  1. Yeah I see your points and I did the break down as well. I guess I just see how the winners of these leagues each year are the guys who have that one (or more) player who has a monster game in the last week. Teams that are steady and consistent (like mine) will beat that type of team 3 out of 4 times, but in the playoffs I will probably have to play 3 teams with a gamebreaker and I don't like my odds of surviving. I guess I feel its better to gamble a bit. But I feel you on Westbrook's injury problems. That is one of my concerns. You think I could pry LJ away from him?
  2. waaaaahhhhhhhhh. Flowers needs to tell us all how he was "offended" by the location of the filiming of a DVD music video. There are worse things in life, Brandon. Complain about something useful.
  3. Yeah WRs went early this year, I got Smith and Driver and by the time I went for a third, guys like Peerless were left. No worries though, Winslow is solid, Shockey is coming around and Crumpler, while erratic, is Vick's only threat and can pay off serious dividends (this week).
  4. I'm 6-1 and in 1st place in our league (10 team league), but my roster is devoid of any "breakout" players (except Steve Smith). Everyone is solid every week and I have loads of depth...I just feel like I might want to make a move for another gamebreaker. Now that LT, LJ, etc. are getting on track, a few other teams are outscoring me each week. Trade I'm thinking about: I'm offering Frank Gore and Donald Driver for Brian Westbrook. In our league, catches count as a point so pass-catching RBs are gold. Start 2 RBs, 3 WR/TE. My WRs/RBs Edge (My first rounder...yeah) Gore Reggie Bush Steve Smith Donald Driver Kellen Winslow Alge Crumpler Shockey So I feel like I can absorb the hit of losing my #2 WR since I am deep there. Driver is averaging 15.3 Gore 18.2 and Westbrook 22.5. (He also has LJ who is averaging 27). What say you?
  5. I'm actually pretty confident. I thought people were being overly generous (optimistic) in this thread. I said: 2900 yds. 18 TDs 16 INTs 4 Rushing TDs He is on pace for: 3000 yds. 14 TDs 14 INTs 2 Rushing TDs I think he will have a better second half and I expect him to throw more TDs than INTs.
  6. Obviously you can have good run blockers and bad pass blockers, but it does not change the fact that Bledsoe gets sacked more than other QBs with the same line. I did not watch the safety play. I have seen enough of Drew over the years to understand that he is clueless in the pocket. He can be very good if he has a very good o-line, but regardless, the fact is that he makes the line worse and is much worse at avoiding sacks than the average QB.
  7. No YOUR point was that Dallas had a sh*tty offensive line. Have you already forgotten that? Or are you trying to backpedal? MY point was that you are completely wrong. Dallas is a dominant rushing team, who is at the top of all rushing categories. Tony Romo comes in and is sacked HALF the times as Drew Bledsoe with more than TWICE the attempts. Yeah it's probably the offensive line that sucks.
  8. I'll raise you one more, guess who is number 2 in the NFL in rushing yds. per game? A) Buffalo B) Dallas hint...it's not Buffalo.
  9. Willis McGahee is 2nd in the league in Rushing attempts and 4th in yds. If Julius doesn't get a single more yard tonight, he will be 12th in attempts and 6th in yds. Try again.
  10. Or....let's think of what the other possibility is. Going into tonight, Julius Jones has been averaging 100 yds. per game and 4.6 yds. per carry. Their line must suck. Tonight Tony Romo has more pass attempts than Drew, yet Drew was sacked 4 times and Romo 2 (in a situation where the Giants defense knows the Cowboys have to pass and can tee off). Yup, it's definitely the line. There are some good things about Bledsoe, pocket presence is not one of them. Blaming the line is delusional.
  11. No, if ND doesn't beat Navy convincingly or plays a team like South Florida and loses, then we can talk. If Rutgers beats, L'ville, then we can talk. Squeaking by Division I bottom feeders is not the mark of a great team. Notre Dame plays both Navy and UNC...we can visit it again after that.
  12. When it rains, it pours. And I'm not talking about the Bills...
  13. SnJ and Blue Fire (not going to call you BF), I see you both ranked ND above where I had them. I think they can beat any team in the country (and have the firepower to do so) but their inconsistency has staggered me. What they did vs. Penn State was obscene. Utter domination (take notes Ed) of a very solid football team. But Michigan was ugly, Michigan State could have been uglier and UCLA was lucky. Plus they struggled against a G-Tech team that lost big to Clemson (albeit at Clemson). They could be special, but I just have the feeling that if they get into a BCS Bowl, they better bring their A game or it could look a lot like last year's Fiesta Bowl.
  14. For an ND alum, I am actually not that high on Brady Quinn. I had my issues with him his sophomore year and his junior year before he suddenly looked like Peyton Manning. But I was partially blinded by his and the team's unexpected success. He still has the same faults he's always had. He can't throw the deep ball (arm strength is fine, accuracy is not) and he has complete brain farts every now and then. Then this year he has struggled with his touch on short passes at times. A lot of this has had to do with the O-line taking a major (unexpected) step backwards this year. He has been hurried and hassled way too often. Plus we have had an erratic (at best) running game leaving the pressure almost completely on him and the passing game. Having said all that, I think he will have the most success of any QB coming out this year, at least intially. Just like Matt Leinart, he played in pro-style offense with an experienced OC (in this case one with Super Bowl credentials). He will understand the pro game much easier and more quickly than his rookie counterparts. He has a chance to have early success, even if the talent around him is not at an all-star level (see Roethlisberger, Ben). He will struggle with a bad O-line (just as any QB though). He can move in the pocket but he is no Mike Vick (or even JP Losman) when it comes to running ability. I would love to have him here if (1) Losman is not the answer (which I hope he is) and (2) He was not projected to be a top 5 pick. I think he is worth a mid-low 1st rounder, but he will never last there (and we may not either).
  15. Ed, you can't say that they "utterly dominated" all of their opponents and then either ingore or brush away games that they did not. The amount of times a team "plays a horrible game" against a weak opponent is an indicator of how good they are. I mean I guess Notre Dame "utterly dominated" everyone too. Vs. Michigan Brady Quinn played a horrible game, amassing bad throws and interceptions. Vs. UCLA the score should have been 37-17. Notre Dame played a horrible game, blowing key third downs and allowing sacks.
  16. For the other, less-relevant BCS, check em out here. But for the latest unveiling of my rankings: BCS Week 2 1. OSU (--) 2. Michigan (--) 3. USC (--) 4. Florida (+1) 5. WVU (+1) 6. Tenn (-2) 7. Auburn (+1) 8. Louisville (-1) 9. Clemson (UR) 10. Texas (--) Honorable mention (in order): (ND, LSU, Ark)
  17. I agree...I have always liked Felser. This article surprised me.
  18. Jesus that sounds exactly like the kind of sh-- that was posted here by our more "talented" members after the Bears game. And I like his imaginary "12 game limit" for Losman that he thinks was set by Jauron and Levy. I feel like Larry has been reading this board and unfortunately is picking up the pulse of the mentally unstable who drool this kind of stuff here after every loss.
  19. Supposedly there will be a 10 AM news conference to confirm. First they get rid of three players, then this.....pretty much a direct result of our foot still firmly planted in their ass. I LOVE IT
  20. That's the saddest vote of confidence I've ever heard. FWIW, I think they can definitely win.
  21. UCLA is a damn good football team. LOLOL all you want. They have lost 3 games, ALL away. Two of those losses have been vs. ranked teams by a combined 13 pts. They have a very good defense and played a helluva game with their backup QB. Both DEs looked amazing. They're obviously not going to make noise in the Pac 10, but if they had won today, they would be 5-2 and in the Top 25. A last minute drive that stole the victory today does not make them much worse.
  22. Believe it or not, I never thought we were going to lose at any point. But man what a rush at the end! UCLA is very good...a lot better than I had given them credit for. I would love to see that boy Hickman in a Bills uniform...3 SACKS today, 10.5 on the year and he was in the backfield ALL day! Season is still very alive.
