  1. First of all, it goes without saying how impressive this is. It seemed like just yesterday that we couldn't sack the quarterback if we gave our defense guns and blindfolded the opposition's o-line. Having said that, I find that the most interesting part of this statistic is the way it has been accomplished. 38 SACKS -by 15 different players -3 LBs (6.5) -3 DEs (13.5) -3 DTs (8.5) -6 DBs (9.5) -No one with more than 7 (Schobel) -Only 4 with 4+ Now Indy (#2) has 41 sacks with 23.5 of those coming from 2 players. The Eagles (#1) is almost a carbon copy of our type of production. I tend to think that I prefer our method because I believe it a testament more to the system than the players. We have been getting sacks from backups (Wire & Greer) and even among our gamers, the distribution is more spread out. I think that if 2 players made up for over 50% of our sacks, I would feel very uncomfortable losing one of them. I feel that in our defense, it is more possible to plug players in and get good results. It puts the emphasis more on the team rather than the individual. Thoughts?
  2. hmmm? (disclaimer...perhaps what you did falls more under the scope of 'extreme generaliztion', but I think you can see the point.)
  3. I think the situation sucks for the Chargers. It may seem like a "good" problem to have, but it is such a risky situation. The Bolts still have the Ryan Leaf stigma and for the first time in years, they have a upper-echelon QB who is leading them to the playoffs. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to trade Rivers due to his cap #. BUT if they trade Brees, they risk giving away their one decent QB of the last decade and looking like total jackasses IF Rivers flops. It's gotta be a nail biter either way. I would lean towards trading Brees because: a) It is more plausible $$$ wise b) I am of the opinion that Rivers will be a GREAT NFL Quarterback. c) Brees could be a one-hit wonder. I still think it is not as an attractive situation as it seems.
  4. Very nicely put Steve. Could not have said it better.
  5. OK, now I'm a little confused. Are we agreeing with each other or arguing?
  6. I don't contest that right whatsoever. People can think whatever they want. It is disapointing to me though when it appears that, like you said, they are basing their opinions on general stereotypes.
  7. yaaaaaawn. The amount of ignorance/stereotyping here is overwhelming. It's a good thing there are such experts present to define what IS and IS NOT music. Maybe these people can expand their talent into other realms of distinction. Such as what IS and IS NOT a sport, for example. Then you all could compile a list for the rest of us to print out and study. I mean, I just found out that I have been listening to fake music, I would certainly like to know what other 'not real' activities I have been participating in.
  8. Amen....never miss it till its gone.
  9. Actually, strangely enough, his fumble occurred in a year where he had no catches (2001). Quite difficult to do nothing else but fumble in an entire year. Wow.
  10. Amen! I'm not sure who is the better coach, but I want the coach who wants the challenge. IMO, Urban took the easier path. Don't need that attitude at ND.
  11. sorry didnt see the first thread about this.
  12. Jake Plummer seems to have a strange way of "making defenses show up."
  13. After watching (most of) the game tonight, I have a lot of faith in both KC and Tenn beating the hell out of Denver. Both of those games are away from Mile High and IF the Broncs get through one of them, they get Indy. Keep stayin positive.
  14. Is anybody watching them tonight? It is cloudy (surprise) here in South Bend. Anyone? How do they look?
  15. I could be a smartass and say "Yesterday" since every game is a must win for us. But I do agree with you. This is the most excited I have been about a Bills game in a long time. I am so psyched up that I will be home to watch it.
  16. I voted for the trick play pitch because it was simply the most creatively effective play I have ever seen. The TD catch by Evans may have been one of the most significant though.
  17. How is your *other* team, the Detroit Lions, doing? You know, the team on the rise
  18. Whats wrong with a nipple? Just playin...I totally agree with the ridiculousness. Its kinda like when they print !@#$ or S--t in public papers or magazines. Like the message isn't already sent.
  19. Pittsburgh and Washington, respectively.
  20. We are 9th in the league in points scored (22.8 ppg). -This is the team that went three games in a row last year without scoring a TD. We are 3rd in the league in Total Defense (268.7 ypg). -4th in rushing -t3rd passing (jump from 9th...thats what a -12 yd day will do baby!! -we have allowed ONE 100 yd rusher all year. Tied for FIRST in the NFL in SACKS!! (46) -this one blows my mind completely. Way to go Jerry Gray! -note we had 38 all last year and 31 the year before. And to top it off....Over the last 4 weeks: -We have outscored our opponents 154-65...or an average win of 39-16. -We have caused 18 Turnovers (7 fumbles, 11 picks), which amazingly almost exactly duplicates our totals from ALL OF LAST YEAR (18, 8, 10). Damn. And finally, my favorite stat of all: 7-6. The last time we were above .500 was Sunday, October 26, 2003 right before the Kansas City Chiefs redefined "national embarassment." Through all the pain and suffering of this year, it truly has been one to remember. We have watched this team grow before our very eyes. A young WR has shown flashes of brilliance and a star is being born at RB. So many great moments. If the season ended tomorrow, I'd still be grateful for every minute. This has been the most excited I have been about Bills football in a long time (and that includes the fast start last year). GO BILLS BABY!!! edit: Feel free to add your own! What stats have made you excited??
  21. Thanks Simon...it's a good thing you chimed in; I already had the noose tied and a nice shirt picked out..... B) sh-- through a tall swede??? very nice.
  22. Nice. You still at the Conn? One of my boys goes there. Tough loss to UMass. At least ND has already taken themselves out of the Big East race. I had high hopes for the team this year too with Latimore.
  23. Gregg Williams? No I don't know either, but you are damn right. It is ridiculous and the three idiots keep saying it has been a season long problem. Inexcusable.
  24. Yeah I think you are right. ESPN has him as the DC but I think Blanche actually has the title.
  25. Thanks for clearing that up for me (*^*&%^$^#
