  1. Nice to see the convicts fall so early in the season. That boy Wright has a future though. And I wish Greg Olson hadn't bailed on us because his kitty ass brother wasn't man enough to fight for his job against a freshman. Disturbing comment of the night: One of the announcers made a comment about one of the FSU players who apparently got hurt. The announcer surmised that perhaps the FSU player was "wisely" faking his injury to allow his teammates to catch their breath. Then he praised the player for his good thinking if that was the case. Since when is faking an injury to get an illegal TO to stop a rolling offense considered praiseworthy? Gotta love where our standards have fallen to....
  2. I apologize in advance because this is sort of a Notre Dame post and it probably should be on the college football board (which is great btw, more people should come check it out). But I just had to say this because I feel that Bills fans would appreciate it. Not only was last night's game amazing because of the performance, but I got to see a wonderful, familiar sight that I thought I may never really see again. I got to see Wanny's goofy-ass facial expressions as he anguished over the game. I thought when he and Miami finally parted ways (after many glorious years for WNY) that I would never really again see the joyful sight of Wanny looking like he was constipated and wanted to hang himself at the same time. For those who saw the game last night, you know what I mean. His halftime interview was priceless. Uh, uh, uh...we can't make a play! We, uh...god our defense, uh, i mean, they're just, we need a spark, uh, uh..we can't make a play. I, uh..... Then he made some great moves in the game: -On one 4th down, Pitt was about to go for it so we called a TO to regroup. Then Wanny decides to kick. -On another 4th down, right before the half, Pitt punts but we have 12 on the field so they get 5 yds and one more play (0:01 remaining). They line up for a 60 yd FG (durrrh? ) and right before they are about to kick it, Wanny calls another TO and realizes Jason Elam is not his kicker and they might as well try to throw for the endzone. It was priceless and to all of you miss Wanny and all that he brings, I'd suggest you check out a few Pitt games. It will warm your heart Thank you.
  3. Girlfriend's family is having a bbq. Going to eat some burgers, drink some beers and hang by the pool. Then my mom is making crab marinara for dinner. Great family holiday, but was always bittersweet for me (meant football was starting but so was school ) Plus ND was never off for Labor Day . Now after the Irish game last night, I miss school for the first time. Anyway...... Hope everyone here has a fun and safe holiday.
  4. Sorry to hear that bro. I just turned 22 a few weeks ago so I totally get your comment about heart issues at such a young age. I can't even fathom having serious health issues at this stage in my life. Stay positive and keep us updated.
  5. Marcus was going to be one of the top 3 PGs in the country this year. He was less than 18 months away from being a likely lottery pick and making millions of dollars. This was probably a good idea.... I'm with you, kick him off the team, take away his scholarship and expell him. Let him figure out what to do next. I'll even go one further. I think schools should have a clause in their agreements with these "student"-athletes that say if they screw up like this, the school can recoup any scholarship money they have already given them. Of course, that would go for any student on a scholarship...athlete or not.
  6. Say "excuses" again.....it's easier than reading anything I said.
  7. Not likely....seeing how this is not new this year. We schedule like this every year. I was at Notre Dame during what may very well go down as the worst 4 year stretch in our football history and I am not one for excuses. There are plenty of reasons why we lose, to me, schedule is not at the top of the list. I love our schedule, its brutal, but it's great. Maybe it would be nice if we played Michigan, USC and then padded our season with teams like SE Tennessee Community College or Georgia School for the Blind. Hell, some would probably even settle for having an easy opener like say.......La Lafayette instead of jumping into 2 consective ranked opponent away games. But I like the way it is.....because one day soon, we will win our 12th National Championship, and we will leave a trail of worthy opponents in our wake.
  8. read where I wrote anything about it being a crutch. In the other thread I predicted an 8-3 season....with one of those 8 wins coming against either Southern Cal or Tennessee. Probably crazy....but stranger things have happened. Just find the sympathy for teams in tough conferences hilarious.....
  9. I cry a river for Tennessee and their brutal schedule. Really I do. When Tennessee (or any other team in the nation for that matter) decides to schedule the #1, #3, #4, #15 and #23 teams in country in one season, then I will give them their due.... But conference schedules are sooooooooo hard. (disclaimer...not directed at you, just a general rant )
  10. @ Pitt @ Mich MSU @ Wash @ Purdue USC BYU TENN NAVY CUSE @ Stanford Brutal first half....rough home sked. I say open up with a win, lose 2 of the next 4. Go 4-1 on the homestand and finish up smashing all over Stanford 8-3....decent bowl im pumped and i miss South Bend..
  11. I heard he was using the rest of his free time jacking laptops and trying to pawn them....
  12. I wouldnt do that. There is no guarantee that KJ will even outperform Tiki alone. Plus if you get a lot of points for team D turnovers, I'd stick with the Ravens. Then add that Porter could have a big year while Randy draws the coverage, I'd say you would be getting fleeced from all angles if you accepted.
  13. congratulations bud. get on the brainwashing....can never start too early.
  14. you're setting the bar a little low, Scott.
  15. jesus...am i going crazy. I could have sworn he spelled his name Reuben. i must be getting old.
  16. wow what a fun day this has been. maybe you can invite blackbear back too....
  17. Absolutely. I'm surprised the entire offense didn't rise in revolt against GW and KG that year. And the fact that he believes the Bills blackballed him (rightly or not) and yet he STILL keeps his mouth shut, to me, speaks volumes for the kind of man he is. Aside from his guaranteed false start/hold per game, I loved Reuben Brown. I wish he could have ended his career here. It's not like we are tearing it up on the left side on the line.
  18. What always kills me about Warrick (other than the fact that he was probably the best player in college football in 2000) is his ypc average. It's like 10 yds per catch for his career. This guy was supposed to be the most electric playmaker to come out in years. Yet he was at BEST an average possession receiver. I never understood how he couldn't become at least a deep threat.
  19. Crazy story! Kinda makes you put things in perspective. Think about how crazy we can get if we find out a flight has been delayed an hour.....then compare that to the amount of effort and frustration you put yourself through just to make it out and you still considered yourself lucky (as you should!) Glad everything worked out in the end....I can't imagine trying to wait that one out.
  20. Thanks guys! I've been in Vermont on vacation for the last week and I'm trying to get through all the Bills info I missed. Bday was good, not too much like the 21st though. Must be getting old...
  21. Did anyone else have trouble reading anything on that site without reading it in his voice? It read: "Our great country is in a terrible downward spiral. We're outsourcing jobs, bankrupting social security, and losing lives at war." I read: "Ouwa...great country....is in a terrible, downwahd spiral. We're....outsourcing jobs. Bank-rupting social security, and losing lives...at wah."
