I have a small Corey Simon story that kind of rubs me the wrong way. I worked for the Eagles as an intern after high school and I was involved in their community outreach program, the Eagles Youth Partnership. I became friends with one of the girls that worked there and I would ask her stupid stuff like what are the players like, etc. She said the only one she couldn't stand was Simon. One particular incident stood out in my mind. She said that they had a memoribilia signing day once and Simon and one other player were the ones there. It was a catered event as well. Anyway, the food didn't arrive on time and Simon asked when it was getting there. They told him that they were making calls and it would be very soon but they had to start the signings. He flat out refused to sign a thing until "his" food arrived. His quote was something like "I ain't signing a damn thing till I eat." Eh probably means nothing, but I really have never wanted him on the team since then.

Clarrett's bad day at the combine
bartshan-83 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No I think thats different. Clarett says he had been training like a madman to get ready for this workout. He probably ran the 40 hundreds of times, and I bet this was one of his worst showings. The frustration of blowing it all when it was finally time to shine had to weigh on him heavily. No excuse for quitting but I can understand his thought process. I think Randy just gets bored. He thinks (like many extremely talented players) that he is above it all and if he doesn't want to give a sh--, then he doesn't. I think that is a worse type of quitting. -
Clarrett's bad day at the combine
bartshan-83 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he meant quitter because he just up and left the combine after his bad 40 time. The scouts told him to stay but he just hung his head and...well....quit. I do think that he has serious running ability and I would not mind taking him in the 6th or 7th round. Those picks are all longshots anyway. Why not make our longshot one with incredible potential? -
Ron Edwards vs. Pat Williams
bartshan-83 replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only beef I would have is that I'd feel like it would be the Ted Washington case all over again. We have a top notch defense and we let a guy go that was a huge anchor for us. I hate messing with success. But you are right, 5 mill per year is steep I think. Also I don't like the idea of having 2 DTs that are more pass rush oriented. I think its best to have a run stuffer and a pass rusher. There is no way Pat wieghs 317 regardless of what any roster sheet says. The man is pushing 350+ and he is just a hoss in the middle. However, we did just use are relatively high pick on a DT who barely sniffed the field last year. So maybe we can afford to lose him and use the money in other places where it would have not been available otherwise. -
I think drinking games and gettin crazy and every bit as essential to the college experience as crackin the books. As long as you take care or your sh--... All work and no play make..... at least in my opinion. I second the congrats though.

Stoj, somehow I am glad you were the one to answer my question. I agree that house rules take precendent. Which is why we decided to leave. But if it had been at my place, sh-- would have been different. I hope to play you or some of your boys in a game at a tailgate sometime in the future. why you up at 5 anyway?

I know there are some recent grads here and some other who have played the game. I consider myself as close to the top of the beer pong game as one can be but I got into a big argument on the rules tonight. I ask of you: If your team has hit the last cup, but only one teammate hits (therefore giving the opposition a chance to throw again), if they hit both of their shots, is the game over? I strongly disagree. I believe that once your team hits the last cup, the worst you can do is to give the other team first shot in OT. If they hit once, then they force OT. IF they hit the last cup twice, then they get a bring back and they get first shot in OT. The dudes I played tonight pulled some sh(t out their asses and made both shots on the last cup and claimed they won the game after I had made last cup the turn before, I said they were full of sh--. They said it was their house and they decided the rules. We left and went to the bar. Who was right?

(OT) pizza shop beat down
bartshan-83 replied to its only real shh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously, people act as if a racial slur was uttered than a beat down is justified. What if the guy said motherf*cker or cocks*cker? Is a beat down justified now? Why is it a bigger issue if it is a black vs. white thing? Why can't people just look at is as two guys fighting or one guy being wrong (as the case may be)? Why must race be brought up? Is this any different than if a huge white guy beat up the same dude? NO! It is the same. The people around him should have at least said something. I don't know how eager I would have been to jump in and take my beating but I swear I would have at least tried to make some peace. Fights are fights. Don't try to make them into more than they are. -
Unfortunately it was not a bad dream. It sucks. But your stories make me feel better like its gonna be an easy thing. The earliest I can see a dentist is monday so Im gonna have to deal with it till then. It was a good night though. 4 people.....58 beers. 14 games of pong.

Ive never been a drunka@ss to this point before. HELP! me please ~Young and Stupid at ND

It really is a true shame. I wanted to see Drew get a ring really bad. But never will I root for the Cowboys to win anything. Never.

Charles Rogers' career may be over, or at least that was speculated. This could be the reason they are looking for another WR.

You think a $1 lawsuit is going to discourage GM or anyone else from then later using his image in any way they see fit? The $2 mill is to make the point that there will be a penalty for illegally using him to sell their or anyone else's product. LA hit the nail. What if a adult sex toys shop wants to start using his image to sell their product? The only possible reprisal they face is a $1 lawsuit?? Not much risk in that situation. And the main point (as many others have said) is that Brady puts TEAM ahead of MONEY. He cares more about having the best team than having the best salary.

wow. thanks d. I really wonder why Mularkey would say something like that. I mean Willis is 230 maybe and Travis is about 215. Its one thing to talk up your players but, thats a bit overboard. But to the original discussion, I guess I like Bettis because after getting beat up by Willis all day, I think having another back that actually hits harder would be really tough for the defense to take. But I just love Bettis.
-
wait was he trying to say that Henry is 240 also??? Where is that from?
-
great...thread is now about PMS. good work as usual boys...
-
maybe its from staring at Fiedlers face everytime you post?
-
I remember people talking about Bettis possibly being a backup option. Was this based all on the hat wearing thing? He was one of my all-time favorite college players growing up. Bettis and Brooks...Thunder and Lightning. I would love to see him here smashing people down and softening them up for Willis. Can you imagine a better short yardage goaline tandem than Bettis/McGahee? But I mean is he even gonna leave Pittsburgh? Is he retiring? Would he be a backup for sure?

I dont know if your kidding, but I actually thought the same thing. In one of my classes last semester, the teacher would ask us what movies we had seen each week to start class off. For like two weeks some dpsh*t would say "haha haha I saw saw ha ha ha." christ....
-
Exactly. You're not gonna jump out of your seat, but you will pray that there is no one out there like the guy in movie.

I get pretty jacked up for the World Cup games. Anytime a sport is being played at its highest level (and I understand the rules) I am pretty interested. I can't really watch unless I have a team to cheer for though. In the 2002 world cup, me and a few of my boys had a beach house for a week in DE. Since the games were at like 5am, we would just drink all night, stay for the game, get rowdy and then pass out. Come to think of it...maybe thats why I liked watching soccer.

Damn i popped in the DVD yesterday aftenoon and I was GLUED. Definitely one of the better and more disturbing horror flicks I have seen in awhile. The ideas and premises were so F*cked up I don't know how the writers thought of them. And that ending.....damn. If you haven't seen it, I'd definitely recommend.

strange strange scenario possible
bartshan-83 replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How does the $$$ work for the players in the supp draft? Would he still get paid like a top 5 pick? Would his agent just use the angle that he probably would have been #1? Anyone know how that would play out? -
Nothing worse than an "Unlce Ted"

I've never actually laughed out loud at a computer screen, but that one got me. I really don't know why it was so funny but my eyes are watering. -
Alex Bannister WR - Free agent
bartshan-83 replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember his name being verrrrrrrrrry popular around here last year. I say it is a good possibility. Let our coaches look at him. If they really are through with Reed and/or don't have confidence in Aiken to step up, then by all means give him a look. As long as they determine he is worth a deal and his injury isn't serious then I would have no problem with an extra weapon for JP. At the very minimum, he would be another excellent addition to the best Special Teams unit in the NFL.
