There are a lot of generalizations in this thread- not everybody that follows organized religion is a lemming, but there are way too many that do fit that category. Too often I have seen people follow a tradition that doensnt even hold any meaning for them, and they dont even know why they are doing things. This is habit- not religion.

In relation to this- frivolous lawsuits should be met with contempt of court charges- and MANDATORY jail time....make them pay for wasting people's time!!! MAKE THEM PAY!

Not innocent, that wasn't the verdict- just not guilty. Thats how the system works.

The media can't push just anything, but they do push the things that will give them the easiest stories. They push things that are very boring- it took me hours to deprogram somebody from thinking that homeruns are "oh-so-entertaining!" Of course they are, how could you not enjoy something that no play is to be made on. ESPN dumbs its viewers down- the guy I talked to had no idea what a double switch was....that would be too hard for the so-called journalists on E-spin to explain. They are too worried about telling us what to like- which they do all the time if you watch for it.

Maybe they'll bring up the always intelligent subject of american idol next

Face the facts- whatever they want to push becomes big- they push individual accomplishments in all sports, bombard us with tons of highlights of them, and eventually it becomes what we want to see. They have an agenda, but most people miss it. They are as bad as the rest of the media

If they don't want the NHL to be successful, they will be very critical, and not show much on sportscenter. If they want to push the NHL, then all of the people that the program so successfully will watch. ESPN basically has become much better at creating the news by controlling their viewers than they are at reporting it.

Why not make them watch American Idol....that would be inhumane.

Personally, I am for it, although I do have some reservations about it. I do understand where the people against it are coming from- if it ever is to happen, it should be by popular vote- which is not standard procedure

No, it will not solve the problem. You solve the problem through education- and make it something that people fear, and will only use as a last resort. The thing that people lose sight of is that nobody is actually pro-abortion.

I still think a larger playing surface- while expensive would open things up for the skill players, and prevent the unskilled players from bunching up to prevent scoring opportunities......open space=open game

As I said- Howard Simon is a great guy, and has a great sports mind- he also understandsd that there is no need to be controversial....leave that to the kids who never were told no. I think he's being forced into this by terrible management

I agree- I really prefered him over the cast of reality show winners and comedians that ESPN gives us- he was very good until WGR tuned into garbage.

A friend of mine told me that Kerry is leading a charge to impeach Bush....I have not heard this anywhere else, and I dont want anyone to take this as me saying its a fact. has anyone heard this anywhere? I think it would be a really bad move if it is true.

talking about things like a bigger goal in hockey is stupid- thats not the kind of game fans want. Fans want scoring, but they want it to take skill. If anyone can score, then its not exciting. Leagues should invest in their product, and work on expanding the playing field- this will compensate for the better athletes of today. Higher scores themselves are not entertaining at all, and actually could make the game less entertaining.

Are they making him act like this at WGR55? First Bulldog and Schoppe turn into pre pubescent losers, then Simon's show goes down the tube....I cant even listen to it anymore...do they hold up cue cards for him?
