Over/Under - Bills 2009 wins
Dwight Drane replied to buffaloaggie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you want to put a positive spin on it, we are only projected to finish 1 game out of the playoffs. I am all over Minnesota over. -

I bet if you showed this to Turk Schonert, he would say I'm being too nice to the guy. I'm just happy he seems to have kept himself out of trouble to this point. -

There is a difference between saying he is a bust, and saying in all probability he is a bust. I am saying the later. In 5 years James Hardy will be: a) A HOF WR in the making........0.1% b) A starting #1 WR in the NFL.....2% c) A starting #2 WR in the NFL.....12.9% d) A specialty WR with decent playing time 20% e) An injury fill in or traning camp invitie 25% f) Out of the league.....40% -

I take it you weren't a statistics major in college? That's ok....many here don't understand relation and probability. And I am sick of the "If you're so smart...why aren't you a GM?" comment. There are 32 NFL GMs. You are saying that just because you are a GM, you are good at what you do. You are implying that because I, or someone else isn't a GM, that our opinion on player development is worthless, or at minnimum not as qualified as a GM. There are less than 1000 members of Congress. Does that mean that I or anyone else doesn't have the right to critique them? Do you feel that all of those members of Congress are more qualified than yourself to make a decision? Do you feel that those are the best and most talented people for that job out there??? I am sure there are reporters here that could have been accountants......accountants that could have been musicians.....musicians that could have been lawyers....lawyers that could have been doctors.....doctors that could have been car salesmen....and car salesmen that could be an NFL GM. It's a football opinion board......and when little things like facts, statistics, probabilities and intangables go into giving an opinion......it is much more solid than relying on HOPE. We HOPE Hardy turns into an average WR because he sure as hell wasn't last year. Well....you and others can hope all you would like. I could be wrong, but there is a better chance of Bass Pro being up and running next year than there is of Hardy ever going to a Pro Bowl. -

The biggest multiple for WRs that started slow and ended up making it is 5-6x stats. Hardy was on the field for a good amount of time this year. He started 3 games. His major asset was to run a 40 yard decoy pattern away from the play in hopes of taking the CB with him so it became a 10 on 10 drill with more room for the ball carrier to move. Hardy is coming off a major knee surgery. I predict the best possible year Hardy will EVER have is 45-600-7 I predict the most likely stats for Hardy's best year given comparable examples is 25-300-4 The Bills front office gets off the hook for this horrible pick because of the injury....and that's too bad. -

And there's no way you don't know I won't have dinner with Barack Obama, get him and his wife drunk, jump in the hottub with them, and then yell "Yahtzee!!!" at the climax of passion. But there's a pretty damn good chance it ain't gonna happen..... -

OK kids......for everyone that thinks anybody who feels that Hardy will not turn out to be a superstar, quality starter, or even a mediocre 10yr receiver, is a jackpot.....and for those that love pulling up Eric Moulds' name when showing the merits of waiting for a Wide Receiver to develop.....here are some stats. These are the WR's drafted by the Buffalo Bills over the past 20 years: Player................Round.........Rookie Stats............Best Year of Career Stats James Hardy .........2.............. 8-87-2.............................. ????? Eric Moulds ...........1............. 20-279-2.................... 100-1292-10 Lee Evans ............1.............. 48-843-9..................... 82-1292-8 Peerless Price .......2............. 31-393-3..................... 94-1252-9 Josh Reed ............2............. 37-509-2..................... 56-597-1 Don Beebe........... 3............. 17-317-2..................... 39-699-4 Russell Copeland.. 4............. 13-242-0..................... 42-646-1 Justin Armour....... 4............. 26-300-3..................... 37-538-4 Roscoe Parrish..... 2............. 15-148-1..................... 35-352-1 Reggie Germany.. 7............. 12-203-0..................... 12-203-0 Steve Johnson..... 7............. 10-102-2........................ ?????? And here are the rest...........all who combined for under 100 NFL catches Bucky Brooks Round 2 Sam Aiken 4 Avion Black 4 Kevin Knox 6 Fred Coleman 6 Millard Hamilton 6 Freddie Smith 7 Willie Harris 7 Kamil Loud 7 Drew Haddad 7 Brad Lamb 8 Chris Walsh 9 Barry Rose 10 Al Edwards 11 Now......I don't know what anyone else sees....but I see a list where anyone that was capable of cracking a lineup for any period of time contributed at least twice the stats in their rookie year than those of Hardy. Hardy played 14 games and started 3. We see names outplaying him the likes of.....Justin Armour, Reggie Germany, and Russel Copeland. We see career #3 talent such as Don Beebe, and Josh Reed....the guy supposedly so bad that Hardy was going to take his place in a matter of a few games....CLEARLY outplaying Hardy their first year. Now....when you look at career numbers, even the guys that had very good output their rookie season, were only able to moderately outpace that production during their best year as a pro, minus Moulds and Price. On that entire list, the only 2 players you could get a majority here to agree on as quality #1 NFL receivers are Moulds and Evans. The majority never developed into ANYTHING, let alone a starting WR in the NFL. Who do you see when you look at this list, then look at James Hardy? Do you see Eric Moulds? Or do you see Russell Copeland, Justin Armour, Roscoe Parrish, Reggie Germany? Or do you see Bucky Brooks? -

Russell Copeland, Justin Armour, Roscoe Parrish, Reggie Germany write those names across a 10 foot banner........write the name James Hardy on an 8x11 sheet of paper.......place a pin through said 8x11 sheet.......stand back 10 feet.......blindfold yourself.........approach banner......stick pinned sheet onto banner........take blindfold off.......see where James Hardy will end up ranked as a wide receiver in Bills history. -
no.....we all have normal BM's.

Howard Simon Show Love for TBD. "There's only one

And to think.....he could have gone to St. Louis but stayed here out of loyalty. Now he gets to sit next to Jeremy White every day. I think that might have been his Ken O'Brien/ Dan Marino moment. -
Lunatic.... He IS my uncle.

He was playing it up.....although they shouldn't let those guys do that.

Whitner was involved in a near riot in Cleveland but did not start it and was just trying to protect his family so it seems. The cops understood that fact, gave him multiple warnings at the scene, but finally had to taser him. That is from the media. My point is that here is a stand up guy who was reacting to a situation, but eventually the cops had to ring the bell. That is in contrast to Lynch who has been an instigator in certain situations. How long do you expect the force to let themselves and the public be put at risk? My source isn't BPD. I am not trying to gain attention. The incident happened over a month ago and I asked Tim Graham on his thread if he heard any rumblings about Lynch needing to be moved because of this. He said no. With Rhodes being signed and Freddy Jackson getting 4 years since the incident......I would be foolish to assume this is all by chance. I responded accordingly in a thread that asked that specific question.
-
I had no info on Hardy. I was going off my gut and general disdain for the pick. I made a wager, I lost, and I donated to an appropriate charity. The bottom line is that the cops are sick of having to deal with Lynch. The police look the other way dozens of times on athletes....they understand that the players are community assets. When a player continues to put others at risk by his actions, eventually they say enough is enough. You saw what happend to Whitner....and I consider Whitner a stand up guy. I like Lynch and I am disappointed that it looks as if this will not be a smooth ride. He needs to stay in lockdown in OP and bring the fun to him. Everyone has a right to go out and enjoy themselves, but they don't have the right to nearly start a riot or to act as if they are above both the law and social contract. That is as specific as i will get. I am sure one of the TBD reporting staff can make a call or two if they want to take the temperature of the situation.

I like him as a football player...attitude-wise. I am replying to a thread that was started that asked if the Bills are CYA with Rhodes and a long term deal with Jackson because Marshawn is a liability. The answer is yes. The answer is so much of a yes that I would hope the Bills are trying to move him as we speak. If Lynch doesn't back off his vibe...or whatever the KIDS call it these days, he will be toast. You want particulars...contact 74 Franklin St. or maybe ask around the West Side.

1) I speak of Taylor in terms of Lynch ending up dead. He has gone beyond the point of "boys being boys", AFTER his latest incident with the pot and the car. 2) The proper authorities have a running communication with the front office, and I am sure that the PTB at One Bills Drive are well aware of Lynch's continued hijinx and paper-thin patience of the authorities.
-
Lynch is quickly headed to PacMan Jones territory with a sprinkle of Marvin Harrison/Plaxico Burress/Sean Taylor if he doesn't cut the crap. The front office knows this and the question becomes, do they try and move him before this happens or do they get what they can out of him until it happens? The kid plays hard....it just looks like the respect he has for others on the field doesn't carry over to his social life. You can piss off some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time....but you can't piss off all of the people all of the time or else you will end up tried by 12 or carried by 6.

The Funeral Director is least informed. He sent the man over to the County Morgue to pick up the body of the Governor, but the Coroner wasn't done with the body so the Governor wasn't available for transport yet.
