  1. Well, i can tell you right now in Virginia we are averaging over 1K cases a day..or 30K a month..and certainly no talk here about an "outbreak" or cutting back on any thing that is open today..restaurants, churches, gyms( i am doing hot yoga again)..all retail..everything except inside bars really. So no, i would not agree that 20K cases in the 3rd most populous state in April would be considered an outbreak. Agree on last sentence..i believe Northam's mask mandate was wise here in VA early on, before most states. As said, i think the hotspot states right now should have stricter lockdowns..but i dont think NY should ..do you? NY had 906 new cases yesterday...900x30= 27K new cases over a month...less than the 20K cited above
  2. they certainly have overseen states with the majority of deaths....agree there.
  3. Thank you. Will stand behind him and respect whatever decision he makes. Also, wonder if he will play in Denver this year? https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/8335923/pittsburgh-steelers-ryan-clark-play-denver
  4. TY YOLO..am i reading that right that high risk player does accrue a season if they sit? That seems fair to me, and if I was the NFL i would prolly mandate a high risk player sit out..with full pay and an accrued season And hate to admit i am not sure what "contract tolls" means..and googling it has not helped me understand better in this context..can you explain? Thanks what would cause that?
  5. depends on the opt out clause in the new agreement, which i have not seen yet. If a player opts out but is still credited with a year of service, and Josh, or any player for that matter, opts out to avoid injury in a contract year...yep gunna have an issue. Think it abundantly clear by all accounts on social media Josh has not exactly been holed up on his farm all spring
  6. This tweet does not mention salary cap effects. Believe all decrease to cap will be spread over next 4 years, not just next year. As a Bills fan , i would have preferred longer...we have lots of young talent sign over the next 4 years...could put a strain on signing some of the homegrowns
  7. All people can be subject to mental abuse, not sure if abuse is the right word, maybe manipulation is better. I am dealing with friend whose behaviors and that of his wife have changed subtly over time, but now to the point he his totally dominated by her in every social situation and every decision "they" make is just really her decision. I don't believe there is any physical abuse, but man i do believe there is mental abuse I applaud (most likey, as i do not now) his desire to keep his family together and his restraint.
  8. All very similar patterns to NY ..my gut says if we had testing in January and February, NY would look just like these graphs
  9. I don't see the large outbreaks. All states issued disaster and emergency declarations to open up federal funds and assistance when everyone shut down in March . I don't see the spike you are talking about in these states before late June. Graphs courtesy of worldometers, maybe there is a different sire that shows something different? BTW, i am somewhat technologically challenged, TBD would not let me post the CA graph, will do in the next post. But CA was one of the first to close and last to open, and graph looks quite similar to Florida and Texas. I am not making the argument that people's behavior does not impact the spread of the virus. I am saying we erred as a country shutting down the entire country when it appears, at least to me, lockdowns should have occured, and should be occurring now, in those areas that have these types of outbreaks.
  10. @Hapless Bills Fan, good points. Again, I am not justifying or condoning or dismissing what is happening there. My only point was the article seemed to indicate that many many decisions were going to be needed to made in a daily basis, when in fact they have 3 people in ICU at the moment. as I mentioned and I talk to my wife all the time, I think this virus is following a pattern of going where it has not been before , and seems to me rural areas could be next. For all the reasons mentioned above, plus, and I am making a generalization here , the propensity of the rural population to be more “independent “ when it comes to some “ rules” scares the bejesus out of me. I worry for all the folks in rural areas now, I think that is where true carnage could happen with flu season.
  11. Thank you @Rubes, I know you could have helped people like me with your knowledge and background, but you articulated well why you refrain. You can always text me your thoughts?
  12. @Deranged Rhino, welcome back! Your takes all still suck, but missed ya( for the most part) Was just coming here to post the Portnoy interview. wish I know how to post pictures, would post them of Portnoy at our tailgate playing flip up last year!
  13. My dad sent me the Sunday and Monday Buffalo News sports section every week during Bills season from 1981 till he died in 2004. Sometimes he would even wrap a load of DiCamillos bread in the section. And man , when I saw it was a box instead of a large envelope I was pumped! No way I was telling him bout the internet!
  14. I represent that remark! Saw the one Gov was declaring last call ne 10PM...fine by me! Me and my blue haired friends start drinking at 3, done by 9! Close at 10 all ya want!
  15. the fear has always been when it gets to rural areas..these places just cannot handle more than a few cases of anything, let alone Covid. And sure as hell sucks for everyone involved...certainly most for those that die and their families, the doctors that need to make these ethical decisions, just everyone. Having said that, Starr County has a population of 66K, is very rural and is facing many of the same challenges from a health care perspective that rural hospitals are facing everywhere, way before Covid hit. Just a fact of life health care in rural counties in the US is dismal..but that's another debate for another time https://www.ajmc.com/conferences/academyhealth-2019/understanding-the-health-challenges-facing-rural-communities https://jamanetwork.com/channels/health-forum/fullarticle/2759647 And certainly understand the "fear porn" comment, but context is always important in these discussions https://www.themonitor.com/2020/07/22/starr-county-issue-shelter-place-order-end-week/ Of course any death is one too many...but the reality is these are small hospitals just not equipped to handle many illnesses.
  16. If you think restaurants are ground zero and Cuomo aint shuttin em down you ain't been following NYS so well..
  17. cleaner now then they ever been
  18. I don't, not at all. I do believe people went out once to a bar/party, leaning in close and talking loudly to try to hook( mis typed hood up..that too) up..and then got the Covid. Not buying one bit on restaurants.
  19. i sure as hell ain't wearing a mask if i am with 3 people who i live with or am with all the time etc...i think Fauci been wrong plenty , as has EVERYONE...let it go Fauci bashers. There is zero wrong with this picture
  20. That 24 hour rule cracks me up. Like your body cant contract Covid if you have only been in another state for 18 hours. Like your body has immunity for 24 hours, and then after that the immunity goes away. Would it not make sense for the opposite then? Someone visiting NY for only 5 hours should not have to quarantine right?
  21. No matter what ya think of Fauci, this is pretty damn funny i posted main board as well
  22. been to plenty of games with 30K and less fans..still a blast! And trust me, we will find a way to tailgate!
  23. Living in the Old Dominion, amazing how many things are named after the confederacy, even to this day. In Richmond we still have a Lee-Davis High School, The Freeman Rebels , and until a few years ago Harry Byrd Elementary . Byrd is the man/politician who wanted to shut down public schools in VA in opposition to desegregation. Prince Edward county schools were close for 5 years! google massive resistance to learn more! Lee , Davis and all iterations all over road names everywhere, rt 301 here in VA..pretty major thoroughfare, still Named Lee Jackson highway I believe
  24. Never, ever, ever a McDonalds...EVER!!!! I don't know why, but if you are going to not have paper towels at least buy some decent hand blowers. Even pre covid, hating going in McDs cause if i could not get to the TP to use to grab door handle to exit, had to use shirt or something else.Would not even use @Seasons1992 hands! No way was I grabbing that handle! PLus i now had wet hands! https://www.propublica.org/article/andrew-cuomos-report-on-controversial-nursing-home-policy-for-covid-patients-prompts-more-controversy ProPublica not exactly known as a bastion of conservative thought. In terms of the graphs, Florida, GA, TX, CA are look now suspiciously like Italy, Spain, NYC, did starting in March and April. We can argue that in the Covid thread. Also, I don't Cuomo would be taking near the heat he does if he was not taking victory laps and doing late night shows declaring victory and superiority while also overseeing the highest death rate in absolute terms and per capita .... and turning everything political ...which he professes he does not do. See Cuomo killing CA right now ike he is Fl and TX and the Feds? Wonder why that is?
