  1. I'd take the redshirt. I can't imagine a team using a 1st rounder on him now...let alone a top 10 like where he was slotted. Downside is the offense will take a hit next year when Brohm declares so he may not be able to put up big time numbers.
  2. I don't know man...I'll take an honest and answer like that over a sports cliche anyday. Edge speaks his mind and what he said was a pretty good vote of confidence for his alma mater.
  3. Big man, you know I was just having some fun right? The original meaning of my comment was that I thought it was funny how when replying to a post about 8 big opening games, your only reply was a jab at ND.... Lookin forward to Saturday....
  4. @sshole... short story, we were at a ND tailgate, I didn't drink anything there because there are always cops, but I had a few beers earlier in the day. So its 5 minutes to kickoff and as we are leaving, a bunch of undercover cops came out and grabbed us and told us that they saw everyone drinking and we had to take breathalyzers. I refused b/c I know the cop was lying when he said he saw me drinking because I hadn't touched a beer. He told me that if I didn't do it then I would spend the night in jail. So I did it and I blew a .04....so obviously yes, I broke the law. But it just didn't feel right about how it went down. I felt like I got pushed around and I was pissed about it. And if I could help it, I didn't want a minor in consumption on my record. But yes, overall it was probably cheaper to just take it....$300 fine, 40 hours community service and 1 year probation vs. the lawyers costs.
  5. Sorry to join the party so late. Watched the game with some old roomates down in DC. Like dumbasses, we shaved our heads into mohawks like Tommy Z...now I look like I just went through chemo....no offense meant. So the game was whatever. Not at all what I was hoping for out of the offense, and a hell of lot more than I expected from the defense. The o-line sure looked shaky for having so much experience and one highly touted recruit. It's basically the same line as last year give or take so I expect Weis will get their heads right for Penn State. CJ did his thing, but I thought he was basically held in check. How sick was that hit Ndukwe laid on him the 1st half? I thought he caught everything.... Darius looked really good and the best part of the night was the re-emergence of Rhema McKnight. He was our best WR last year before the injury and he is going to shoot up the All-America boards this year...just watch. Bottom line, not the start I was looking for, but at no point in time did I think we were in trouble. Lost a few bills on the over/under bet (over 44.5 after a teaser?? come on that was money in the bank) but I am happy with a gritty win. This was by no means and easy game and fans of other teams in the top 10 sound retarded if they think we don't belong up there because we didnt blow out some 1-AA team at home. Going into G-Tech at night was no easy way to begin a season and I am very pleased to be 1-0. Bring on PSU...I've been waiting for this rivalry to come back for a long time.
  6. This team WAS different and I do see USA Bball going back in the right direction. That being said, I think they may want to change the way they select the team. I think they pick too many scorers who are used to being the number 1 option on the team. Sometimes big stars don't know how to comfortably play a background role. I'm not talking about jealousy and not playing together, I just think some players aren't very effective if they don't get into their rhythms. I think maybe they should limit the number of marquee scorers they put on the team. You need more role players to gel the team together. Then you would get a better team game. my two cents anyway...
  7. Sorry to hear about that John....hope you recover quickly. I'm no legal expert....yet (I hope to be one someday soon), but in terms of seeking legal counsel, I can offer this advice. First, definitely talk to another lawyer. It only limits your options if you don't. Second, since it sounds like you don't have any lawyer relationships, talk to someone you trust (friend, family member, co-worker, etc.) and ask them if they have a lawyer that they feel has done right by them. I'm sure someone you know has had at least one good experience with an attorney that wasn't grimy and backhanded (hopefully ). Anyway, give that lawyer a call and give him a BRIEF run-down of your situation. If it is not his field (which it very well may not be), he should definitely be able to refer you to a colleague that is in personal injury. And if he is a decent guy (like hopefully your friend said) he will probably refer you to someone who isn't a POS. I say this because, like others have mentioned, there is no shortage of greedy lawyers you could look up in the phone book who just look at you like a paycheck. But if you can get a referral from someone you trust, it is: a. very unlikely that this lawyer will treat you like the guy you saw AND b. if he can't help you, it is unlikely that he will send you to someone who sucks because then it looks bad on him. So FWIW, thats what I would do. I feel you on your reaction to the lawyer you saw. I had an experience with a lawyer in college who I just called to consult about an underage drinking ticket I thought might have been unjust. The guy basically laughed at me and told me I was a stupid college kid who should just take my punishment. Dickhead. So good luck...hope it works out for you.
  8. They have been hyped out the ass all off-season....and this is what they've shown so far: -0-3 -Outscored 101-20 -Outscored 63-10 in the first half (12-3, 17-7, 20-0, 14-0) Before a FG they just made minutes ago, they had allowed 55 unanswered points, with their last score coming via a TODD COLLINS touchdown pass vs. the Jets on August 19th. Just remember that when you complain out our preseason...
  9. I can think of one guaranteed result of that: 300 tards on the Stadium Wall would have gone into a frothing seizure (thanks JSP) which would have made the Donte Whitner situation look like a quiet debate.
  10. I think everyone should go back and edit their posts to include whether or not they think the performance they predicted will be good enough for JP to be seen as a long term option. That being said: 2900 yds 18 TDs 16 INTs 4 Rushing TDs And Yes, this will be good enough to: A. Keep us out of the Brady Quinn Stakes B. Earn JP the title of long term option as starting QB.
  11. Maybe if he we sign Davey, Josh Reed will remember how to catch.
  12. Finally...Rich made his first "hate on ND" post....the 2006 season is officially underway. You had me scared, big guy...didnt think you would make the Thursday deadline...
  13. The only athlete I have ever seen who possessed the mental edge that fuels Tiger, was MJ. These are guys who have minds built for competition. When the stakes get highest, it's like they have an extra gear up there.
  14. Mark May's fvcking retarded....he repeatedly makes off the wall predictions just to stand out and then never concedes anything when he falls on his face. Plus he hates ND. I'm sure he has us losing 3-4 games this year just like last year when we were going to "surely start 0-6."
  15. Durrr....that took quite a while. Big Red No Mas...
  16. Thanks everyone....and thanks for the birthday wishes. Hopefully, this fall, Sundays from 1-4pm will provide a break from my imprisonment, not a way of twisting the knife deeper.
  17. Thank you! You know when I was little I used to be jealous of the kids who had "school year" birthdays...they would get a cake and a party and everything. I always wished my birthday would be during school once....
  18. I need help with currency exchange rates.... No really I started my legal education this morning and I gotta say it's not too bad so far. I've been working for a law firm for about 6 months so thankfully everything isn't completely greek to me. But I know its gonna get very rough, very soon. So any lawyers, law students, smartasses or Holiday Inn Expressers out there want to give me that one piece of invaluable advice that makes all the difference? Or maybe you can be the 689th person to tell me that my life will suck for at least another year....your choice of course. I'preciate it
  19. Setta is a fast MF...I guarantee you wouldn't see many return men blowing by him. But I don't think he's good enough to warrant a spot. Side Note - the guy pulled an incredible amount of ass in college....never understood it. I always heard about girls gettin on it but the guy seemed goofy to me...and his voice sounded like Kermit. strange sh--....
  20. I'm glad he got in trouble while he was still in school. It appears he can't stay out of trouble so it was most likely going to happen sometime. I'm just glad he didn't get the chance to fleece some NFL team for a few mill first... Plus, since he never really made it big, he won't get superstar legal treatment. He might actually have to pay for his crimes instead of doing a few dozen hours of community service.
