You guys are just ridiculous - Pitt is not that go
bartshan-83 replied to daquixers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're crazy. The Eagles aren't that good? 4 losses in the AFC?? Give me a break. The Patriots are not that good?? 10-1...spank everyone except PITT!! Who the hell IS good then? And I mean besides your hard-on for Peyton and the Colts. Are they the only really good team in the NFL?? If the Steelers, Eagles and Pats aren't that good (3 best records in the league) then the rest of the teams in the NFL blow a huge dick. -
Jets Confidential Article on the Bills

That article may have been the WORST analysis of anything on ANY subject I have ever read in my life. -

I don't mean to make this a dominant issue, I know this is a Bills Board but it seems that there are a number of ND fans so I thought they might like some "inside" info. Two of my best friends and former roommates here are on the team (Darin Mitchell and Justin Tuck) and I talked to them about the situation. Darin doesn't really care one way or another...Justin is real pissed, but anyway: -the overall consensus was that Ty was not going to be successful. A lot of the guys liked him and a lot are real pissed at the way it happened. But few agree that a 4th year would have mattered. -the players are however almost all pissed at the timing and how it happened. Justin has another year of eligibility but he signed his papers declaring his intentions to go to the draft this morning. Most of these seniors are upset because they went through it as freshmen (our freshman year was when the O'Leary mess happened). -there is a lot of disagreement about whether or not they will go to the Insight bowl. They stand to make some good $$$ but it seems the players are torn. They voted on it 20 minutes ago, I am waiting to hear the results. I would lean towards yes. -Some don't think that Urban Meyer will be the next coach because they believe his good friend Bob Davie will discourage him. Don't know how true that will turn out to be. Thats all for now.....

There are some I know here on the team that no way in hell got a 1000 on the SAT. But then again there are some seriously smart football players. A guy a few years ago was a TA and tutor for Organic Chemsitry. I think in general the football players here are on a different academic level, but there are still a few that slip through. Unfortunately we let guys like Jerome Collins slip through instead of All-Americans

WOW Finally a collection of every stat people having been talking about for 2 years here. This, people, is why Tyrone is gone. He was a great guy and a good coach, but he will never be a great coach or take ND to the next level, IMO. bring on Urban

I bet Antuan Edwards is looking forward

was he on the rams when we played them? If I was him I would keep switching teams to avoid Willis. -

NFL.com power rankings got it right
bartshan-83 replied to daquixers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually they did ask him that question (and Chris Carter) on Inside the NFL this season. The question was Hall of Fame career vs. One ring. Both said Hall of Fame career and I totally agree. There are a lot of players in the NFL with superbowl rings (Rob Johnson for example). And there are a lot of players who did directly help their team win ONE superbowl. Do you think Dan would change places with Doug Johnson or Kurt Warner? Didn't think so. But about Manning...I do agree. He accounts for so much money on the Colts salary. They will never be able to build a good defense. But he may win one, he's still got a lot of football left in him. But until he does, he does not belong amongst the greats. -
Willis is the talk of the NFL now

I was at that game. Last regular season Bills game I have been able to attend. It sure was exciting. Newman was flying all over the field....what a sweet win. -

Tyrone Willingham will not be retained

You can also say that Meyer then did a lot with players that a previous coach could not do. Bowling Green 2000: 2-9 Meyer: Bowling Green 2001: 8-3 2002: 9-3 Utah 3 years before Meyer: 4-7, 8-4, 5-6 With Meyer: 10-2, 11-0 IF the problem at ND is talent (which some suggest) then perhaps Meyer can do something with it. Either way...there are plenty of options. I would love to see Urban here though -
Bills tied for third most difficult
bartshan-83 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well 2 of our opponents are a combined 30-3 so that does help. It such a shame though that was lost the easy games this year. We would be looking so good at 7-4 and now just hitting stride. oh well...im jacked for the phins game -

Re Davie: Yes and no. He did get 5 years, but he was in the middle of his contract and was fired. He got a 5 year extension during his original contract and then was fired in the middle of that. So in essence, yes, he did get to coach out the length of his original contract. BUT he was fired while he still was under contract. -

Press Conference right now. Stoops laughed at us 3 years ago and he straight up rejected his former team, the Gators, not one month ago. He's definitely not a possibility. They will get Meyer. People have been talking about him around here since we lost to BYU. -
Is Jerry Sullivan on vacation?

Darin you didnt save any of those replies by any chance did you? Honestly I'd love to see what level his bullsh*t reaches when he is actually being attacked... -

Its not the first time. Davie was fired mid-contract as well. I think they would have let Ty have a fourth year if they didn't KNOW that they could grab a good coach now. After the last coach hiring debacle, I dont think they are going to mess around this time. And hey I loved Ty. I defended him against roommates and friends here for 3 years. But this is the hardest job in football and he couldn't do it. He was dreadfully inconsistent, we lost 3 in a row to BC (twice at home), we have suffered some of the worst defeats in school history on his watch and we have lost by at least 21 points EIGHT times in his three years here. I would have been willing to give him a 4th year but when you get a chance to land someone like Urban Meyer or Butch Davis, I think you take it. -

It means they will fire him after the bowl game. This will be only the second time ND has fired a coach mid-contract. The first was Bob Davie. Not a great string of coaches we have goin here after Lou...kinda like Buffalo QBs after Kelly. -

Loved the guy too....but he will NEVER take ND to the next level. Scrap the whole f*ckin staff IMO Butch Davis or Urban Meyer maybe...my $$ is on Meyer. Usher in the next dominant era of ND football....return to glory. -
wouldn't mind seeing him in the bend...

I've always wondered how/why some people come up with the "posting names" that they do. I mean there are some obvious examples like mine "Bart at ND" (which I will probably have to change next year to something like "Bart living with Parents" or "Bart with no job") but some are truly weird/interesting. Let's hear it!

As much as I hate Troy Vincent nursing himself back to health (as he did here in Philly), I really think that may have been a blessing in disguise (provided it doesn't end up being the factor that costs us the season). Throwing McGee to the wolves FORCED him to learn on the fly and face very good WRs. I know that he will be better for it.

I only saw Highlights, but Willis is the REAL DEAL
bartshan-83 replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eh...don't feel bad. Its not like they were the 2 most enjoyable/convincing wins of the season. But yes, totally agree. Willis looks sweet. He is so patient and even when he is in the open field he just glides and sheds tacklers. -
