  1. Because Favre's decision affected the entire offseason. They made aquisitions based on the fact they wouldn't have him. The focus has been on transitioning to running a system that won't turn over the ball and running more, giving the defense the chance to win games especially in the cold weather. Favre is a riverboat gambler who won't play into the system, why should they undo all of the changes they made and that the players bought into on Favre's whim? All of the players bought into the changes, and the Packers should upset all of that just months before the season- that would signify a lack of leadership and would lose the trust of the players who spent the offseason preparing for the changes. I'm as big a fan of Favre as anyone, but he has to accept being the backup or go where the Packers allow him to go. His other option is to stay retired.
  2. Thomas and Bennett both were guys that offenses had to game plan around. Both were phenomenal players capable of changing a game on any given play. I don't even know where to begin comparing Reed and Carter, or which is better. We were further ahead of the AFC, while Minnesota couldn't compete with the Washingtons, 49ers, Cowboys and Giants other than the occasional win. Both were definite hall of famers that could get open against anyone, and against double coverage. They don't make em like that anymore
  3. He said if he can't play for the Packers, he wants to play in the division and against them. Thats not his call- he can go where the Packers ALLOW him to go.
  4. He is under contract to the Green Bay Packers- he is their asset. His football future belongs to them. When Brock Lesnar left WWF for a football career and failed, he didn't have the option to go to another wrestling organization despite the fact that Vince did not bring him back. The Packers do not owe Favre anything. They have every right not to allow him to go somewhere where he can damage them. LIke it or not, the NFL is a business and what the Packers are doing makes perfect sense.
  5. So if a top CEO retires, then decides it was a mistake, the company should just let him go elsewhere and run them out of business? That would be a smart move.......
  6. I think we should release Jason Peters, so he can go to Miami and be paired with Jake Long
  7. But we are making them a "democracy" and democracy is good, everything else is bad. I wonder if there are any witches, errr, terrorists there
  8. OK, if we don't have Peters, we'll be running slide protection all the time, and then everbody's big, fat darling will be exposed on the right side for the scrub he is. That is the value of having a dominant left tackle. We have a top five pick if we don't have Peters
  9. Sorry, but you are wrong. Favre is under contract to them- a contract that he signed willingly. He is THEIR ASSET. Why would they hurt their own position by allowing him to go to Minnesota, Detroit or Chicago? That would be irresponsible on the Packers part! He has to be willing to go to a team that they are willing to trade him to- thats just how it goes. If he didn't file his retirement papers, this wouldn't be an issue. As Vince once said: "Bret screwed Bret" only this time, it is actually true
  10. Funny thing is, that the republicans I talk to want a lot of the same things as the democrats- the two sides just differ on how to get there. And both sides are counting the days till Braniac is out of office.
  11. Somebody has to win the AFC North this year. Don't be worried about Cleveland, because if we don't get Peters back, our battle may be with Kansas City- for the first pick in the draft. Without Peters, we got nothing
  12. Cleveland has one of the best offensive lines in football AND some awesome offensive weapons. While I don't think their defense will be all world, it will be much improved from last year. I see no reason that they would not be able to run and pass on us effectively, despite their weakness at QB. By the way, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Cincy don't look like world beaters in that division, so they may have a clear path to the playoffs
  13. Look at how much Cleveland had to build up their team before the mentioned players were able to make an impact. It is the fallacy of the one-year turnaround. They had high picks for a long time, and eventually things got better. Cleveland would have been better sooner if Butch Davis didn't try to build through free agency and set the team back. Patience is a virtue, and we are only in year 3 of the post TD mess
  14. I am really not a diehard supporter of Jauron. SHow me someone better who is available, and I'm fine with that. They probably wouldn't caome near Buffalo though. Schobel is a good DE, but he is all we have there. Parrish will make a catch or two a game, but he is really just a punt returner- and a very good one. Hardy will probably do less than Moulds did as a rookie. Reed is an ok slot WR, and we are nowhere close to having Jason Peters- without Peters, we will have one of the WORST offensive lines in the NFL with an inexperienced QB behind it. As far as that cake schedule, its not so easy. I think without the weather to be a factor this time, I think Cleveland will roll us, and I think between NY and Miami there is two more losses- just figuring that neither will be as bad as last year.
  15. What makes you think they have the talent to make the playoffs in the extremely competive AFC? We have no proven QB, despite having arguably the best OL in the league (who is holding out), our OL is not a strength. Stroud, even if not healthy is an upgrade, but we are thin at DT at weak at DE. This will affect our linebackers and DB's. We are still horribly thin at WR and our RB's need to learn to block. Tight end has been a position of weakness since letting Riemersma go. With New England, Indy, San Diego, Cleveland, Jacksonville, and Pittsburgh looking at the playoffs and Houston ahead of us- not to mention the Jets with experience at QB and Denver being decent....I don't see us in the playoffs. That isn't to say that we can't make significant strides and show we are moving in the right direction. We are in year three of rebuilding from the Donahoe disaster. A disaster that decimated our offensive and defensive lines and wasted numerous draft picks on QB's, smallish WR's and second tier DE's
  16. Global warming, while real, is not man made. Nor does it always mean that colder temperatures will not be experienced at times. It is more of a rise in average temperatures, which gives rise to doubters. While it is not man made, it is man accelerated. I see no reason why we cannot only reduce carbon emissions, but find ways of removing the carbon dioxide in controlled amounts so we can continue with life as normal.
  17. Way too early to attach a success or bust label to McCargo, but people always seem to need to define things now...... Many label Dan Wilkinson a bust, despite an extremely successful career.
  18. I don't agree with the Iraq war, but at this point it doesn't matter. We are there and can't deal with what if's. By breaks, what I meant is that the same people have been there too long or did not get enough of a break between deployments. Abu Graib WAS NOT THE FAULT of the soldiers that perpetrated the atrocities, but of the corrupt regime that put them in that situation. Good people CAN AND WILL be overcome by extenuating circumstances, and that has been proven time and time again- and KNOWINGLY taken advantage of by our regime Hey, I never said cutting into the deficit would be easy or painless. Somebody has to pay Bush's bills since he isn't accountable for anything Ok, I am not a genius when it comes to this. But there are medications that are necessary to some conditions that cost in excess of $900 without coverage, and procedures can cost more. We have to find a way to help those who can't survive without this type of medical help. Am I advocating paying for someone with a cold to go see a doctor? No way.
  19. In January when we transition from the Bush Regime to the Obama/McCain Administration there are a number of things I would like to see: 1. A lot of input from whoever loses. They president and runner up won't agree often, but that is a good thing. Both have some good ideas and both are good people with a strong love of country. 2. Put an end to the special interests that are currently the real KING of the country. Things have to be done for the countries sake, not to help out a lobbyist 3. Make it clear that any digging we do for oil is merely a band aid. We not only have to end our dependency on foreign oil, we HAVE to end our dependency on oil PERIOD. At no time in the history of our country has our economy been exceedingly strong when we depended on a lot of oil. Windmills, watermills, solar, hamsters running on a wheel....whatever. 4. End most tax cuts to the wealthy and middle class. Evaluate what we can afford to do- the deficit doesn't need to be completely eliminated, but a lot of it needs to be gone 5. On Iran. Tty intervening and assisting with setting up with a nuclear power program geered away from weaponry. We may have to rely on nuclear power at some point, same with the rest of the world. If we can make them economically dependent on us for help, then we gain a leg up. 6. People have to be sold on not panicking on the economy. The fact is that it will get worse before it gets better. We need to stop borrowing and then using it to pay off other countries for precious oil 7. Fix the military that Bush broke. our soldiers cannot be gone that long or come back then leave again. Many were mentally broken because of this regime's sheer stupidity 8. Health care- while I am against totally socialized healthcare (the govt would screw it up), something needs to be made available to those who have no access. Particularly with NECESSARY medications and procedures
  20. It was more than being pass happy. Killdrive runs a terrible system, in which all of the skill position players have to make a read of the defense, and that determines the routes and QB progressions. One difference in a read between the QB and WR can result in a turnover. Killdrive is terrible Mularkey was a disaster from the start- I hated him from the word go. Williams made some rookie coach mistakes, but I think he could have developed into a good coach. He had one year with Rob Johnson at QB and an offensive line so horrible that we ended up taking "Super bust" Mike Williams. He also had no kicker that year either. Then his reputation was further damaged when our savior at QB which we traded a 1st round pick for turned out to be nothing more than a journeyman who was pretty good. We had an offense that year, but then TD got rid of Price, Centers and Riemersma. I think with a front office that wasn't trying to be everything to everyone that Williams would have eventually settled down and stopped trying to be every coach he ever worked under and would have been ok. As far as Jauron, give him an established QB, a solid line on offense and defense and then if he can't win....fine, move on. Change is fine, and if its Jauron, then thank him for the effort and move on. Its just important to isolate the problem before just getting rid of the coach and QB and starting over again with the same problems. It all starts with a vision up top. And it appears that vision is a ball control offense and a defense that is strong up the middle- not just on the line.
  21. I expect less than what Moulds did as a rookie. Hardy is not as good as Moulds was. Also, Moulds came into the league on a good team, this team has been awful
  22. Lindell and Bledsoe were demonized for the Pittsburgh game that season, but Clements pretty much got a free pass for costing us the Jacksonville game.
  23. We also never had a corner named Corner before!
  24. I'd prefer Pat Williams and Antowain Winfield. I haven't liked Clements since he went for the interception instead of the win against the Jags
