  1. Depends on the situation. Situation is a stronger determining factor in most things than the people it affects. Good people can do bad things, bad people can do good things.
  2. Wouldn't mind seeing that, but I'd prefer seeing us beat the Pats!!!
  3. Not to change the suhect, but hearing his name just reminded me of his truck stop on Rt. 82 near Greenwood, Mississippi.......been years since I've been there- great football stuff their- pics, footballs, helmets- all signed. I've been told he drops by every now and then. Any Bills fan that got to see him play should stop by there if they ever get a chance- if I remember correctly, it is on the east side of town, right near the I-55 (on the eastbound side of the divider)
  4. The thing is, they aren't going to win just because of Brett Favre. They already had a good offensive line and a good veteran running back- Favre will help the line by being able to make the throws that Pennington couldn't and he will help back the defense off the line of scrimmage. Ge will also make their decent WR's better- how good is anyone's guess. If they can average a few more first downs per game, it will help their undermanned defense, whether Jenkins can still play or not. Whether we finish better than the Jets or not doesn't matter- neither team is likely to make the playoffs this year. I don't want to chase a non-playoff team. I want to develop our players- Trent should still be here in a year or two when Favre retires for good- and the Jets are starting over. Favre will get them artificial wins- by that I mean they will bite the bullet later instead of sooner and will take much longer to become a good team again based on draft position- and they will have no playoff berths over those years to show for it.
  5. They should get as much a pass on mistakes in their personal lives as anyone else, as long as they bite the bullet when it comes to their personal lives affecting their jobs.
  6. Maive or not, I look at this the same way I look at the pro choice (which includes me) crowd's argument that making abortion illegal will lead to dangerous abortions- in that case, abortion WOULD BE illegal, just like blackmail is already. I know I worded that horribly, but I think you'll get my meaning!
  7. Whether or not Stroud is 100%, I think come the regular season, we will have a better defense than last year- a faster defense as well. Between that and cour return/coverage units, we will control field position. The main thing on offense is ball security and keeping our young QB out of bad situations (3rd and long) as often as possible. Our game plans won't include trying to light up the scoreboard, but to play a grind it out game of attrition and allow our defense and special teams to shorten the field.
  8. Remember when Dan Henning was here- I believe it was Levy's last year. WE had an very inexperienced Todd Collins and Antowain Smith in the backfield, behind a terrible offensive line. Van Miller basically called out what the Bills were about to do before each play, then they got stuffed more often than not. When you don't have a good offensive unit, you tend to be what fans term predictable. Its hard to get overly fancy with a very untalented group, particularly when you have a young QB and RB in there. You have a few things you can do, but not much. On the other hand, good teams, like San Diego- Ladanian Tomlinson is going to get the ball a bunch of times- even the popcorn vender knows that....the difference is that the defense can't stop what they know is coming. Things will be different when Peters is on offense and Stroud is on defense- I don't know how much different, but there will be some improvement. I think the defense will be better- also, Lynch will be in there more and won't be fumbling all over the place. We will still be a team predicated on using a defense that will keep the game within reach and a special teams that controls it. The offense will be to not screw up by turning the ball over and flipping the field for the other team. No playoffs yet, but everyone will just have to be patient while Edwards continues to develop- and there will be some growing pains as was evident tonight. We aren't going to a seat of the pants offense that just wings it- that isn't playing to our strengths- we will have an offense that plays to our stengths.
  9. Not all of preseason games is about seeing what you have- you see that a lot on the practice field. Much of what they are looking for is what works, what doesn't work, and why. Apparently they saw enough of what was going wrong with the first unit offense to work on in practice. Having them continually repeat the same mistakes over and over in a game serves no purpose.
  10. My only complaint is that is "Opportunities" came too early and with a franchise that is a laughingstock in the league. I am worried that the same thing is about to happen with Trent Edwards. And kid yourself all you want with media predictions- those around the NFL laugh at us. Maybe when we beat Miami this year, the fans in Toronto will tear down the goal posts.
  11. There lies the problem- many do not hold themselves to any standard, then they point the finger at those in positions of power. If its good enough for us, its good enough for them. If they shouldn't be doing it, neither should we- if our society cleans itself, up they people reaching seats of power will already be clean and won't be put in positions to be blackmailed. In the case stated- they should come clean and not allow themselves to be blackmailed. Other than that, their private lives are not for public consumption any more than mine is.
  12. No I don't care what politicians or so-called celebrities do in their personal time- and YES, they do have personal time, which is NOT for public consumption. They have just as much right to privacy as we do. This is just as bad as the people who tried to derail McCain's campaign because of his failed marriage. Since when do we expect our politicians to be any better than us- just like regular people, some are better than others.
  13. I think its stupid and a horrible use of their influence.
  14. Thats a mixed bag and in some ways could work to his advantage. It eliminates the possibility of confusing things with the green bay offense on similar plays- he will work that much harder to learn the offense. And don't forget, he is one of the best on broken plays at just flipping the ball to somebody for a few extra yards. One extra first down per drive can be a huge difference and swing the game.
  15. Oh, McCain flip flopped. Obama flip flopped. OMG, how many Americans are complete morons. We have turned changing your position when new information emerges into a bad thing- which is absolutely ludicrous.
  16. The National Enquirer of TV. Wow, the politicians are just like everyone else. Maybe they can delve into the lifestyles of my neighbors. This is stupid, I couldn't care less about what McCain and Edwards do in their personal time.
  17. I'm really glad we delve into the personal lives of politicians so much. Hey- I didn't hear a name, but I hear one of our wonderful politicians who voted for the wiretapping is upset because he went to the Olympics and the Chinese government can monitor what he looks at online.
  18. Gholston will be this year's Ted Ginn. I am a huge Ohio State fans, and saw both of them as good college players who won't do much in the NFL. I do think Favre will do well in his first year- it will really boost the performance of the WR's who will go all out for him. I also think the improved OL will jump start Thomas Jones. Kris Jenkins is the same situation as Stroud- are they healthy? They will be a tough matchup for us this year
  19. I completely understand what you are saying about the changing costs- but what scares me is how finite a resource oil is. We consume a ton of it, and how a low percentage of the world's oil. Our consumption is only going to go up, not down. When we use up the oil that is present in our country, the cost of foreign oil is bound to increase astronomically. I'd rather pay the changing costs while we still have oil to use than face an energy crisis that dwarfs what we have now- imagine not having oil AND not having changed over. It will be costly to make the change- and this is a bad time for us economically, but if we have a more serious shortage, we are sunk. I think the answer is cut back on the tax breaks for the oil companies, but don't eliminate them (of course) and start giving tax breaks to companies developing alternatives. The closer we get, the more the tax breaks shift towards alternatives and away from oil- that will help enact the change with minimal government interference
  20. So you would prefer the sound of Trent vs Chad
  21. He was near retirement and was starting to slide already- after a major injury, he won't be better than he was in his prime......slip of the tongue on the original post
  22. Walter Jones isn't quite as good without Hutchinson. He also doesn't have to make up for Fowler and Walker. Orlando Pace is still good, but isn't the same after the injury. Flozell Adams? Are you kidding? Chris Samuels- very good LT. Matt Light- disqualified. The Patriots cheat Tony Ugoh- he is part of there success, they are part of his. They actually ae an NFL franchise, we aren't. Jamaal Brown- no. Marcus McNeil- no. D'Brickasaw Ferguson
  23. OK, how many times has Brett Favre actually contacted the media? They are making far more out of this than it actually is. He was hoping to be released, but he wasn't making a huge stink out of it- his request just happened to be trumpeted by E-SPIN at least 4-5 times per hour. He wants to play football, nothing more nothing less. He wanted to be on a team in a certain division, nothing wrong with that, but the Packers don't have to accomodate him on the team he goes to.
  24. Will you be sliding protection towards Walker and putting a TE on his open side, like we had to do on the right side last year?
