Not that I am comparing the two players in any way with respect to their football ability or technique, but I gotta say hearing that statement makes me a little nauseous with Mike Williams deja vu.
I like Runyan a lot too...but he is a right tackle. Doubt he could make the switch, especially at this stage of his career.
That being said, I would still be all in favor of his signing.
My little buddy Winston is the picture in my profile. Just turned 1 year old this month (though the picture is probably 6 months old).
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel...Great dog.
No arguments from me. I think we have decent talent evaluators, but perhaps their priorities are not where they should be IMO (skill players v. trenches, luxury v. need, etc.).
FWIW, I was refering the Buter/Smith department, not the current one.
Steve Christie (also Plan B) and London Fletcher are the only ones I can think of that you left off.
Free Agency is an exciting time for fans, but I remember a year or two stretch back in the 90s when we didn't sign but one or two players (not big names either). That is the ideal to me. You have a good scouting/drafting department and you do a good job of keeping your talent.
To me, free agency is something teams get into when they aren't doing those two jobs.
Sadly, it's not really a question of "why" but "how." I don't think some folks around here could hold it in for very long.
But to answer the original question, I'd just want to watch the game with my dad. I don't care where we watch, but we should be together since he is the one responsibile for getting me in this mess in the first place.
I havent followed his pro career as much as I would have liked, but he was a monster at ND. Big-time leader and discipline guy.
Wouldn't mind seeing him here at all.
