  1. All people of religion have it guide their moral compass- the problem is when their moral compass infringes on mine. Our government will continue to peddle influence until we keep them from doing that- I read a nice article about how that has given us the worst tax code in existence.
  2. No killing or stealing
  3. Laws based on religion. We don't need them
  4. And what percentage of that 99% are terrified of sharia law? LOL, I believe in fairy tales, as many do.
  5. I agree with you on the car accident thing- that is not a viable thing to compare it to. I was saying that I wasn't going to have a knee jerk reaction- I wasn't relating that statement to your post.
  6. Just saw that- not far from here. I reserve any opinion until details come out, better to not have a knee jerk reaction, particularly when there is a tragedy.
  7. What if that isn't a problem for you? Are we agreed that religion is the issue for the people who don't accept "gay marriage" at present?
  8. People who prioritize social positions over the economy aren't any more a simpleton than people who prioritize economic positions over social. People need what they need and prioritize accordingly. And by the way- need can (and does) make hipocrites out of all of us. Just check out people's positions in various threads on this board, if you don't believe that.
  9. That's not an easy question, Meazza, and I've read enough of your posts to realize that you are rational enough to know that. It wouldn't work here, except in small aspects, but it can be good for other economies. It is merely a tool- if it can be a useful tool, it should be used. In this country, it should be used with great discression, because it can do great damage, if we veer to far that way, which may explain the great fear directed towards it.
  10. What is a latte. Just give me a black coffee and move along! You are exaggerating things. I like to look at options and from different angles, but if you read my posts, you can find plenty of opinions. You just can't pigeonhole them as democrat or republican, which isn't a problem to me. I have a busy schedule this week, but I will take a look tomorrow if the opportunity presents itself.
  11. That was very succinct. It is sad that it has come to this, isn't it.
  12. I do agree with you that President Obama is the farthest left president that we have had. I don't blame socialism, communism or fascism for attrocities committed against people. The leaders are responsible for that. Those systems and capitalism can do a lot of good, but they all have their flaws, as all manmade things do. I haven't read up about the attrocities in Russia, but have heard sketchy details. I heard firsthand stories about Nazi attrocities. I tried to give you some respect because you claimed that you served. I am starting to doubt that claim, I don't know any other veterans that behave as ignorantly.
  13. They didn't vote that?
  14. I agree with you about people being fine as long as their guy is doing it. On your second point, we can't increase taxes significantly, because we are crippled by the worst tax code in the history of the planet. If we fixed it, more money would come in. And those checks and balances keep the country somewhat sane. Thankfully. I am sorry that thinking dazzles you. I know how tough the world must be for the younger generation. Hang in there- you're positions are indeed "constant"
  15. The November election
  16. So, you are saying that the system takes care of itself
  17. Yes, he usurped everything. We now have bread lines, he started the bail out programs. Political back room deals just started with him. And by the way, if anyone sits on a fence, son, it is you. You have more positions than a folk-style wrestling match.
  18. What evidence have you seen that he is socialist- and do you really think he can turn the primary focus of our economy to socialism? I don't think one branch of our government has that type of pull, nor should it.
  19. He is not trying to put everything under government- that is the insinuation. I know the political games in this country is to insinuate that the other side is something that it isn't, but it really doesn't help things. The far right (not the right, which includes the current candidate), calls everything they don't like, socialism, just like most of the history starved people of this country, relate any leaders they don't like, to Adolph Hitler. By the way- the super pac ad linking Romney to that woman's death is reprehensible, as is their denial that it was the main message of the ad. Personally, I can live with either guy as president. I just wish the election was over with already.........
  20. The cries of socialist are among the most ignorant things ever. First, President Obama is not a socialist. Second- socialism may not be suited to be the primary system in this country, but it is neither inherently good or bad. Believe me, you don't see me defend our current president, unless the criticism is ridiculous on him. He should be criticized and should the Super Pacs, for the attacks on Romney's wife and the call for his taxes. The birthers are equally ignorant. I will say this- I see a lot of patriotism in both major party candidates. Why else would anyone run for office in a country such as this........
  21. If we had a candidate who was for forward, they wouldn't have a prayer of getting elected. The wingnuts would trample them. We need to tie entitlements to how the economy is doing, we need to make military spending efficient (note, I didn't say more efficient) and spend a lot less. We need to cut the costs of health care, not just give it lip service, we need to rebuild our infrastructure. If we stopped wasting time and energy on the facade of what we want this country to be, we could use that time and energy on making that a reality. You bring up a great point on the money- its all well and good to have it, but you can only spend so much at a time effectively. If Romney wins the election, it isn't because of the money. I often hear that from guess what- both sides. And I grow tired of it...........Each side feels they completely give in to the other and get nothing back and that the other side demonizes them....blah, blah, blah. Both sides can go stick it where the sun don't shine- they are both unamerican. Yes, just like them, I can define what is American and what isn't.
  22. There is going to be mischaracterizations on both sides, morons on both sides and in the middle. That, in essence, is what American politics is about- the main job is to get elected and re-elected, not to get anything done. We are a big carnival and the carosel just keeps going round and round, from right to left and back again!
  23. I will give you this- it matters a bit. It can have a much bigger impact if it turns out bad than good (Ask John McCain about that). I don't think this will help Romney as much as the right thinks and it won't hurt him as much as the left wants to think, As far as the VP debates go, it is more important that they show competence, than win the debate. For now, I say let the republican base have their excitement with the pick.......
  24. It shouldn't. For all the talk about how "dumb" Dan Quayle was, it sure didn't keep President George H.W. Bush from doing a pretty good job. If the president and VP were equals, this would be big. It is symbolic.
  25. Ryan is not running for President. I don't see this as anything big, nor are the rumors about President Obama possibly switching from Biden to Clinton. This is going to be a very close election. Anyone who thinks one or the other will (or should) run away with it, is deluding themselves. I am looking forward to the debates, particularly, the late ones
