Crazy times we live in. Next Up: Dick Jauron arrested for running a cockfighting operation -
Wow.....are you sure that wasn't Hardy's babymomma handing out names?

I have a question about this web site?
Dwight Drane replied to BDW1968's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was just clicking through the "news" channels tonight, and almost choked when I saw MSNBC and Dan Abram's show. He uses comic book fonts and all kinds of bs. All these stations have constant streaming bs...pretty colors...spinning things...fast talking chumps....the country is so dumbed down that Madison ave figures if you spew out the crap fast enough, people won't have the time or ability to figure that you are giving them a plate of BS. World War III is months if not weeks away from starting, and we are debating Hannah Montana looking like she just woke up from a Minnesota Vikings Party Cruise. I hope the Bills win a SuperBowl before God throws in the towel on us. There.....that looks pretty! -
Question Hardy over guys like Thomas, Sweed and Kelly is valid because of Hardy's build. The only guy out there who has Hardy's build and has had any success is Burress, and it took him 4 years to get going. Moss is somewhat similar, but he is more compact. Hardy is a "gimmick" pick. Much like Roscoe Parrish was a "gimmick" pick. I have a good feeling that he will be a nice target in the red zone, but what about the other 80% of the plays? The Bills are sticking themselves out there on this pick, so in that sense I have confidence in it. He did put up big numbers in the Big 10. Then again, so did Mike Hart and he almost didn't get drafted. We needed some immediate help with offensive targets, and we walked away with a basketball shooting forward, and nice white boy from Kansas. There is room for concern.

1) Brandon Albert G Virginia 2) Malcolm Kelly WR Oklahoma 3) Jermichael Finley TE Texas 4) Kennan Burton WR Kentucky 4b) DeMario Pressley DL NC State 5) Dominique Barber S Minnesota 6) Mike Hart RB Michigan 7) Simeon Castille CB/S Alabama 7b) Adam Bishop TE Nevada 7c) DJ Hall WR Alabama I don't mind the early corner, but I think every possible extra moment Edwards gets, be it a better blocker or receiver, is worth gold. I was much more bullish about the team before the draft, but maybe the defense and special teams have made enough improvements to make us a wild card team. I really don't like Hardy for the simple reason he is underdeveloped down low. He may have good straight line speed, but I think he lacks a quick burst of a Malcolm Kelly and he is open to hip pointer/groin injuries as well as knee hyperextension just from his lanky build. He was the one guy out of the top 4 WRs that I didn't want. We shall see.

Looks like someone is sending us a Freudian message through their drafting........could it be Dick?

Alvin "Ace" Bowen: Compliance Linebacker

Wow! Must not be many communications or drama majors at Iowa State. A for effort from the new guy. Looks like Haggan and this guy could have a throwdown or two in fighting for a job. It'll start with some Yo Mama jokes, and end up with blades. Mark it down! -
6th Round Selection: Xavier Omon RB NWMO

After watching that video....the kid does seem to have good instincts and goes to the hole before it opens. You can't teach that. Obviously you can't teach Dwayne Wright either!! -

Ralph gave direct orders to draft guys with short names so he "Won't have to pay good money for all that G'Dm Stitching!" -
4th Round Selection 2: Derek Fine TE Kansas

You see a Fine Cooley? Hit that thing! -
Carlson was the only guy that could step in day 1 with confidence and still have solid production. I can't think of many guys that just step in at TE and do anything more than lukewarm. We shall see.

The guy lost in all the hooplah is Reed. By taking Hardy and passing on a more traditional type receiver or top tight end, Reed is still the only guy on the roster that can go across the middle on a regular basis. Reed had a nice chemistry with Edwards last year and I can see him being the most trusted of the group. Unless the Bills make a trade for a TE, Reed looks to me to be the darkhorse of the crew. I also wouldn't be surprised to see a more traditional type of WR to be taken in the first 3 picks today as a hedge against Hardy. I think of how long it took a guy like Plexico Burress to get his feet under him, and I see sort of the same type guy here.
-
It would be interesting, but the Bills probably look at Hardy as more of a big target at times that lessens the dire need for an upgrade at TE. I would have much rather looked at a traditional type of WR then took a true TE upgrade. It is going to be a stretch to assume anyone from here on in can start this year. Think Kevin Everett more than Kellen Winslow.

It looks like it. McGee bulked up to help him in run support, and it seemed to take away that extra gear. McGee also seems to have lingering stinger/shoulder issues that pop up, and limiting special teams hits could help.

Malcolm Kelly's workout has me convinced...

I guess you just typed that with your rooster? -
What about Roscoe Parrish? Back in the 70's, it was more of an owner vs player mentality. Now teams are all big-money corporate getouts that try to woo free agents and keep the players as comfortable as possible. With today's salaries, players are investments instead of the employees they were back then. There is a "rumor" that a certain key player would hold Ralph for ransom before certain games. If Ralph didn't cough up a few extra C-notes before kickoff...he would say an injury was acting up and he didn't know if he could take the field.

Jermichael Finley of Texas looked almost as good as Keller at the combine, but I'm not too sure what he has going on upstairs.

This is what I found on the internet... Sports LED When I looked into it before, I think a simple 6x48 sign and the service for the year was $800. This was a while ago. I'll ask at the track where they get their service from. -
#11 5th rounder Losman to KC for #17 2nd rounder Huard Both QB's would be better off in the other team's system. Bills could then package their third and second to sneak back into the 1st We end up with a WR, CB and TE all between #17 and #35, and we get an experienced veteran backup QB who isn't making crazy money ($2.5 million). Every need ends up filled, still have two 4th round picks, a 6th and two 7ths to find a little depth. It makes too much sense.

I have a similar board for lap dance proficiencies of strippers at various local clubs. In that case however, a big reach is a good thing.....and the medical evaluation is just as important. Before the internet, I almost "invested" in one of those LED red scrawling signs that constantly fed the point spreads from vegas and current scores. I feel your pain! -
95% of the work is done already, so it isn't as crazy as you might think. If the team is lead by confident, decisive people....you just have to trust in your valuations and let many of the chips fall where they may. In reality, only 10 % or so of the picks are traded throughout. I think a case where it gets exciting is when you think you are going to get a giant steal, and not when you chase someone by trading up or taking a guy that you know is early. There is no fun in chasing for an evaluator, but sometimes you just have a pressing need that you can't chance screwing up. There was an article last year about the thoughts of everyone as Edwards kept dropping to them. That is as good as it gets if you have all the slots above a guy empty, and about 15 in a row after him empty with others scattered around. That's when you either make a move, or pray and get that "buzz" as he comes to you.
