Yeah that's pretty much the same thing as letting Nate walk... Bottom line is Nate will most likely want to be paid top 3 (or hell even #1) CB money this offseason. He is not a playmaker anymore. He misses tackles, he gets beat more than occasionally. The reason everyone thought Winfield should walk was that he didn't get enough INTs. When is last time Nate picked one off? He is a solid player and one whom I would love to keep around for years. But he is not elite and does not deserve to get paid money that could handcuff this team in the future.

This team can still make a statement. Show some pride, bounce back in the 2nd half and make this game respectable. Stop getting pushed around...getting beat is one thing, getting beat UP is another. How a young team reacts to extreme adversity shows a lot about how they will progress.

Sadly, this is not the first time I have seen this sentiment on this board. Takeo Spikes was a top 3 OLB before his injury, had an absolutely beautiful 2004 season AND in his only action THIS YEAR, he got a sack and forced a fumble that was returned for a TD. IF he can return to his pre-injury form, then he is our best defensive player, and possibly best player overall. PERIOD. His salary is big because he deserves it.
