  1. Two way street. ND doesn't hold a gun to NBC's head and demand a contract. If people stop watching them, NBC will not renew. It has nothing to do with ND' opinion of itself. Some people just can't seem to grip this concept. You Penn State folk sure are a whiny bunch...
  2. "In May of 2006 he was arrested on battery charges in what authorities said was an attack on his girlfriend and their infant son. Four months later he was suspended by the team for two games for still-undisclosed personal reasons that were apparently unrelated to the arrest." I have read a few articles talking about the arrest and also some notes about him being a bit uncoachable. Again, not my words or opinion. If he really beat up his girl and kid, then that's not something that should be tolerated.
  3. First, this is not a post to blast the pick. I'm thrilled with his talent and will give him the benefit of the doubt. It will be great to have a tall, athletic, talented WR for the first time since......ummmm? That being said, if Levy still has the final word, is Hardy still the pick? Are the attitude/off-field problems enough to scare him away or is this an Eric Moulds "not big enough of a red flag" situation? Just curious what you all thought about the situation. A lot of you have studied the profiles of these prospects far more extensively than I.
  4. C'mon Mort, what do you got to say about us? Stop sulking and trash us already!
  5. ...your 10 year reign as title holder of "Most Obnoxiously Ugly Tie/Shirt Combination" has come to an end my friend. WHAT is Keyshawn wearing??? I thought last year when he was cut from the Panthers a few days after talking about how much he was looking forward to the season would forever go down as his most embarrassing draft memory. Yet he has managed to top it. Someone shoot his wardrobe manager.
  6. I usually do exactly that with "saran-wrapped" meat. I described it as "factory-sealed" because it came in it's own package with thick plastic lining glued to a styrofoam box. It wasn't the standard thin saran wrap that comes on most. It almost looked vacuum packed. However, when I took it out of the freezer, there was definitely some air inside the packaging. Strange....
  7. I don't know...i think it was a reasonable gamble that hasn't exactly turned out badly. Pretty fair price for the trade and not an exorbitant salary for a young productive RB who was believed to have struggled due to our lack of offensive balance. Unfortunately, with McNair aging like the Nazi in Indiana Jones and Boller not really making much progress, the situation remained exactly the same for Baltimore in '07 as it was for Buffalo in '05-'06. McGahee effectively traveled 400 miles south to face 8-9 man fronts all over again.
  8. UPDATE: The steak just finished defrosting so I took it out of its packaging and gave it a quick smell test. I think "week old roadkill" was the description that came to mind. Funny, it didn't smell in the freezer at all. It was also still factory sealed....weird. Maybe the fact that it was Buffalo meat or that it was "all natural?" Oh well, back to the store.
  9. While that could very well be a reach, I'd match Newsome's track record with just about every other GM in the league over the past 10 years. He's had his share of misses, but he'd be a close 2nd to build my team after Polian.
  10. I always check in on ESPN.com, but others here might have better suggestions.
  11. Reminds me, I gotta take my fckin protein!
  12. Thanks, Pete! Yeah I'm trying out a recipe for a Jerk Rub so I'll just put it on a little heavier than I would have.
  13. JD, Jager, Crown....used to LOVE Goldschlager until Senior year of HS.
  14. I found a Buffalo meat flank steak in the back of my freezer that I bought last August and forgot about. It's just a small 8 oz steak. I remember now that I had it in the fridge up until it's "BEST BY" date, and when I didn't eat it, I stuck it in the freezer. So it's been almost 9 months and it has remained frozen for the entirety. However, it had a decent amount of freezer burn and its looks a little discolored (possibly from the freezer burn). Anyway, I'm defrosting it and I was planning on grilling it up today during the draft, but I've never frozen meat that long. Will it likely still be good? Will the taste suffer due to the freezer burn? If I really want one, should I just sac up and spend a few more bucks at the grocery store and toss this icicle? THANKS!
  15. I thought they kept the clock where it was (meaning no extra time for new team). The team trading up usually picks pretty quickly anyway though since they were likely targeting one specific player.
  16. I feel like I'm waiting on a 4pm game. Something about the draft starting at high noon just feels right. Waiting until the mid-afternoon makes it feel like I'm tuning into a golf tournament. Bring back the 12pm start!
  17. They can trade whenever they want. However, if they don't trade down BEFORE the draft starts, it is unlikely that they will do so until they are on the clock. A). No one wants to trade up unless they are trading into a current selection because it tips their hand and still leaves them open to being leapfrogged. B). No one wants to trade down before they are on the clock because they don't know who will be available for their pick. So if you don't hear something before 3:00 pm, it's likely you won't hear anything again about the Bills until they are on the clock probably between 4:30-4:45ish.
  18. Just drive this beast from work to the bar.
  19. Hilarious! "I know a bunch of sluts in the NYC area."
  20. Hmmmm....watch film, work extensively for only a quarter of the year, make great money, buy hair gel and enjoy untouchable job security.... or work for an NFL team, watch more film, work harder ALL the time, make less money, lose beautiful hair from stress and get fired within 3 years.... Toughie....
  21. It pains me to defend Fasano, but how can anyone say he isn't worth the gamble of a 2nd day draft pick? He was buried behind maybe the best TE in football for two seasons, who happened to play in all 32 games over that span (starting 31). Now one of the best football minds of all-time (who has intimate knowledge of his skills) is parting with a mid-round pick for him AND another player. No doubt the deal could end up sucking for Miami, but I'd throw my money on Parcells vs. the "he's just a backup" crowd.
  22. I normally try to root for ND-alums as best I can when they get in the league (it would have been painful if Quinn had been picked up by the Phins last year), but I make an exception for Fasano. In my limited dealings with him at ND, dude was a complete tool. It's a funny coincidence that he got traded today because tonight at the Sixers game I saw someone who looked like him and I spent the next few minutes thinking about what a douche he was. No huge reason to hate him, just general personality and attitude traits. So if you need a new Dolphin to hate extra once Jason "Twinkle Toes" Taylor inevitable gets shipped off, I humbly suggest Fasano. That is all. Goodnight.
