  1. I hate speaking badly of ND boys, but Fasano is a douche...through and through. He is the epitome of a spoiled, d-bag athlete. Every encounter I've ever had with him has been negative and sickening. He is arrogant, rude and a POS and if I was 6'3" 240, I would have cracked himself on more than one occasion. His comments are not surprising. But unlike McGahee who really didn't understand the repercussions of his parting shots to Buffalo, no doubt AF thought this was hilarious. I can't think of a better team for him to be on than Miami.
  2. ESPN reports that he is going to skip his senior year and accept his offered study in Oxford. He wants to be a neurosurgeon and improve vaccination procedures in impoverished nations. This is the type of story ESPN should keep in on the front page all year long. Good for him
  3. "In the story, Weis screamed at a referee for a "bull----" call and yelled at one of his coaches to get the "[expletive]" off the field." Oh the horror! What an @sshole! Weis may come off as arrogant and he may not be the answer at ND, but throwing these bits of trash into a story are just goofy.
  4. Man you've fell off the face of the earth round here. Congrats on yet another slaughter courtesy of Carroll and Co. ND is obviously not where I thought they would be at this point in the year. It's a shame USC played like bitches in the first half vs. Oregon St. because I'd love to see what they could do against Bama or OU/UT. And I say that while gritting my teeth as my genetic hatred for Southern Cal burns my blood. Congrats son...and where the fck you been the last year??
  5. Agreed. Weis is starting to look like Ron Zook Version 2.0. The guy has brought in talent on par with the Holtz years, but his game management is terrible. I'm ambivalent to whether he should stay on as coach, because I'd hate to go back to the years where not only was coaching average, but the talent was worse. This season has actually been more disappointing that last...if that's even possible. I still think that the UNC game shook them. They were riding high then and I think if they don't blow that game, that they gut out Pitt and Cuse. Then we'd be looking a very different season. Either way, something ain't right in the kitchen. Next year will tell the story.
  6. OK, I'll bite...why did you address this to yourself, John?
  7. If I recall (not looking it up here)....95 yarder to Quinn Early? Maybe a different WR...I just remember Todd heaving it from his endzone, the WR catching it near midfield and the defender(s) falling down. The absolute peak of the Clod Era.
  8. I figured that's what it meant, I just wondered if it had some sort of qualifier for "catchable" balls. I checked FO, and it appears not. And I agree about Reed. He makes everything a little better. I had ridiculously high hopes for him after watching him at LSU, but despite all that, he has settled into a very positive career with the Bills. I will always want him on my team.
  9. Awesome! Wait, I have no idea what that means. Is that the percentage of catchable passes thrown his way that were successfully caught? Is it catches vs. drops?
  10. Nice use of "pants down," "stiff" and "butt." 2 points.
  11. Horford is a stud...the only one of those UF repeaters that has legit star potential. Noah can flap his arms around and yell all he wants, but I can't see him ever becoming more than a useful role player. Regarding his play tonight, I'm not going to give KG all the credit for that one. Obviously he is a defensive god, but Horford's ineffectiveness tonight was due to foul trouble, plain and simple. Dude picked up 2 quick ones before the 1st quarter was even half over. He sat out the rest of the half. Then he comes in after half time and immediately picks up #3 and then #4 before the quarter is done. Out he goes again. So how does he start the 4th quarter? Immediately fouling Pierce for #5. Back to the bench. I mean, the guy played less than half the game. He did the same thing against Toronto last week. He has to learn to control his fouls. He is a house and a very physical player. Atlanta needs him on the court. The most impressive thing about Atlanta (IMO) is that they've won without Josh Smith for half the games, and when he did play, he wasn't too hot. I guess they don't miss their Greek God, Josh Childress either. Good to see them playing solid ball. Crazy what a difference a smart, experienced PG makes, huh. Philly finally won a game worth a sht. Growing pains with Brand have been worse than expected. But they will get on the right track soon enough. Biggest surprise right now is quality play from Speights. I figured he was a year away from contributing. Now if Igodala could attempt to earn half the money we gave him, things will be just fine (although the near trip-double was a good start ). Other newsworthy items: - Lakers handled NO - Jeff Green gets 25 and 10 for OK - WILSON CHANDLER gets 27 and 7 for the Knicks?? - SA loses to MIL...god I feel bad for Duncan. Ime Udoka, Roger Mason and George Hill? Wow. - Utah looks great beating Philly last night and then turns around and loses to Washington? Hmmm.. - Oden played again and managed not to get hurt (Hooray!) - Dwight Howard gets 1st career trip-dub with 30-19-10....TEN blocks!! What an animal.
  12. Tom, that was an excellent, easy to understand analogy. That was a very impressive post in many ways. Actually, it reminded me of a PowerPoint slide show a friend emailed me last winter about the sub-prime mortgage lending fiasco. It's funny to look back on it now and see where that path took us. Nevertheless, it is the best explanation of that whole mess I've ever seen put into a funny, layman's terms cartoon. We need slide shows like this for all future financial meltdowns: Sub-Primers
  13. I do like the contrast in thread titles. In one corner we have Mike's pleasantly ambiguous "Amorous Couple at Texas-UTEP Game in El Paso" and in the other corner, Doc's to-the-point "Guy gets a HJ on ESPN."
  14. I've read the first real trailer will be put out with Quantum of Solace (which I think opens Friday). I'd be curious to see how it looks.
  15. I know very little about this compared to you experts, but the sections of your post I quoted were the subject of a conversation I had with my father a few weeks back. We were both commenting on how quickly all this seemingly happened (visibly at least) and how people seemed so unprepared. I suggested that the housing market collapse (and eventual mortgage disaster) was, as you said, the first sign of many things to come, but it was just such a significant event in peoples' minds, that it was hard to see it as a smaller part of yet an even bigger problem. It was like a tornado before a hurricane. People couldn't take their eyes off it long enough to see that there was something bigger waiting in the wings, and more importantly, why. We pondered what the next domino to fall might be...I didn't consider US Treasury securities.
  16. I was more of a Star Wars fan than Star Trek, but I'm pretty excited for this one. My favorite Star Trek movie was the Borg one where they were sent back in time (Picard crew). I loved how they melded the way, way, way far future with the near future as a way to bridge the gap between the impossible fantasy of Star Trek and the reality of space exploration. The trailer of the Enterprise being built and the 1950s-60s sound bites made the same exciting connection for me. I wish it was coming out Christmas like originally planned.
  17. Good stuff! I give this thread a ﷓
  18. Sucks about Gore, bro. He did contribute to a great FF moment for me though. My league gives out $20 weekly to the high scoring team. I started the night 19 behind the current leader. He had Gore, I had Boldin. Gore had an even 100 yds going into that last drive and I was 1 point behind the leader. I knew I was fcked. But then by the grace of God (aka Gerald Hayes' right index finger), Gore loses 1 yard on that last play knocking him down to 99. We ended up tying and we split the weekly prize. I know $10...whatever....it was a sweet $10.
  19. I hate to put trust in Eli again, but I can't see much fault with the Giants so far. If they can take care of the Eagles in Philly on prime time, I'll be pretty confident. AFC is weird...I have to believe the Titans will lose a few and maybe one of these comes in the playoffs. Every East team has issues, the Steelers look legit but I agree that their OL will get them into trouble. West is soft. Indy doesn't seem to have it and Jax has been a huge let down. Titans or Steelers as of now. I could see it just being a matter of homefield advantage and staying healthy. That might be enough to win the conference. Giants vs. Steelers...Giants repeat. Note: Fez's suggestion is far better though.
  20. If I was Russ Brandon, this is what my To-Do List for 11/8/08 would look like: 1. Call Rusty Jones 2. Apologize 3. Double his salary 4. Have Ralph's jet pick him up and take him to a limo which takes him to his paid-for, fully furnished condo in Orchard Park. 5. Make mental note to slap Mike Mularkey next time I saw him I kid, but who knows why this is happening? You can chalk it up to coincidence and bad luck for only so long...
  21. I vote that webpage Top 10 most irritating sites. I don't know whatever script was running on it, but Firefox sure as hell didn't like it. My computer got locked up something fierce.
  22. Justin's my boy, so this pisses me off even more, but I'm really glad he is appealing this fine...and it better get overturned. If this is the direction the league is going, I weep for future generations watching football who will never understand what the NFL was like before the "Two-Hand touch on the QB rule" or the "7-Mississippi before you rush rule" that we are inevitably headed towards. Wilfork gets $12,500 for what he ADMITTED was a cheap shot to JP's knee, and this bullsht is worth $7,500??? For those who didn't see it
