  1. You know, as much as I love these "recaps", it seems they are getting more and more fairytale-ish. I watched one a few weeks ago on the AZ cardinals and you would have sworn that they were Super Bowl bound. I like that they show all the highlights, but I would prefer if they recapped ALL the games, not just the wins. I think it would truly re-create the euphoria we all felt during the second half of the season after seeing how truly bad the first half was. just my 2 cents. But man those highlights are killer!!
  2. Jefferson!! I thought Patten was wrong but I couldn't think of the name.
  3. It was the game at Foxboro where the refs bent us over in stunning fashion. 1.) The Pats had the ball driving for the go-ahead TD in the last minute of the 4th quarter. They called David Patten's reception on 4th and 11 a legal catch even though neither of his feet landed in bounds (some say one did, but my memory stands with zero). 2.) Not only was he NOT in bounds, he was not across the 1st down marker. Still he was awarded with a catch and a 1st down. 3.) Later in the drive with the last few seconds ticking down, Bledsoe (pats) heaves a hailmary to the left-front corner of the endzone. Terry Glenn biffs the catch and the refs call Henry Jones (I believe) for PI. Not only was there mutal contact, Thomas Smith was practically being held in a full-nelson right near the play by another Pats WR. Regardless, PI was called and the Pats got a 1st and goal from the 1. They went on to score on a loft pass to the TE (Marlo Perry covering I believe) and the Wade was so pissed, he would not even let the team take the field for the XP. So the pats got a 2pt conversion. The significance of the loss was that it gave Miami a tie-breaker on us and forced us to play our first round game at Pro Player stadium where it was about 600 degrees. We lose by a TD in one of the next most significant screw jobs the refs have given us.
  4. I think he should get paid. This is not a TO "I'm in the 2nd year of a 6 year contract" situation. He has one year left and he is making 1.66 mill. The Steelers say they won't negotiate with him if he is not in camp, but I wonder if they will crack. I'm sure they can imagine how much less effective that running game will be when defenses only have to worry about Randel-El in the passing game. Ward
  5. A-f'n-MEN! Of course if it was Rosenblouse, then NC would have renegotiated his rookie contract a few years ago. I'm waiting for the day this POS signs a rookie to a sweet deal, and then after two weeks of productive training camp practices, he tells him to hold out until the team re-negotiates.
  6. Why? Are you gonna circle that date on your calendar? You sound as if you are eagerly anticipating the day you can say "I told you so." If you are already complaining now, I don't think any date Ramius or anyone else offers is going to stop you.
  7. Did you really buy a Holcomb jersey?
  8. What is the significance of Sports Inc.? Are they like the magazines that rate draft prospects on the franchise player to camp fodder scale? Who is the highest rated player in the league?
  9. I hope he wears it when we play them. WOW disclaimer: I apologize if the image on ESPN's frontpage changes by the time some of you read this.
  10. Christ, Darin. I kinda wanted to sleep tonight.....thank you so much for digging up that !@#$ing blackhole.
  11. I think it's strange that not many of the mid-lower rounders have signed yet. Maybe I remember things wrong, but usually I thought it was just the 1st rounders and the occaisonal difficult 2nd that didnt get done before camp. I talked to my boy Justin yesterday and he hasn't signed and he flew up to NY today and starts on the 28th. He said he's not going to camp w/o a deal (obviously) but he didn't seem very concerned. And he was just a 3rd rd. pick. I guess it will work itself out this week for the most part.
  12. Yeah, I put 2+2 together once I saw Shore wasn't going away after the first 5 minutes. I remember seeing disturbing ads for the last few months that he was actually getting his own show. But I didnt remember the title, and part of me thought it was some sick, tasteless joke. And then with the commercials not mentioning his name once during the movies, I fell for it. The one saving grace was that his mom makes him do this stupid sh-- and instead of doing it, he makes this mexican guy and big fat guy do it for him and they mess it up.
  13. I just got back from Rehoboth/Dewey this week. Parents and neighbors had a house on Carolina St., just in between the beginning of Dewey and Silver Lake. I forgot how much fun it is down there...especially being 21 Went to Dogfish Head for dinner and drinks, then over the the Rudder for some music. I do miss Bethany though.
  14. So I'm watching the Replacements last night on TBS and then afterwards, the Waterboy. During each movie, TBS keeps incessantly driving this ad for their new show, "Minding the Store" into my head. They bill it as a show about "The Comedy Store", a famous comedy club on Sunset in LA that started such careers as Jay Leno, Chris Rock and Jim Carrey. They show clips of comedians and then this goofy clip of some dumbass bartender chick who claims the only drink she knows how to make is Coke. Well, a few years ago I was in LA and I went to this place and I laughed my fuggin ass off. Definitely one of the funniest experiences of my life. So that fond memory plus the fact that I was being pounded over the head with advertisements at each commecial break prompted me to check it out. Here is where eveything starts to suck. The first person I see as the show starts is Pauly Shore. I think "OK, he is just someone who performed there too once. He will go away soon." WRONG! WRONG! Turns out, the entire !@#$ing show is about HIM!!! They never mentioned this once in the 97 previews they showed me during the two movies I watched. I'm so shocked that some network actually gave him a show that I can't stop watching. Apparantley, his mom owns the place and the show is a reality show about him trying to run it. THAT and the other side plot is that Pauly is looking for a woman to settle down with because, get this, he is tired of banging Playboy bunnies!! So not only was the show terrible (imagine a Pauly Shore movie and then imagine he isn't trying to be funny) but I get to learn that this has-been, never-was monkey has been hitting it with gorgeous 19 year olds for the past 15 years. I don't think I will be able to eat anything today.
  15. You like Smyrna? That is a first for me. I live 5 minutes from DE (up north around Newark and UD) and I think Delaware is a very underrated place. I don't consider it a suburb of anything else. It has everything. A populated city with a downtown, a small college-town, beaches, amazingly nice areas and some sh------- ones too. And it is just a few hours from NYC, DC and, if you like it, skiing. Dover is pretty nice central location, there are some bad parts of course, but there are everywhere. If it was me, I would go as far south as possible. Rehoboth is the most populated and there is definitely the most to do there (restaurants, shopping, etc.). Dewey is probably the most fun, but as a retiree, I doubt you would want to spend your hard earned vacation time putting up with a bunch of obnoxious high school and college kids (like I was/am ). Bethany may be the best choice. It is definitely the quietest and most chilled out. Plus it is basically the southernmost area of DE so you are pretty much directly between Rehoboth and OC, Maryland (about 10-15 minutes to each). I can't comment on Bama or Tenny since I've never spent much time in either. But I would endorse DE. Good luck.
  16. 1. Pats 11-5 I'd give them 12-4, but the co-ordinator issue IS a huge question mark no matter how much Pats fans want to downplay it. But besides that, this team has won 14 game in each of the last two seasons. They have talented veterans, probably the best QB in football and every year they seem to churn out productive young players that contribute immediately. Predicting more than a 3-game drop is a bit much IMO. 2. Bills 9-7 I think JP is going to be fine. Not great, not terrible....fine. He will make his mistakes, but he does have sweet weapons (EM & LE) and MM and TC will protect him by using Willis to carry the load. We do potentially have the best young RB in the league....who knows what he could now that his surgery is a year and a half in the past? We also do boast one of the best defenses and ST units in the league. To me, it would take and a serious injury and/or JP falling on his face to keep us from going under .500. 3. Jets 8-8 This is a weird one for me. Part of me says, this is a team that even with an injured Chad Penn. was a botched FG from the AFCCG last year. The other part of me says that this is a team with a question mark at QB, an aging RB who does not have a big time back to spell him anymore. I think Curtis has to slow down eventually and I just think the Jets will catch a bunch of bad breaks this year. I think they lose a lot of close games and just fall short. They may reach 9-7, but I think we will have the tie-breaker on them. 4. Dolphins 4-12 A lof of people are quick to jump on Saban's dick, but I don't see it. He was a very good college coach, period. He may turn out to be a very good pro coach too, but even if he does, I do not think this will be the year for it. This team has many, many questions and I think the whole Ricky fiasco may end up being a distraction. And A.J. Feely is NOT going to lead a winning team. my two cents...
  17. Very nice analysis. Very good read. It would also be nice to know how well those group ONE guys did in their second year as opposed to the group TWO guys' first years. It wouldn't really give us any more indicators of JPs potential success, but it would help shed light on the debate of starting QBs in the first year vs. giving them a year to learn. Great post.
  18. Do you hate Andre Reed too?
  19. Good luck Travis. You weren't the perfect RB, but you busted your ass every snap. It's a shame too that you were a Bills fan growing up (a FLORIDA Bills fan at that) and it had to end this way. And I second everything C.Biscuit97 said. I know I've said it before but people wonder why there is little loyalty among athletes for their teams/cities. Why should anyone be loyal when your fanbase is willing to turn on you at the drop of the hat and cut into with such childish venom that it seems you are their worst enemy. Peace TH....good luck at Tenn.
  20. First, let me say that I am happy that TD got his 3rd rounder for Travis. I think that given what is available out there right now, he got about as good a deal as he was gonna get. I like Travis and I wish him luck. My main point though is with the market and value for RBs this year. While I am happy that we got a 3rd, for the reasons I stated above, I still feel that he was worth more than that. Yes, he has his faults, but he is/was a probowl type player and a very productive rusher. I really think that it was this Edge/Alexander situation that screwed us. I remember a time where Lamar Gordon could fetch and 3rd round pick and Darrick Holmes could even fetch a 4th. Hell Ricky Williams got multiple 1sts......TWICE!! So my question is, what do you think about this current market for RBs? Do you think that top tier RBs will never again fetch 1st rounders or even....gasp....multiple 1sts? I mean Doug Jolley got a 1st rounder this year, but two of the best RBs in football can't even get a 2nd round pick. Is this the way its gonna be or was this just a weird year? peace
  21. i wish you weren't a liar....
  22. 96 Ford Ranger....X-Cab....no A/C miss my baby though ....85 BMW 528e....finally kicked it with a cracked head gasket last summer at 225k. Still sittin in the driveway, collecting wasps.
  23. The one on the right is a man??? He should get an extra year of probation for looking like that.
  24. I'm not a parent (yet) so I can't speak on this with as much authority as some, but that is basically how my parents treated me and I believe it was the right thing to do. As long as my friends' parents knew that we were drinking and by no means were we going to leave the house, then they would give it the OK. I know it kept me out of trouble a few times for sure. It's like you said, John, you'd rather have your kids doing it at your house where you can at least have some control over what happens then have them do it behind your back. Every kid (well almost) is going to drink and do other 'stupid' things behind their parents' backs; it's part of growing up. The more you can monitor these actions and not create an environment that drives your kids away, the better off everyone will be, IMO.
