into Donahoe after seeing him for a few years. That doesn't mean I hate the Bills. I hate when something I cherish is being manhandled by someone who doesn't understand why that thing is so important, and who makes a mockery out of it for that very reason. Once we lost Donahoe, I felt 100 times better about this team, potential senility and all. I can now go to The Ralph without feeling "dirty". I don't think Regeir is a snake oil man....but I think we got lucky the NHL tried going NBA in it's marketing until they realised that was even worse than the Old NHL. As for pain.....I've lived through the Ruutu,Hougue,Turgeon era. That's enough pain to make me not touch the hot stove again.
  19. Nice to see you managed to take "UsedCarDealer101" while at Syracuse
  20. That's cool. You have the perfect mix. You want them to win and think they will win, but are willing to look at the negatives as well as the positives. I want them to win too, I just don't think they will.
  21. I'm up for it.....Sabres win the Cup, I'll PayPal you $20. Sabres don't win, you give the Erie County SPCA $20 on your honor. Decent?
