  1. This discussion is why our system of government is the best- when it is working, of course. It avoids tyranny by majority, despite the fact that some still believe that majority should rule in this country. I have stated numerous times that I do not hate any religion- religion is something that can light a fuse, but so is politics or so many other things. Something is inherently wrong with the people that have committed attrocities over the centuries. They just fall back on religion as an excuse. I find the DaVinci Code/Angel and Demons series to be very interesting. Sure, it uses Christianity, but you could substitute any religion and have the same movie. It was made in America, where Christianity is the majority, so that made sense. The people who did evil in it were trying to defend their religion from those who had different ideas- people who really didn't pose a threat to them.
  2. You draft to get better, so you can win. If you want to lose, it becomes pretty pointless, regardless of who or where you draft
  3. All of it makes little sense to me. Why can't people believe what makes them happy and just be good to each other without interfering with what anyone else believes. There would be a lot less conflict....
  4. Well, when he says end of story, I guess that means we have consensus. Those that disagree have to change their minds. Lol
  5. Didn't a guy in Pittsburgh's front office leave to join ours? Also, Gailey has an extensive background with that organization. Being able to pull away one of their top players would give us credibility- both on and off the field. He is the type of player you have to find a way to get, in order to be competetive. Get him and have a good draft and we will be on our way.....
  6. If we could open the pocketbook to get Harris and Woodley, then get Dareus and the OLB from Georgia (blanking on the name), like a mock draft had us doing, we could see a huge improvement in the defense. I saw a previous post about getting Alex Smith from San Francisco. I had my doubts about his draft position, but Nolan, Singletary and Jimmy Raye don't make it easy for a young QB to get going in the NFL. Maybe Gailey could coach him up.
  7. Wilson has paid for plenty of free agents over the year
  8. Not true at all. He shouldn't be paid like a franchise player, but he has plenty of value.
  9. Building around Fitzpatrick is accepting mediocrity. I don't care how we do short term.
  10. OLB LaMarr Woodley- could be another Bryce Paup for us on the edge WR Sydney Rice- Could start opposite Johnson and allow us to move Evans to the4 spot, where he could tear up defenses. OT Matt Light- could easily still start at either tackle spot TE Owen Daniels- could be a prolific pass catcher. RB Michael Bush- if we move Jackson, he could be the thunder to Spiller's lighting Obviously, Woodley would be the biggest addition and would help as far as pre-draft additions.
  11. I am not against taking Mallett, but he looks like a 50/50 prospect to me that likes to hang onto the ball a bit. If we are going to pass on Dareus, I hope that our scouts are pretty sure about him.
  12. I think Wade Phillips is available
  13. If Troup makes enough progress to get significant time, we can play Williams at DE for a number of snaps. That would probably help our pass rush and having both on the field for a significant amount of time would bolster our front 7 and run defense.
  14. As was previously stated, going from a 4-3 to a 3-4 is going to take time, but I think it will be worthwhile to get more athletic and have more playmakers
  15. There is absolutely a drop off in the performance of the defense, noticably in the secondary. That was expected when going from an undersized 4-3 to a 3-4, particularly with the departure of our top pass rusher. Without enough explosive big bodies up front to tie up the OLs, our secondary has been exposed. I agree that we are better off keeping Whitner and using our picks elsewhere, but we can't offer too much more than we already are, despite the fact he is clearly better than the other guys
  16. Wow. I guess you took that a bit too literally. Also, I think you are confusing me with someone else. I usually refrain from personal attacks. My one incident a few months ago was followed with an apology. I think the personal attacks on Donte Whitner both on this board and on his personal twitter page are reprehensible. Fans need to grow up and not act like raving lunatics. Wasn't it just last year that a group of thugs did something to a player's front lawn? It was a shame that the charges were dropped
  17. The teams those safeties play on don't have DreReed83 as a fan- maybe that's the difference
  18. I am fine with taking a first round QB and not having him contribute for 2-3 years. I will just listen to the impatient fans whine. Then I will mock them, while it takes them 2-3 years to think of a comeback.
  19. If Kirk Cousins comes out, I wonder if we will take a look at him. He is very accurate and has good mechanics. Doesn't turn the ball over much either.
  20. Well, first you had Tom Breshnahan's offense and there was nothing. Ted Marchibroda arrives and bang! Tons of energy. Problem is that we all know that Marchibroda was the coordinator before Breshnahan. I will have to hypothosize and hypotanuse about this.
  21. Yeah- I hope the Bills get one just like him. He can build a mall right where you park for the game, then overcharge, due to the lack of parking. If you like Kraft, move to New England.....
  22. We need plenty of defensive help and a starting caliber QB. Fitzpatrick is a backup
  23. Just remember "We can win with Fitzpatrick." Another QB heads to the scrapheap.
  24. The only incentive should be winning. Contracts based on stats don't encourage players to play within the given scheme.
