  1. I'm not sure if you are talking about the "abortion is evil and let's also hate birth control" argument, but if you are, that one is my favorite. Anti-choice people equate abortion with murder and therefore see it as an evil barbaric act. So what is one of the most popular "solutions"?? Let's condemn birth control and preach a dated and unrealistic practice of abstinence. Because then abortions will rarely happen because there will be so few unwanted pregnancies! Because all the kids will listen! Talk about ass-backwardly, picking the worst battle...
  2. Great rundown, man! Thanks. My comparison to Samardzija wasn't just about numbers, but also about playmaking ability. The guy can just bust the big play at any given moment. But I expect the NFL speed to put a stop to that more the most part. CJ sounds like the truth.
  3. The day suits come with hoods and pull strings is the day Bill Belicheck puts one on. He's got Weis doing the sweatshirt thing now at ND! Weis used to wear a nice ND polo or turtleneck and khakis. But he was on the Patriots staff too long and developed BHSS (Belicheck Hoodie Slob Syndrome). It can lay dormant for a year or so...I'd look for Romeo Crennel to develop signs either early winter or possibly next fall. Mangini could hold out for another year.
  4. Something is strange about that article. In addition to the OU screwup, it also claims that he was wrong about Auburn too??? "OU is 16th in the poll this week, five points behind Auburn, which Kleinpeter voted at No. 8 because he thought the Tigers had beaten Georgia when they lost 37-15." I thought maybe the article was being sarcastic...I hadn't read about it anywhere else, but if that is the case...WOW. Screwing up TWO games in one week!! I think I will start sending in my own Top 25 rankings to the AP board and tell them that I will be replacing this clown from here on in.
  5. Fair enough...and I have no problem with the pledge. But I think that electing not to say it before a college meeting is not like saying you have no allegiance to the your country. I don't wake up every morning and remind America that I love it.
  6. Yo Ramius, I have only seen him in the ND game and parts of two others. Besides ND, he didn't look all that great and his numbers seem good, but not mind boggling. Like for instance, is he much better than Samardzija? Is it their QB? (wasn't very impressed and have heard bad things).
  7. That's how Tyrone Willingham was removed. Alumni bought out the millions remaining on his contract...or so it was rumored.
  8. I'm choking back the vomit building in the back of my throat, but I have to say Go Michigan! I feel sick...
  9. How are those two things possibly related? But if they want to....go for it.
  10. I'm not a fan of rematches either, but I think it's different if it is a rematch from September vs. a rematch from a month before the Bowls start. Depending on the score and quality of the game, if Ohio State loses at home on Saturday and a week later ND beats USC on the road, I think the argument could be made that we are playing better football *right now* and therefore deserve to be in the title game more than OSU. And as much as I dislike it, College Football picks it's champions on the "what have you done lately" scale. Everyone loves to point out Notre Dame's inconsistencies, but Ohio State has not exactly cruised their way through everyone. The Penn State win was unconvincing (a team we beat 41-17) and the scare two weeks ago was ugly. Now almost all championship teams have these types of games, so I'm not trying to say that Ohio St. is undeserving. Just that they haven't strung together 11 straight dominations. If they take care of Michigan, then there is no doubt they are the cream of the crop. If Rutgers wins out, then I still think they shouldn't be in the game. But I think it will be very hypocritical for the BCS not to put them in. It was a given that if WVU (and even Louisville) went undefeated, they would have a good a shot as anyone to play in the Fiesta Bowl. So why does that change if a different Big East team goes undefeated? It shouldn't. But like I said, I don't think they should necessarily go just for the reason that I didn't think WVU should necessarily go. But I wouldn't cry about it if they made it.
  11. Jeff Bowden has resigned today and will stay with the team until the end of the season. Jeff Done...
  12. Well I guess they haven't played all of them yet then have they? Well seeing how you think that only the #1 and #2 teams in the nation could possibly beat Rutgers, I'd say that is a pretty strong endorsement. Nice how you say ND plays nobody but then completely ignore the SOS.
  13. Eli FCKING Manning. 4 points! FOUR!!! And although I shouldn't be surprised anymore, Edge. He just can't do it in AZ. I need Steve Smith to get me 22 tonight for the win...he already has 16. C'mon Stevie!!
  14. Jesus, Brandon...you are losing it. 1. ND hasn't played every service academy yet. 2. What's this I see: Keep telling yourself that Rutgers is this best team in the country...but don't forget to pick Cinncinati this weekend. What's sad is Rutgers is actually a very good football team with a great future ahead of them. You just can't see that they need to earn their respect with more than a one big win.
  15. I'm sorry, they proved that the only two teams in all of college football capable of beating them are Michigan and Ohio St.? When did they do that? They proved that they are *probably* the best team in the Big East. But that doesn't change the fact that you talk so much sht about them, but then still predict them to lose on gameday.
  16. Not this again. Funny how you made that same statment before the UL game, but then predicted Rutgers would lose. Now you are a little puffed up again, so you throw it out there one more time. Your opinions would mean a little more if you didn't talk sht from Sunday-Friday, but then back down on game day just to cover your ass.
  17. It seems there is already a thread for the other BCS...so I'll just go straight to the real rankings. Bart's College Standings 1. OSU (--) 2. Michigan (--) 3. Florida (+1) 4. ND (+2) 5. USC (+2) 6. Arkansas (+5) 7. Rutgers (NR) 8. LSU (+4) 9. Wisconsin (+4) 10. WVU Honorable mention (in order): Texas, UL, Boise St. - I've tried very hard to grade ND out evenly this year, and I have not been disapointed about their rankings too much because of their inconsistency. However, this week has me a little confused. Any poll that puts us behind Arkansas and USC doesn't sit well with me. Anyway, it is what it is, hopefully Florida will drop one in the SEC title game. - Rutgers: I give them respect, but not top 5 respect. I think they are an excellent team, but I would like to see them win another big game after that emotional ride vs. Louisville. UL had a similar win at WVU, but couldn't keep it going. Now that Rutgers is back down from Cloud 9, they need to show that their big win wasn't an adrenaline filled abberation (which I don't think it was). If they beat WVU convincingly, it would be hard to keep them out of the title game, IMO. - UF: They really don't impress me that much anymore. Too many mistakes. But in this year of lackluster dominant teams, they are the best of the rest for now. - UL: They are still a very good team. Ran into a buzzsaw in NJ, but that doesn't change the fact that they are a dominant offense. BCS? Probably not, but top 15, no doubt. - Glad I was finally able to get rid of Auburn. They suck. - Another sweet performance by LSU...I think they just might be the best team in the SEC. Take away that terrible overturned PI call v. Auburn and they are probably ranked #5 right now. I think they would take UF in a rematch, especially on a neutral field. - Boise St....any team that wins their first 10 games is impressive.
  18. Clausen is the heir apparent as far as I know. He is supposed to be a once-in-a-decade QB talent (although that is disputed). We recruited two QBs last year that were in the top 20 range and I assume they thought they would be fighting for the job. Now, I assume that one (or both) of them will transfer because Jimmy Clausen is not the kind of guy to take a red shirt.
  19. Wow, in a very strange, indirect and accidental way, you just said you that life starts at birth, not conception. To answer your question, you are starting your count a little too late...
  20. Nice. Maybe they could make a quick stop at the Bills locker room every Sunday at 12:45.
  21. I kind of wanted the Bills to take a flyer on Mo Stovall from ND last year...but seeing how he has played in exactly one game for the Bucs this year, has no catches and his only significant action was catching a TD that was called back for offensive PI on him...um
