  1. No doubt. Good, bad or completely strange, it was usually entertaining. BTW, Tom...I hadn't read the last few pages of the stats thread. Missed out on the whole dice conversation. Very nice...keep up the good work. And it's sweet how you and T-Bone have found common ground.
  2. Actually, I have. HA is one of the few exceptions left. However, I guess I didn't put it on the same level because my statistics experience is limited to High School AP and one year of "Statistics in Psychology" at ND...and even that has left me. Much easier to determine extreme idiocy when the guy is talking about fried easy mac rather than regression towards the mean. But in most intellectual discussions, I have given you the benefit of the doubt, so assuming he is as dumb as you, Ramius and Coli say, it has been very entertaining. Plus, he hasn't melted down...he is staying surprisingly calm. I almost said discipline instead of endurance...which is more accurate. Most people would have abandoned HA a long time ago, but you keep pounding. For the sake of entertainment for the rest of us...very admirable.
  3. 1. DVD 2. Retatta 3. NJ Sue 4. One that no one has mentioned yet....B-Dawg12 loves Kobe Bryant...then loses his mind Harami's meltdown makes a strong case as well. But the Kobe thread I think may be one of the few threads that traveled on 3 boards (Stadium Wall to Off the Wall to PPP). If it had lasted 10 more pages, it might have been the best ever. Anyone hear Kobe got 81? He got 81!! Anybody? 81!!!!!1!!!111!!!! Eighty-FCKING-ONE!!! These things don't happen anymore. First, no one (except maybe Tom) has the enthusiasm and endurance to bring this kind of heat by himself. Second, it's rare that someone is willing to take a beating for so long, which is strange seeing how the retard pool seems to have tripled this season and we should have a huge crop of winners to choose from. Third, losing Stojan was big...he was always good for dumping 50-100 posts into one of these massacres. Finally, as Tater mentioned, they seem to get sniped before they truly get to grow into the special kind of trainwreck, clusterfck that they have the potential to be.
  4. So what? It doesn't hurt anyone....they don't want to say it, then they don't want to say it. Regardless of what you or I think about it, who are we to tell a Community College Student Government how to start their meetings?
  5. Those guys that do that site (Phat Phree) write some funny sh--. They usually only get a good one once in a blue moon, but when they get it...they fcking get it. This (below) is one of the funniest things I have ever read. However, it may be an age thing. If you are 18-30, I guarantee you can relate to seeing this sht. Older, maybe...but no guarantees. Striped Shirt
  6. I really hope that the Ohio St/Michigan game is a blowout one way or the other because it will cause serious chaos in the BCS, and hopefully, push us one step closer towards talking about a playoff system. IF Michigan blows out Ohio St., and ND, Rutgers, Florida and Texas win out...who gets the title game? ND because our only loss would be to clear cut #1 team in the country and we would have a win AT a big time opponent (USC). Rutgers because they would be undefeated (probably the only other one) and have wins vs. UL and WVU Florida because they would have gotten through the SEC AND SEC title game with only one loss and would have the best resume of quality wins. Texas because their only loss was to Ohio St. early on and they have since beaten a few very good teams and have improved steadily throughout the year (Colt has better numbers than Quinn!) And if USC beats ND, they would have several quality wins and the only blemish being a narrow loss. IF Ohio State blows out Michigan.... ND for the same reasons (but our case wouldn't be as strong) Rutgers...same Florida...same Texas...same but better (loss coming early to clear cut #1) USC...same Plus, this scenario could play out with several other teams...WVU crushes Rutgers, what about them? Arkansas wins the SEC...they should have just a good a shot as anyone. Cal beats USC (who beats ND) and wins PAC 10....??? Auburn? I'm sure the dust will settle and clear a lot of this stuff up in the next few weeks, but I can't remember a time where it looked like at least 5 teams could all have potentially equal arguments for a title shot. There will be a lot of unhappy people come selection day.
  7. Congratulations Rutgers and Ed! They showed a lot of heart and hunger. It was obvious who wanted this game more. They deserve to be mentioned among the top teams this year. That being said, I'd still love to lay serious money against them playing OSU, Michigan, Florida, Texas, Notre Dame and USC at a neutral site where thousands of Jersey Rutgers fans aren't dominating the atmosphere like it's a Bon Jovi/Springsteen 3 day concert. They are good, and most likely the best team in the Big East. But that isn't enough, IMO, to get them into the NATL title game. Of course this can/will change in the near future as they start to string together successive winning campaigns and real bowl bids. Plus, they will get their chance to prove the doubters wrong by scheduling a big-time, non-conference game (ND in 2010?) But take nothing from them, they are an excellent football team.
  8. I'll echo Bluefire...you're all over the place here. But I wouldn't worry about Louisville, since the only two teams that could beat Rutgers are Michigan and Ohio St. That being said, good luck and have fun! Nothing like going back to your alma mater for one of the biggest games in recent history against a highly ranked opponent. Unless of course you lose because your CB lets up a 65 yd completion on 4th down, the ref spots the ball way too close to the goaline after a fumble and a heisman winner cheatingly pushes their QB into the endzone for the win. I'm rooting for UL because one of my boys lives there, but I wouldn't mind at all to see Rutgers get the W.
  9. I actually don't think a Bruno movie is a good idea. Partially, my own personal opinion, I think Bruno is his weakest character (although he does have his moments). But also because it is almost a lock to be a disappointment. Borat's success is spreading like wildfire and after the smoke clears, people are going to expect him to top it when he does the Bruno movie. That's just not gonna happen... As to your question, I really hope he can come up with some new characters. I mean Ali G and Borat are done. No new material may ever come from either of them. Cohen is smart enough to think of new ways to embarrass people, the challenge will be finding a the right medium.
  10. Well, first, I am of the opinion that Nate will want to become the highest paid CB in the NFL next year and that we will not be the team to meet that demand. So with that thought in mind, I wouldn't mind trading him right now for a few cases of Red Bull to give this lifeless team a little energy. However, I don't see why KC would want to trade Trent Green, unless they know something about his concussion that we don't. And if that is the case, we don't want him. I don't think we want him anyway...he's getting a bit old.
  11. Woah...that's the sickest thing I've heard anyone say around here since this disaster:
  12. Had me fooled too. Although tomorrow will mark the end of the 137 year drought for Rutgers playing in a meaningful game.
  13. What is your point? That some nice resident from Coral Gables shot Pata? Or maybe that Coral Gables is too far away from the city that anybody could possibly get there?
  14. I think Coker is really insignificant in the bigger picture. The culture of the U has been more or less the way it is now for awhile. It wasn't Coker or Butch Davis that started it, they just kept it going. And I honestly think Coker has tried to tone it down, but I don't think he has a whole lot of say as to what types of people the school recruits. That check was signed a long time ago. But if things keep going downhill and, more importantly, if the team stops winning, there will be some changes.
  15. You are probably right...however "innocent until proven guilty" is still a pretty important idea in my mind. Especially when talking about someone who just died... But no harm in playing devil's advocate.
  16. My main point is that I am not ready to judge his character and write off his murder as another thug until I get more information. Additionally, I am not going to act like the U seeks out all the violent athletes from across the nation. A lot of the guys on the team are from Miami. Maybe this has more to do with who they are than what school they go to. Maybe Pata was a thug hanging out with other thugs as you suggest. And just maybe this was because of the city he grew up in...
  17. No. I'm saying that being a well-known, soon-to-be-rich (and possibly currently loaded) semi-celebrity living in a dangerous area can be more than enough to get you robbed or killed. Being a football player at the U most likely makes him a target, regardless of how he acts or who he associates with. You think 'thugs' and their friends are the only victims of violent crime in Miami?
  18. No, it's not. Miami is a dangerous place. Los Angeles is a dangerous place. Cities with high crime rates are dangerous places. Colleges located in such places can become dangerous. But for every U Miami, there are 50 hacky-sacking, frisbee tossing, pot smoking, binge drinking, relatively safe campuses.
  19. RIP I'll echo some sentiments: 1. Not acting shocked that this took place at the U is not grounds for being an @sshole. It just isn't that shocking... 2. Blaming this guy or justifying his murder because of his school is pretty lame. I'm not so sure that he was a choir boy, but the fact is that no one knows at all who he was or what he was doing when this happened. This will most likely be uncovered soon, but until then, making guesses about how innocent a recently murdered man was, is pretty disrespectful. 3. One of the best points made in this thread was that the city of Miami has a lot to do with this, probably much more so than the school's reputation.
  20. It's a good one...Season One, Last episode (#6) I believe...
  21. True in some cases, but I think that is way too general a statement. It all depends on how many candidates you are voting for and who they are. Today, I chose two democrats because I like them and I can't stand their opponents. Straight ticket? Yes. But I don't think that makes me seriously ignorant or uninformed. People who vote straight tickets can be very ignorant and set in their ways, but voting in that manner is not necessarily a mark of such qualities.
  22. 16th District PA - Voted for all Democrats Bob Casey Lois Herr However, if I was registered in DE (where I just moved) my ticket would have been predominately Republican. It's the candidate, not the party...
  23. Or worse...people might start using contraceptives!
  24. I don't get HBO anymore, but I have the two seasons on DVD. Hopefully they will show the following ones on the marathon (if they haven't already): -Anti-abortion rally....asks the priest if he ever got a ho pregnant and makes fun of a guy who is still a virgin by choice. -Tree huggers....tells the guy that his song about nature sucks and then tries to tell the audience that these anti-violence people will come with guns and bombs if you don't back down -Trying to market his ideas for a novel..."they should make a book out of Lord of the Rings" + Romance novel for women with a vibrator attached -Plus the best and most classic Borat of all-time...Throw the Jew Down the Well.
