I just hate that phrase .. “ he is putting family first”. I don’t doubt Tre , or any of the players that have opted out , have not decided that is in the best interest of their family. I also don’t doubt the guys who have decided to play have made that decision in the best interest of their family. But they are bing made to feel like they don’t have their families beat interest at heart. why not say I respect the hell out of Matt Barkley for putting family first and playing?

Just take the phrase “ he is putting family first” out of it. are all the other players with kids not putting family first? Is McD being a selfish douche not putting family first? how bout the press and fans come out say “ man, I respect the hell out of Matt Barkley , he is putting family first and decided to not opt out” ....

This was my first thought actually, backups calling in starters etc. yikes.

I have one simple request. May have asked earlier, but not sure. It would be great if we as fans, and the media, get rid of the phrase “ he is putting family first”. to me , that implies every other father in the team/league that is not opting out is somehow a self serving scum bucket that is putting money over family. Can we just amend to say I respect the decision all players make, whether to play or opt out, and support them in either decision!

Figure i would put this here. Posting from the ATL airport. Flight out on Thursday, back today. Airports are freaking depressing ..for someone who used to travel a ton, they are just depressing. Although must say the boarding and deplaning process is much more civilized and should take permanent hold. Still have dolts lining up in queue even though they call by rows now. And still have a few idiots jump out in the aisle and run towards the front to deplane...but overall nice process.We were on Delta, so no middle seats...poor mans first class! People use the potties onboard much less, everyone masked up start to finish..overall some positive aspects. Prepacked snack pack with bottle of water, cookies, and nuts. The airports though ..man feels like ya doing something wrong. No buzz, no energy like normal. But Delta club had pour your own draft at one lounge, and Wicked Weed IPA here in the ATL, and the B gate club is about 30 % of capacity...

As @Magox said, he comes off awful when he says things like that. still does not take away from the point that less than .0004 of our population has died “ with” Covid in 6 months. very anecdotal, but I can tell you this. I was visiting and staying with a close friend this week that is the CFO of a major insurance company, a name we all know and see ya ads for all the time. they have seen zero statistical rise in life insurance claims vs the previous 10 years. If the damn thing was a crisis, don’t ya think that would be elevated even a little?

@BillStime, i saw that Axios interview and came away with two distinct impressions 1) Trump found it hard to pivot from his prepared talking point, no doubt. Scary, i agree 2) Trump should have jumped all over the "death rate as a percentage of population" thing...if we could get people to focus on that most of this hysteria of the virus would disappear. If as everyone believes we are handling the "crisis" worse than anyone out there, and after 6 months we the below calculation as the 'death rate"...wtf are we doing? S0 4/10ths of 1 percent.....and we have shut down the world...what in the hell are we doing? Do you think that is worth 10K kids dying a month of starvation? Millions of people losing their businesses and life savings? Kids losing substantial portions of youth experiences? This is insane
