Do you blame Ron Jawarski for the Bills loss just because he said JP is reckless with the ball at times and then JP goes on throw 3 INT's? I am quite calm....now is the fun part. I did my job trying to tell everyone what was about to happen. Bernanke said in STL himself last week that the Fed is waiting to merge all the big players into a few giant institutions in order to attempt to get a handle on all the Level 3 assets and then regulate what they can of them. All this is now is financial dodgeball where places will be plucked one by one and three by three. Go ask your local GM dealer if they feel good because they have tons of assets yet not much liquidity in the market. Last time I looked they were selling new SUVs and Pickups at 60% retail and still nobody is touching them. Everyone needs to understand it is one in the same at this point. Ain't nobody got no stinkin cash. Bills tickets however....remarkably resilliant in the resale market.

Upcoming Week's Jack-in-the-Box Play

A D-lineman ends up with an INT. They will be stunting and blitzing up the middle early on, then drop guys into zone, which should work against Oakland. -

Good points..thanks. The Fed and the SEC suspended mark-to-market for quite a while. If I can find the SEC memo..it was quite humorous. "Mark to whatever you feel comfortable with" was along the lines. The sad thing is, there is no end to this. We can delay it...which I guess can be argued as good. It gives even more time for those in the know to cash out though...and that was my big fluff from the begining. Give a doctor 10 more minutes to work with a bleeding patient and he may save a life. Give a bus driver the same 10 minutes and that bleeding person is as good as dead most often. Each of our individual financial selves is bleeding in this mess right now. I just hope we get the football season in. We've waited too long to have another shot. I'll live in a dirt shack...but please God, let the city have a SuperBowl parade first! -

I know nothing about the insurance industry....it just looked to me like NY was giving up claim to those assets in order to try and keep AIG alive so that the state wouldn't get a bigger hit with them going under. That is why I asked. By eliminating mark-to-market, all you do is continue to prevent the end. It won't at this point help liquidity. The subprime loan industry was basically getting rid of mark-to-market on credit worthiness...and look where that ended up. It doesn't make sense that the government would back away at this point after all the gimicks they have been pulling.....oh well. Fun to watch. -

Now a separate question on this mess I don't know much about.....Did Gov. Patterson just do something idiotic by letting AIG into the till for $20 billion? It looks like NY makes the firms put up assets to back up the policies in the state, but how bad is NY in for it if AIG goes down? The $20 billion in assets might only be worth $6 billion the way things are going, but NY help is a drop in the bucket. That's just going to cover the service on the ratings downgrade tonight. Before I rip into Patterson for trying to be a hero...what are the rules and expected payouts in NY if AIG is toast? Thanks -

Ain't it! He is on pace for 80 yds on the season....but if he has 8 TD's...that'll work. Did anyone notice the Michael Jackson, circa Thriller, jacket he had on in the post game interview? Now that was scary stuff. Trust me...I hope I have to pay on that one. We need him to be servicable if we are going to make any sort of run. The question is, will I be paying in Ameros by January? -
The News From Wall Street!
Dwight Drane replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I ended up leaving where I was. The good news is that a friend just told me that the FDIC is in such a panic that they gave his firm a huge contract so he needs as many good people as possible to come aboard. There is still so much junk out there that hasn't been exposed. The sad thing is that the feds have been lending against anything and everything and these places are still going down. I look at this as the hurricane coming ashore. I am bunkered down and just worrying about my family the next few months as this unwinds. We still have war to break out on a dime, and this country is not ready for the sh!tstorm that is going to take place. Even those just now paying attention think it has to do with Wall ST., or housing. It's the whole shabang everyone. The worst thing I have done is to over-anticipate the move to Gold/Silver. We are in a deflationary spiral now, but eventually there is nowhere to go but to inflate. This is too big not to. There is also a disconnect between actual holdings available, and paper prices. Don't be surprised if we see a "Banking Holiday" over the next 6 weeks. We are all in the same boat to a certain extent, so it doesn't really matter. Enjoy those 13% Erie Co./ NYS sales tax coming up in a few years!! -

I would chime in, but I'm too busy causing panic by overdramatising the situation and hyperventilating into a paper bag. -
On that last field goal. I wanted them to punt
Dwight Drane replied to RVJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edwards did the right thing by taking the sack in FG position and keep the clock going. I would have punted as well, or even had Moorman stand up at the last second and pooch a punt with no return man back there. There would have been 5 seconds on the clock by the time we downed it. At least they showed some nads and it worked. -
NO respect for Edwards
Dwight Drane replied to granitestatebillsbackers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One guy that is in love with Edwards is Jim Rome. He was on his show 3 times the past 2 weeks. Edwards will have true football fans take notice as long as he stays healthy. He may not put up 4,000 yds and 30 TDs, but he is such a bright kid and has the tools to get the job done. I said last year that he is somewhere between Fergie and Jim Kelly on the list of Bills QBs. That should get us some pretty nice results over the next decade. -
Where are all the negative Nancies?
Dwight Drane replied to VOR's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People have no long term outlook anymore. There are plenty of things to worry about, but it was nice to have a beatdown for once. The way I look at it...we should be 3-2 at the bye. If we are 4-1, this town will be ready to explode. If we are 5-0, I will budget $2k for SuperBowl tickets. If we are 2-3 or worse, bring on the negative Nancies. Some legit worries....no depth at WR/TE. Lynch continues to run too hard to last 16 games. Peters may not be a huge help considering how much this offense uses misdirection and has to think on it's feet. Edwards has established a firm trend of being very good in good weather and very bad in bad weather. As good as the defense looked, a few RB flares to MJ Drew for 30 yds will calm us all down. McGee dinged up his chronic shoulder on a tackle again. We do not have reliable nickle/dime backs...even if Youboty looked great in preseason. I don't like to hear Roscoe nursing injuries. Here's hoping Turk Schonert didn't use 80% of his playbook already. I was as bullish as anyone on this team late last year. I wasn't happy with the draft picks in April, but the team is doing the right thing and not putting these guys in there if they don't belong. Here's hoping the injury bug is on the east coast for good....and let's win some freaking games, because it feels nice to look forward to sporting events of a team I can bileve in again. -
Did anyone watch yesterday's Titans/Jags game?

Was Hardy on the field at all yesterday?
Dwight Drane replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw Hardy in there for about 8-10 snaps, some in the 1st half. He made a nice seal-off on one block, and ran the wrong way on another running play and whiffed on his block allowing a short gain tackle. They didn't even bring him into the Redzone early. At least they didn't need him. McKelvin came in on some dime but that was all I saw of him. -
Well....I guess Vegas called today a fluke. Line opened at Jacksonville -7. I figured it may have been -6 before today's games, but I was expecting to see 4.5 points after today. Mike better slip a few C-notes back into the wagering pool after the 11K. I guess the world is anew with Brady/Favre in their new long term homes. Jets 3 point favorites...who woulda thunkit?

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Dwight Drane replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was always in position to make a play. Poz is always in position to almost make a play. Heck...with th ebuzz going on, Ellison is a smart kid and can be where he needs to be for the most part. Let's just cross our fingers that the whole team isn't crushed in the MASH unit again. -
Trent seems to trust Royal. Royal has talent, but he makes boneheaded moves on a regular basis that prevents him from being a top 15 guy. Today alone I noticed 2 bonehead moves from the stands. A minor one was in the 1st quarter when he made a nice catch on the left side and turned it upfield. But instead of lowering his shoulder and overpowering a DB, he tries to hurdle him and leaves himself and the ball in a prone position. He was 3 yards away from a 1st, and it wasn't 3rd down, so it was a needless risk. The real one that had me swearing was at the end of the 1st half. He catches the ball...has the sidelines open, but turns it inside and picks up 3 yards which could have been taken going out of bounds. That is typical Robert Royal in my eyes. He blocks well, is athletic for a big man and can probably grab 50 catches if you can rely on him.....but he doesn't use his head out there all too often. Chambers....nice game. Trent was TOO confident in the time his line was giving him. He could have ran a few times or checked down and had nice gainers...but I can't complain since these guys did the job. Nice use of counters all game, and some complex formations. I think Turk is a logical gambler. I like the artistry behind his calls so far. Peters on a counter with Lynch up his butt a few weeks from now is going to reel off a 50+ yd TD. You can see a quick hitch to Roscoe finally work as well. Nice to come home and truly look forward to next week already.

You are so insensitive... I think the Bills should send out a proxy to season ticket holders. Choice 1) Give Jason Peters a 5 year $50 million extension to his current deal and increase season ticket prices by $60 next year. Choice 2) Let Jason Peters holdout, and rebate his salary to season ticket holders to the tune of $60 per seat.

Here is what I like about the Hail Mary play.....Biden is a solid guy, but he tries to be the cool cat all too often. If the VP debates go for a while, it is only a matter of time before Biden makes a sexist comment. Not in a harmful way, but one that could be spun in your typical workplace sexual harrassment suit sort of ways. Then the media jumps on it. It's going to happen to some degree....I don't think it can turn the election, but it will happen. He can't contain himself that long. And I like the guy.

the problem with faith and religion
Dwight Drane replied to SAM HARRIS's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Everett's recovery for his type of injury is off the charts from what I can tell. Traditionalists claim it was Everett's prime physical condition and the standard treatment. I am sure those things helped him. The fact that he was tended to quickly also helps. The fact that he was tended to quickly with an out of the box treatment is propbably the most logical reason behind the amazing recovery time and ability. The Dr. himself at the time knew it was his only hope, and if you watched the initial press conferences, they figured he had a much better chance of dying than walking. Here we are 1 year later, and he is doing so well the Bills might as well sign him the way their roster is looking. I am not even arguing it was God's doing. I'm just showing you dissention in the scientific ranks. Unless many academics are told in a textbook or see 100% evidence, they do not have the nads to admit that something new may have helped somebody. Now if they received grant money for the process or were in on the deal...why sure, it is a miracle cure. I'm not trying to knock science in general...we need it, we use it, in the right minds and hands it is a great tool. I am knocking the same line of thought that there is no God because we can't prove it. Well, if that same kind of person was on staff for the Bills/broncos game last year...Kevin Everett would probably be dead. -
the problem with faith and religion
Dwight Drane replied to SAM HARRIS's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I am SOOOO happy you brought up that point. It seems as if Dr. Cappuchino is now a firm believer in body cooling technology. He knew Everett was toast on the way to the hospital, and his version of a Hail Mary was to try this experimental body cooling he had learned about a few months previous at a conference. At the time he didn't know what to think, but look at Everett now. Here is the problem with science. They look at the cooling of Everett as Hooey. Since body cooling with this specific Alsius device is not in their textbooks, then it can't possibly help anyone. I mean, Kevin Everett is only one person. We need it to work on 50 and be written about in dozens of journals and textbooks to be considered REAL. It's obvious that a skilled surgeon and proper administration of approved steroids are what saved Everett. Don't mind the fact that the lead Dr. said two days after the surgery that Everett would probably never regain the ability to walk. Nevermind that the Dr. has gone on to be yelled at as a quack for saving the life and movement of Everett for thinking outside the box. It wasn't the cooling that worked. And since you say it wasn't God...then what was it? If God isn't proven, and Body Cooling using an internal device isn't proven, then science has to fall back on an even more rediculous answer. It has to explain away something out of the ordinary that happened by relying on proven things that are only secondary support systems. If I were you, I would calm down a little on this subject. You are stressing yourself out. Nobody doesn't like a good beatdown of religion these days, but even the biggest religion haters aren't jumping in right now. -

I was momentarily turned on when she bent backwards until I figured out that was her ribcage and not her boobs. Well, you can have all sorts of fun with her until about the age of 30 when her arthritis is going to kick in!
