Geithner is the pick for Treasury Sec
Dwight Drane replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It was a joke I have a $100 to win $5000 ticket on the Bills to win the SuperBowl....what is that worth? $100? $5000? $15? -
Geithner is the pick for Treasury Sec
Dwight Drane replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Geithner is so good with a computer, I think he may even be a computer programmer. His favorite buttons are 0, 1 and Enter. $10,000,000,000 $100,000,000,000 $1,000,000,000,000 Woohoo! Citibank is solvent again! -
I think given her track record, that was pretty damn funny. It wasn't the fact that she pardoned the turkey....it's that she's doing the Cougar thing for the camera in her la-de-da voice as Jethro is slicing necks and draining them in the background...then turns to the camera with perfect timing. If it wasn't for the scarf and coffee, I would think that was a green screen background put in over a previous Palin interview. I may actually watch the Daily SHow tonight.

If Edwards looks much better with Reed back...
Dwight Drane replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the chain of events as I see them.. 1) Reed goes down 2) Hardy and Parrish do not bring the same football smarts/ route running ability/ and blocking skills that Reed does 3) Because of #2, Trent doesn't trust these guys to be in the right place and delays his throw instead of timing the throw to where the receiver "should" end up 4) Evans does not run slants or do much between the hashmarks 5) Our TE's are subpar, and although Royal is a good athlete, his propensity for bonehead plays leads to a lack of trust as well 6) With no receiver to exploit the soft zone, teams play Evans over/under to limit the big play and bring more run blitzes along with jamming Roscoe or Fred Jackson when used in formation 7) Since Reed is gone, the outside runs and misdirection that worked so well the first few games do not work as assignments are missed and blocking from WR subpar 8) Because of #6 and #7 the O-Line is under pressure sooner at times leading to more hits and pressure on Edwards 9) After failing to exploit the soft zone, and needing to change on the fly, the coaching staff has run into problems with few available options as they attempt to run a similar offense as early on, but without the cohesiveness to do so...teams also have months of film on the Bills and can play the same script 10) The coaching staff becomes enamored with constantly changing packages in an attempt to lose predictability, although it leads to longer lag time in getting the huddle broken, wasted timeouts and penalties, and lack of execution due to confusion on roles and hurried nature of many pre-snaps 11) Trent Edwards loses faith in the passing game but is a good soldier and listens to the coaching staff and plays within the system 12) Edwards starts to overthink at times and does not play off of his superior instincts due to #1-11 I really feel that Josh Reed will put all facets of the offense back into their comfort zones. Not only will Edwards feel more comfortable, but Turk Schonert can go back to calling games with confidence instead of trying to overthink the situation. With Reed back, defenses will have to pay more attention between the hashes and cannot give up their safety on Evans every play. By backing off the line, Freddy Jackson should turn into a real threat again as a receiver and the O-Line will seem to give Edwards more time to throw. Also look for the return of 5-15 yard hard-out routes as Reed and Evans will be trusted to run them, Edwards will once again throw them as his confidence returns in himself and his receivers, and much like a strong run game leads to success in play-action, these routes are what allow Evans to get set up for long balls. With the offense back on track and scoring more points while eating up more clock, the banged up defense will have a better chance to make an impact. Even though Whitner, Schobel, Scott and possibly Greer will be gone the next few weeks, Marcus Stroud is not losing steam as the season goes on and will be the key to keeping the swarming defense competitive at worst. I really feel the Bills will be 8-5 in three weeks. This team still works hard and has plenty of talent and intelligence. When the switch goes back on, they should feed on their own momentum. I don't think they are worldbeaters, but they have the ability to beat any team in the league when at full strength. Trent Edwards is the present and the future, and there is something to be said for his West-coast intensity versus Jim Kelly's eastern rust belt intensity. He knows what Reed means to this team and his psyche will not be harmed from the past few weeks. Buf 23 KC 16 Buf 34 SF 20 Buf 27 Mia 17 -
No...just Tony G. You know they would have Whitner on him....or Scott. No he's just going to have 13 catches for 110 yds.

theory / question on TE's suckiness last night
Dwight Drane replied to ChicagoDan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The first thing I noticed was the Browns coming out of the locker in ALL WHITE! I'm looking and saying to myself, "why would you give a team an advantage like that in a night game?" Much like Miami makes the visitor wear dark home uniforms in the heat and humidity, when you wear all white you can blend in with the white background of the lights. On offense, Quinn has the benefit of knowing where his receiver is supposed to be....but when the Bills are on offense, the QB doesn't know where the defenders will be, and it is possible to lose a guy in the lights or hesitate a split second before a throw. I am not saying that is what happened, but that was the first thing that came to mind from my seats. The lights could have played a role for sure. I think it was more that Edwards doesn't trust his stellar group of Hardy/Royal/Schouman/Fine/Parrish/Johnson......and is reacting in his throws instead of delivering them with authority. When Josh Reed gets back.....bet the Bills first time out. Unless our entire secondary is hurt! -
GM can't make dealer incentive payments for this month....just on the boobtube.

If Jenna wasn't out on her own, she'd finish you off with a happy ending after your meal. But only if you were from a trendy country like Brazil, or the Netherlands. Anywhere else and she'd only drop her fork and bend over to pick it up in front of you. On a side note....would it be considered a Patriotic duty and honor to let Barney hump your leg? The dog...not Frank.

Polamolou Interception - SD@Pit
Dwight Drane replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It should have been reviewed as there was no flag on the play, and in real time it was impossible to see. The game was still on the line. Today the game was not on the line and they still reviewed the play.....only to get the call wrong on the field in the end. I'm not going nuts about last week....moreso the inconsistancy and the lack of common sense when and when not to review plays. There have always been "attempted" fixes...I know for a fact. All you need is a ref or 2....or a key skill position player to try his best to screw things up. Just to have such an ugly ending and go out of their way at the end of this game....I guess if I don't like it, stop paying attention. -

Wrong.....only if the pass hits the ground is the play called dead....it went from LT's hand to Chambers. The AP just released that the NFL said the call was blown and it should have been a TD, but they will not change the score. Refs Blow It -

Dwight Drane replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NBC just said...the penalty didn't matter....it should have been a touchdown. The league won't change the score even though it makes a difference in playoff tiebreakers. That was dirty......had to go out of their way to review a play that didn't need to be reviewed, reversed a call, then reversed the declining of the penalty, then fabricated a rule saying it was the end of the game. Heck, after watching the government and the financial markets the past few years, I don't expect Santa to come down my chimney anytime soon....but to purposely cluster-f something so bad.......sad. The only saving grace is that the TD itself was a 100-1 shot type of thing and people were ready for the emotional hit of a loss (pointspread). It was a miracle that was crapped on by the NFL and the refs. Anyone that has Steelers defense in fantasy also lost 8 points on that call. Nice job NFL. -

Dwight Drane replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was just like homerun throwback but reverse. I hate to admit it, but the pitch by Tomlinson looked like it might have gone forward....at least the ball itself. Tomlinson was running forward and had the ball behind him, so it looked like it was a legal play by about 2 yards. On TIVO in slow-mo, the ball goes sideways...and from the only camera angle I see....could even look like it was slightly forward. In real time....you would have to be crazy to throw a flag, sort of like homerun throwback should have been crazy not to throw a flag. Even so.....say that play happened and Pit was losing. You are telling me they would end the game on that play and say SD wins? What a cluster-F. -

I'm done......the Buffalonian in me knew I was going to get F'd out of that call somehow. How does that not SCREAM a fix? The outcome of the game was the same no matter what. After the goaline call aginst Stroud followed up by the phantom illegal onsides kick last week....now this....too close for comfort. 90% of the Refs must have houses foreclosed on. Really.....take the fun out of it by pulling junk like that. -
Interesting Event yesterday...
Dwight Drane replied to SD Jarhead's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The irony is, I believe the woman that hung the flag actually did it out of Patriotism. She thinks the Big Cats of the world have taken over the country....and she just may be right. I fully understand getting riled up, especially being a service member....but I see where she is coming from. Maybe in poor taste, but I bet that chick would pick up a .22 and shoot the wiggleworm from between Big Cat's pelvis without much coaxing if it came to that. The best selling flag on Amazon.com for the year....."Don't Tread On Me". What's that tell you? -
$52 billion merger held up by the price of beer
Dwight Drane replied to bills_fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
We are somebody!!! They broke into CNBC with the newsflash and the chick almost broke out into full blown laughter as she read the release. A multi-billion dollar deal hinges on Buffalo keeping cheap beer. F-Yeah! -
Notice how the counters and sweeps that worked the first few weeks are no longer working? Reed is 70% of our problems. Edwards LOVES Reed because Reed knows how to get open and knows how to run timing routes. Edwards is hesitant because teams just play Evans over/under and force Trent to dink and dunk to the likes of Royal/Hardy/Parrish/etc. Hardy is close to clueless, Parrish isn't the brightest bulb either, but at least he is game and can make plays, and Royal is Royal. Freddy Jackson is a weapon when Reed is in there because the defense now has to account for 3 true threats in Evans (long and stops), Reed (underneath and timing), and Jackson (flares, screens, draws). When Reed is out, teams can cheat both up on the line to stop the run and Jackson, and cheat back preventing any big plays to Evans....while leaving Reed's territory open for guys like Royal and Hardy to be forced to make plays. Jackson is good because of his quickness/shiftiness/and smarts....not because he is a blazing receiver. The O-line is only as good as the system. If things aren't working and Defenses are bringing people or receivers aren't getting open....it's over. Josh Reed on his own is not a Pro Bowler. What he brings to this offense in terms of synergy is so important. The front office blew it by not having any insurance in the form of WR/TE.

Key Plays by the Men in Black and White
Dwight Drane replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that there were some fishy uncontested things going on. The Simpson play to start...then the Stroud call and failure to review the onsides. Makes one wonder. We would lose no matter...but I'm thinking $$$ -
I don't think he mean't "good" as in good....I think he meant "good" as in lots happening. Maybe I'm wrong. There really isn't too much to say. They signed the bailout.....it was a coup. That is the final sign that they are going to move the goods out the backdoor before they burn the joint down. Typical gangster move. Now people are seeing the real world effects starting to take hold. The real economy "died" in July. We have been on life support since then. An average business I talk to is down 20% year over year. People are IOU'ing each other to death and making trades and backdeals since they are out of cash. It's going to be sad. I didn't comment on the election, but after watching Obama bring 200 people on stage yesterday...I think it is a clear signal that he is going to attack everything with Big Government. Not only that, you don't have time to bring in all these 'Chiefs" and research for a thesis paper on the economy that will be written in 2 years....you need to decide what you will do on a domestic and worldwide level, and NOW! Plenty of socialists and commies on that stage yesterday. In all reality, the stage has already been set and I'd put a good size wager that we have the next few years to crap our pants at will. It's only a matter of time before we have a UN flag flying overhead. Silver is fine. It's selling $4-6 over paper price. I could find good silver (Maples/Eagles) cheaper when spot was $15 instead of the $10 it is at now. Just another fine example of the fraud going on the past year to surpress anything anti-dollar and stock market. There are rumors going around that some big players will try and get enough contracts to force COMEX to open their vault for physical delivery....and then bankrupt the ETFs. That would be scary. I'll post more when the big stuff starts taking shape.

The problem isn't GM itself....once again it is all the financial instruments tied into a GM failure. That is the sad fact of financial life now that there is no answer for. Those that say "don't force a mark to market" and that will solidify the banks....when GM goes under, there are so many defaults that will trigger that it will take many down with it. You can only pretend by not forcing mark downs on real estate....but the real economy has plenty of other bets going right now that are in deep doodoo. You can't pretend anymore when it requires either a $20 billion per month cash infusion from the government to prop up the industry, or a mass default and payout on credit default swaps. We are still only 15-20% into this "crisis". The world is calling for a global banking system, and the sad fact is that will be the easiest way out for the US. We could restructure ourselves out of a bankruptcy and end up with government oversight of everything. That would be a real redistribution of wealth. If the US plays hardball....which they obviously aren't, we get the dollar sold out from us anyhow by our creditors. Obama is in for a reason. People are in love and there is a much better chance they will comply with a new banking system and a government work program to make up for the 20% unemployment. Of course there will be an escalation in war as well....if we play along as a people, it will just be a depression and the battlefront will be elsewhere. If the American people still have any balls left, there will be military deployed on the homefront and a real shot of a revolution of some sort. We've also had Biden, Powell, Albright, etc., say there will be an international crisis in the first days of an Obama administration. Why in the hell would they say that? Are they drinking the Drane Juice? GM cause a civil war? That's crazy! That's the point.....if you haven't figured out by now that there are no more rules and that we aren't in Kansas anymore, you will soon. Things have happened pretty much as I have said so far. If anything they have gone slower than expected...which to me signals that the US has waived the white flag and is standing down. If the powers that be really had any fight in them, this would have come to a head by now. At best we will be just another European country. At worst, Mad Max. The days of the good ol' USA are toast.

Just got back from Grant Park
Dwight Drane replied to The Big Cat's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
In all honesty...that's pretty cool to be at a historic moment like that. For better or worse, it is monumental. As for race relations....the only time I felt a bit uneasy was standing in line at the bank a few days after Katrina hit. I would always go to this bank, and would often be one of or the only white person there....but they had CNN on with live footage of the people in New Orleans. Not a good vibe. -
