  1. I see a lot of positives in both QB's. Trent is very accurate when he is on, and JP has proven to be a clutch fourth quarter QB. I could be happy with either. To bad most people here don't want to be happy about either. Just need to get adequate targets and a better defense.
  2. JP's accuracy problem is one that may haunt him the rest of his career. He needs to end up on a team with enough offensive weapons to overcome that, and a strong defense. We have neither at this point. Both may hurt Edwards this year if not remedied, bit thats ok as well, he has time.
  3. Never the player's fault, eh? Deion Sanders ran better routes. He is one of the best punt returners in the league- let him just do what he does well
  4. I actually like Reed- there always is a spot for role players. If he doesn't have to be a play maker, he is fine. Ask more than that, and he will drop the ball while looking downfield. I did not click on the link, as I don't feel I have to look at his stats to justify his ability, which he does have. Parrish is a fast little guy who was always coddled into thinking his ability was enough. He doesn't even understand that in the NFL that WR's have to run routes. As long as we have an extra slot for a great punt returner, we should keep him. He is not a reliable target for a developing QB.
  5. And we have stellar WR's such as Reed (who actually is an adequate #4 or #5) and Parrish ((Nothing more than a punt returner). What play would you call with this garbage
  6. Evans doesn't have TJ Houshmanzadah, Henry, and all the other weapons, plus Carson Palmer at QB. Evans has one of the most pathetic supporting casts in history
  7. He is a lesser version of Lee Evans- only he has a big mouth
  8. Having a great coach tends to be problematic..........
  9. I'd say it was both. Thats why you want a bunch of studs on your line at the same time, not just Stroud and a bunch of role players
  10. It may be a bit early to say, but he reminds me of Steve Walsh
  11. Stroud played really well next to John Henderson. Unfortunately, we don't have a John Henderson caliber DT to put next to him. You need four DT's. You build at the line of scrimmage if you want to win ballgames.
  12. I think you overstate our offensive line. Your are right about Fowler being subpar, but I think Walker is servicable at best. Not enough push out of the RT position. I think Lynch made them look better than they are. I wouldn't say they are a liability for the most part. Point taken on TE, but I do think Jay Riemersma was pretty good. I wouldn't waste a first-day pick on any of the TE's. JP has a lot of worth to us as a backup. He is at the very least a competent QB that you can give the ball to when you need to. I really agree with you about the DT position. Adding Stroud and swapping Tripplet for Johnson does a little, but not much. Stroud isn't going to change everything. If we could get Balmer, I would be happy with the position. I think this is the year to fix WR, but if we went all DL/OL it wouldn't bother me- you don't fix everything in one year.
  13. This is why you have to have good scouts.....didn't Green Bay get Rian Grant AFTER the first day of the draft? You never HAVE to reach, unless you panic and do something stupid, which is what fans tend to want.
  14. As I have said, if our first two picks are WR James Hardy and DT Kentwan Balmer, I would be ecstatic. Hardy could be a #2 this year if he wins the spot, or start off in the slot. He eventually could become the #1, which would allow Evans to just focus on doing what he is best at. Balmer showed a lot of improvement when Butch Davis got to NC. A rotation of Stroud, McCargo, Balmer and Johnson could be pretty dang good. Again, the WR's may not do much this year, but thats fine- let 'em develop- unless you want a mediocre team that goes 7-8 or bombs in the first round of the playoffs. If you want a good team, then act like it! WR's I like later on (and if they don't run EXCELLENT routes, forget it): Devin Thomas (Michigan State), Adaries Bowman (Oklahoma State), Jerome Simpson (Coastal Carolina), Kevin Robinson (Utah State) and Todd Blythe (Iowa State) I also like Owen Schmitt from West Virginia at FB Not too high on any tight ends....maybe a UFA to be dug up? OL: Brandon Albert (Virginia), Eric Young (Tennessee), Gosder Cherilus (Boston College), Kirk Barton (Ohio State) DL: Johnny Dingle and Kellen Dykes (West Virginia), Joe Clermond (Pittsburgh), Lionel Dotson (Arizona)
  15. I think we should only go two-deep at any position. If a guy isn't good enough to start, why bother keeping him.
  16. Why not? Its better to get saddled with a contract of a mediocre player that will prevent you from signing good players? Either way, you don't improve your team. Waiting for a guy thats worth the $$$$ is the smart move.
  17. Yes, they would be upgrades, but I am much higher on the WR's. A big WR to put in the slot can be just as effective as a TE- at least in the passing game. I think Maningham from MIchigan is almost as overrated as Ginn was last year- as an OSU fan, I recognize that Ginn was a great college player, but he had no idea what route running is. I have a feeling that Gholston will be the OSU bust in this year's draft- I am not high on him at all.
  18. They can only go with whats available, and try to over pay as seldom as possible. If what they need isn't available, they just have to wait.
  19. I know a bit about that program- trust me, the kid can play. Won't be drafted on the first day though.
  20. Great job catching him- very good small school prospect. Big target, good hands, and very smart. For those who keep looking for a Wes Welker, there are no guarantees, but this may be a taller version, and he should be a second day pick- we need more than one addition.
  21. Actually, there are a bunch of great WR's in this years draft, and not just high picks. If we can trade down in the first and up in the 2nd and somehow come away with WR James Hardy and DT Kentwan Balmer, I would be absolutely ecstatic. WR's that could be available later include Adarius Bowman, who could be a good slot guy with size in the red zone and Jerome Simpson who is a strong small school prospect, I also like Adrian Arringotn from Michigan as a second day prospect. I see no tight ends that really interest me much, but I say every WR we have except Lee Evans is subject to replacement with a draft pick
  22. If I came across as not realizing it happens both ways, then thats bad on my part. Its one of the reasons I would never register with either party. The power brokers in both party care only about retaining and expanding their power, not about us and not about the country.
  23. Still, he is only one player and won't be on the field on all plays. I'd like to add more to the DL.
