The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
plenzmd1 replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
WTF??? and that relates to Fauci and his wrong proclamations how? Did't see it, will look now. TY -
that's not even close to true. while we own all the ones you stated outside TSLS and FB..our portfolio of about 25 stocks has been doing just fine since 17, and through this pandemic. Just to name a few winners driving our portfolio since then ADP, Adobe, Crown Castle, Okta, Coupa , Costco, Target...all massive winners the last 4 years Having said that, no doubt the lockdowns have widened the wealth gap...unintended consequences by those who only response to an issue is "Trump wants open? Thats all i needed to know we need to stay locked down"

here's the thing..anti Trumpers have made Fauci into an infallible God like human. However, he has been a wrong a ton in this pandemic..shocking, its a new virus and he is human. Dude deserves all of our respect, he knows way more than any of us hacks about infectious disease..but does not mean he is infallible. He did himself no favors with the " i was concerned about heathcare workers" remark...people saw right through that.. -

where does that guy get those numbers? Any idea? Great headline, prolly true..but interwebs and all, not buying all in based on a tweet i had several questions about the chart, but my question was deemed to political i guess in the other thread. What is your interpretation of the chart? I suck at reading charts, love The Ethical Skeptic on Twitter, can never figure out what they are trying to show either! -
@Augie does prefer to travel by Amtrak..

i agree on first point on data..too scattershot across regions and states. But is scary if we think Trump can manipulate it, but man that would be way to risky no? Worldometer has been pretty spot on..maybe the difference is cases are actives and positives are new tests? Although they have 62K active cases...kinda like we both said above LOL
-
well, we do know positives and deaths in Sweden are now basically zero.( wish i knew how to screenshot something here, maybe @shoshin can help me out. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/sweden/ It seems to me also saw graphs in the past that shpw death rate was much greater than the other Nordic countries, and wonder if the practice to triage the elderly had an impact on that. Whole nother debate that... going to be interesting to see the studies of things like this in the coming decade.

Mixed in America, in the Trump world
plenzmd1 replied to RocCityRoller's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
all good points @RocCityRoller, but i would point out that the same reaction comes from most of the MAGA supporters i know when we discuss politics. Impossible to discuss ideas or criticize Trump without being characterized as a "far left liberal" . It is the extremes at both ends that hold us back as a society. BTW, not to take this thread completely off the rails, but can you expand on your Russell Wilson comment? -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

no, what some of us liberals believe is that the far left, especially the media, has fear mongered this pandemic to make sure Trump looks bad no matter what happens. The effects of the fear mongering are what you have listed above...but the press just keeps pressing forward. See my posts on the Houtan Chronicle special obit section. That things is being rewteeted like crazy with people thinking " oh lord, so many people died last week in Houston and they have a 43 page obit section of Covid deaths" The reality is nothing close to that, it is over a several months timeframe and includes people who have dies of Covid, and drug ODs, and Cancer and just flat out old age. But it has been retweeted over 100K times in various forms and tweets, and the paper itself likes to tweets so much it refusing to come public and tweet the facts...that is fear mongering and baiting at its worst, all designed to make Trump and Abbot look bad..and is despicable -

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

not only that, i have volunteered to participate in the trials, but have not heard anything back. They asked a million questions, not sure if what i provided was what they were looking for. 58, skooch high blood pressure..should be getting to risk group they would want to trial it on....but i do have college kids and who knows if they will be living here or not( well i know is not..his ass back in Morgantown already LOl). Have a feeling that is why i have not been selected. it is funny Cuomo says he was following federal guidelines on the nursing home situation, but pounds his fist on and says the buck stops at his desk for all other decisions, including schools. -

Please provide the link to Israel spike and childcare and schools being linked. I can only find articles that state child care is closing due to a spike in positives..which is not the same thing. Be interested to see if their data is different than other countries. -

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Gets even worse today..from the WAPO( yes i still get it cause i like the local reporting and arts and food section) https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/child-care-centers-have-already-been-reopening-the-results-are-troubling/2020/07/13/3ce91a00-c53b-11ea-b037-f9711f89ee46_story.html Just click that link or even read it here..."child care centers are reopening and the results are troubling" Any normal, intelligent human being would think she was going to provide some reporting on outbreaks of Covid or transmissions of the virus from kids to teachers/aides etc. But no, it is a treatise on why child care facilities need more money to stay open, never doing the analysis to say , when people are locked down and eithe unemployed or working from home, and schools are not open, there is no need for childcare" And no, not one mention of anything scientific about the virus or transmission rates or kids being affected by social distancing etc. Just a plea for more government money. Unbelievable -

Look at this article about the Houston Chronicle. All over twitter they had a 43 page obituary section on Sunday due to the huge surge in cases. And here is the headline in Newsweek https://www.newsweek.com/texas-newspaper-prints-43-page-obituary-section-coronavirus-deaths-soar-1517297 But here's the rub My lord, does the press have no shame anymore? And i can almost guarantee the "covid party death, last words were I think i made a mistake " gaining steam is a fake as well... -

I was a big fan of Glee from the pilot. Seems like it may be a cursed show at this point. We all knew the news was coming, but how sad to find her body 7 years to the day Cory Monteith died. RIP Naya, may peace be with yuar family.

so, shocking...why is everyone so scared to say "hey, the majority of people at the protests were 20-29...that group is seeing a huge increase..everyone else is going down" https://nypost.com/2020/07/13/de-blasio-rising-coronavirus-rate-for-ages-20-29-as-worrisome/ -

i know plenty of folks who have had it, prolly approaching close to 20 now. Out of those 20, i'd say about half being being adults between 50-80..one person hospitalized, and that person was in ICU for two days and pretty damn sick. But this dude is a world traveler, and in ICU literally that weekend in mid March when all the poop hit the fan, and treatment etc was no where near what is is today. BTW,played golf with that dude the weekend before that, shaking hands , beers after..all regular golf stuff..but we did walk so prolly why i did not get it The virus is not a hoax, the reality of what danger the virus poses is the real hoax. -

people have been getting paid $1000 a week to not work...how in the holy hell does that equal $1200. Are you that freaking dumb? PPP loans in the billions to keep people getting paid and businesses open so they have a job to go back to. The fed backstopping the corporate debt markets so companies have access to the public debt and equity markets to keep millions of people employed. Do you not understand even basic economic theory? Do you understand that the government should not be handing out money to people not affected financially. and oh, just for fudge sake ..lets look at this https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/07/13/june-2020-budget-deficit-coronavirus/ Now i know why you hate capitalism, you too dumb to understand it
