  1. Because you don't have to take a certain number of offensive players, defensive players and a certain number of special teamers. You go in as a player. My point is this- compare him to a hall of famer or great player and he comes up short. And that shouldn't be taken as a slam against him- he was one of the highest character players I have seen, and he probably was the best ever at what he did.
  2. If you were building a team, pick one from each two to start with: Bruce Smith or Steve Tasker Reggie White or Steve Tasker John Elway or Steve Tasker Jerry Rice or Steve Tasker Now tell me, did any of those take much thinking? Tasker may have been the best ever at what he did- I think he was. Still, the Hall of Fame needs to be more exclusionary than inclusionary. Tasker was one of the highest character players I've ever watched, but I don't feel he should be included in the hall of fame. I think Darryl Talley will fall in the same category.
  3. Unfortunately, the Olympics no longer stands for what you said in the first paragraph, and its a shame that they don't
  4. People are comparing a QB that hasn't even played for a full season to Joe Montana. What do you expect.
  5. The only way I would pull Edwards aside from injury is if his playing time is hurting his development- meaning that he is repeating mistakes and developing bad habits. To be honest, I wouldn't have played him for his first 2-3 seasons, keeping a veteran- be it JP or another quarterback. Most QB's should be developed out of the spotlight.
  6. Bill- I agree with you, my problem is that many of these kids need protection from their own parents stupidity. Legislation won't fix the problem, it might even make it worse. I just hope that the legislation sounds the alarm that a sound course of action needs to be found.
  7. Well, I don't think we're that far. I think we definitely need a center on the O-line, and some better DE's. I reserve judgement on the DT's until I see Stroud play. At WR, I have said before, I'd like to see a trade for Michael Jenkins who is being wasted in Atlanta- he is an upgrade in the slot, and may be able to play outside at times if we get good QB play. We need to stick with Trent throughout his development, no matter how poorly he plays at times, if he has a down season every now and then...whatever. We just can't keep starting over, or we will be waiting at least that long
  8. Kids don't know not to eat it, and they end up hooked on it. Its the dumb as rock parents of this generation that are to blame. To me, a better alternative to TRYING to legislate McDonalds out of existence is check kids for physical fitness every year, and if they don't meet a standard, they let them repeat the grade! If a parent wants to try to sue over it, don't even let a judge hear the case- throw it out. We are getting fatter, dumber, less creative and more dependent on foreign oil by the minute. Its time to get back to the work ethic and ideals that the country was built on. By the way (the 100th time I've said that in this thread, by the way), I am more for the method I just stated than using legislation that won't work to begin with. The fact is, something needs to be done- even if its wrong!
  9. I hope you are right, but I don't think we are good enough on either line at QB or WR. You don't improve that much in one offseason- but if we are heading in the right direction, I will be satisfied with that.
  10. Actually, I think Dungy has been in the league longer- he had all those years in Minnesota. After Jauron's 13-3 season, they lost quite a bit of the defense that got them there- and Jauron wasn't too pleased about that. He has worked with Cade McKnown, Jim Miller, JP Losman, Trent Edwards and a few other world beaters at QB. Fans typically call for the QB or head coach to be out when a team don't win. The fact is both of our lines are average at best, and that is a generous assessment. Better than before does not equal good.
  11. I don't want laws made against any industry- I want it fixed the right way. Something I am sick and tired of is the fast food industry doing all their research and adding the right flavoring here and right flavoring there and pawning off their slop like addicting drugs. And if you think that isn't a fitting description, then you are fooling yourself We are the most out of shape country in the world, and the cost of eating bad is dwarfed by the cost of eating good- that isn't right. I know overregulating is bad for the economy- everybody knows that! But status quo isn't good for us either.
  12. The Seahawks beat us in a close game. They are better at nearly every position except RB, which they aren't bad at. Both teams are strong at LB, but they are stronger. It will probably be similar to last year's season opener. I see us as a better team than last year, but I think we will have fewer wins.
  13. And all we need is for you to come visit our wonderful timeshare........
  14. Thats why we need to fix the educational system- SO WE DON"T HAVE TO PULL GARBAGE LIKE THIS!
  15. Apparently you only read the part of my post you didn't like.........and apparently you don't know what I mean
  16. Fast food restaurants are like drug dealers. I don't like having to legislate against them, but if thats what it takes, then so be it.
  17. The Iraq we set up will probably never be stable. No matter when we leave, they will have to stand or fail on their own under the same pressure. Therefore, the forces that push us to stay will be perpetual.
  18. Fiedler was a solid QB- Edwards has ways to go to get to that level. And he will need much better surrounding talent as well.
  19. Actually, there are a lot of parallels in all three. Leadership process remains the same, no matter what the task you are trying to accomplish. I was using that as an example because there are so many subordinates that it is nearly impossible to interact with all of them. You could make a similar analogy between the general formulating a plan of attack to defeat the enemy to a CEO planning on how to dominate a market. In the end, the leader's skill set is very similar, but the task is different.
  20. If he could, then there would be no need for coordinators and assistants. There is some individual interaction, but the head coach needs to not overstep the coordinators and the coordinators need to not overstep the position coaches, otherwise you get into micromanagement- and that leads to a dysfunctional team
  21. I think a key problem is that people don't really understand what the head coach actually does. The head coach does not get to work with each unit, nor should they try. Their role is to keep everyone on the same page, and to get the most production possible out of what they have. Unlike in other sports, a head football coach is much like a CEO. This is due to the fact that you just have too many players to work individually with. Yes, they are responsible and accountable for the production of each unit. Unfortunately, that analogy is also why so many of them burn out so quickly, trying to do way too much.
  22. Revolt? How would they do that? Call WGR55 more? Not that Jauron would want that type of offense anyways
  23. Yes and no. Audibles can be helpful, but sometimes you have certain plays that are such staples that you become good enough at them to execute against tougher defenses.
  24. Thats fine with me....I don't watch MTV either
  25. Wanted was a MUCH better movie than Dark Knight, so was Ironman
