  1. you serious? you would root for a Big 10 enemy over ND?
  2. Jesus what a tragic situation. I hope his children are able to somehow reconcile this....they are going to need a lot of support in the coming months. It just goes to show how little you know about people...even if you "interact" with them on a daily basis. I mean you read someone's thoughts for years and you think you got a good bead on the kind of person they are or how they are feeling at a given time. But most of the time you really have to have a face to face. I do hope to meet many of you in the future.
  3. I agree with a lot of the comments here about athletes being paid; they are vastly under-compensated. I also find it comical when fans, alumni, etc. criticize players for leaving school early to go pro....as if the school is anything more than a vehicle to a higher level and opportunity for serious earning.
  4. Agreed. Plus I really think he can help this team most (presently and in the long run) by being on the sideline. He is no longer good enough to make a serious positive impact with his skills and the team is not close enough to any plateau that he would push us over. Being off the field he will be able to coach our rookies more effectively while allowing them to use that coaching in the most valuable way. Tough move for management to make, and even tougher for a 10+ vet to agree to. I'm proud it was done.
  5. We'll be ready....I'm worried about Hart and Woodley a bit, but I think it will be alright. I think Michigan is a top 10 team this year, but I'm not afraid of them in South Bend. If we were going to the Big House on Saturday, it might be a different story. Nice article on the game....Michigan mainly Link
  6. I wouldn't be too worried about those boys in Vegas...somehow they usually know what they are doing.
  7. I got one for you: 2 - the number of times I wished Antoine Winfield was back on the Bills as both McGee and Greer shot by their WR on a quick pass. Man that guy could tackle...
  8. I'll take a shot. They felt jilted about the Hutchinson situation and foolishly overspent for an mid-level WR just so they could satisfy a need for revenge. About 24 hours later they realized what they had done and have been planning to get a real WR ever since. Unfortunately, in their desperation to fix problem 1, they have disregarded the fact the Branch has never been and will never be a premier #1 WR. He went from above-average to instant hit because he received a Super Bowl MVP award for the reason that they didnt want to give Brady 3 in a row. whew..
  9. You finally did it....a post I like. Edit: Actually, I must begrudgingly admit that I've liked a lot of your posts of late. Same good understanding of the game, yet less prickish. Cheers!
  10. I posted something similar in my thread about the game. Next year's matchup could present similar situations but for the opposite teams. We are losing our entire offense practically. The only consolation is that we have some good young WR recruits and Jimmy Clausen. Plus Darius Walker will most likely be back. I'll tell you right now that we will not be blown out....but I will chalk this one up right now as a probable loss. If Weis can go into Happy Valley next year and steal a win, his coaching acumen will go up several notches in my book. But Rich, sorry you waited so long for what happened Saturday. I was only 9 for the "snow bowl" but I remember it very well. Growing up in PA, Penn St. was always my second team, and I looked forward to last weekend for a long time. I remember joking with a buddy of mine (PSU alum) a few years ago that when the rivalry finally began again, it would be between two fallen programs. Notre Dame is obviously back where they belong and although this weekend was ugly, Penn St. has a lot to be happy about. Here's to the continuation of a great rivalry between two storied teams... and I hope to make the trip to State College next year too...
  11. I'm pretty sure JP burned one in the 3rd quarter and then we used two on the Pats' final drive...
  12. WOW....crazy deja vu. I also went to Negril for Spring Break my freshman year. I swear I heard that sentence a dozen times. What a crazy place...
  13. Not exactly the showdown that was anticipated by many. Penn St. has a lot of upside, but mistakes cost them greatly. I think the game would have been a lot closer if the ball had bounced their way a few times or a few players stepped up in key situations (#2 dropping that bomb, Morelli short arming the TD in the corner, Morelli taking care of the football on the fumble TD). ND's defense is so much better than last year, but it's not there yet. Too many big gains for Penn St., too many times the LBs just got taken out of the play allowing 6-10 yd runs. The secondary was solid...got burned a few times, but made up for it with game changing plays. The offense seems to be getting back in sync. Penn St. wasn't going to give us Samardzija, so we took Carlson and McKnight all day. Walker looked really good running against a tough PSU run D....and he so nice on screens, reminds me of a little thurman sometimes. Well I do hope we get our spots back in the polls....there was a lot of sh*t flying around last week about how we weren't near to contending for a NATL championship. I suppose it's easy to say we didn't belong in the top 3 when we played a close game at a very solid college, while the other powerhouses smashed on AA schools... We aren't the best team in the country (I don't think), but I think this game showed that we will be tough to beat for ANY other school and we deserve to remain in the spot we started. But we'll see... PSU and fans...nothing but love for you....next year should be a fun one (with yall probably having the upper hand)
  14. Well despite all the hate being tossed around here, I ordered the Lasagna Pizza tonight....(girlfriend loves Pizza Hut...I'm not a huge fan so I figured I'd try the new thing). After eating it, I don't see how it resembles lasagna. It's just like a regular pizza, only with sausage (???) and some other type of cheese under the mozzarella (ricotta like but I think something else). Definitely weird and definitely no better than anything else Pizza Hut makes. Everytime I eat a slice of pizza, I miss NYC.
  15. should the bills even bother suiting up? my mute button is going to get a good workout this weekend... Let's see if ESPN can turn this into another HEROIC comeback
  16. Oh I know...it was just everything about it looked bad for Tillman. He got there late, he got beasted in the mid-air collision and then Washington fell on top of him.
  17. There are so many things I still can't believe about Corey Moore. 1. I can't believe he broke Bruce's sack record at VT 2. I can't believe we drafted a DE that weighed less than some DBs now and just expected him to be a sweet LB. 3. I can't believe he sucked so much. 4. I can't believe he actually got shot in the leg. 5. I can't believe despite all that he still wasn't our most disappointing pick that year.
  18. Well at least one player in Butler's finest draft is still cashing an NFL paycheck. My recollection of Tillman was he ranked somewhere between shltty and mediocre. Didn't realize he had such staying power...
  19. Actually I'm surprised he held out that long....30 minutes and two possessions before his first trick play. Maybe he is changing.
  20. How much you wanna...bet...he doesn't get in any trouble whatsoever? I mean look how much trouble Randy Moss got in for admitting to smoking weed on the record....
  21. Bro teasers and parlays are the end of me. I see those big payouts and lose sight of what I'm doing. The best way to make money betting (in my experience) is to just pick one game that you are the most confident about and have the sac to put a lot down on it. It's when you start to get cute that the money disappears real quick.
