  1. The Chargers went 0-0 for the 2001 season and the Bills went 5-4 in 2007?
  2. I don't think states should make laws on defense- unless you just wanted to dissolve the country
  3. I am not sure that that is the right way of doing things.......I keep seeing that the Federal Government should handle defense- if they fail to do that, does the right fall to the states? The Federal Government made this mess and needs to clean it up!
  4. From what I understand, the microbes deplete the area of oxygen, creating dead areas. The poison dispersants that were used have been making the problem worse.
  5. yeah, he should, cause absolutely no damage has been done.........
  6. If they do, I agree with the Players Association that rookie contracts should be 3 years, then make them UFA's
  7. Um, the guy has had one season. If anyone better watch his back its Roscoe Parrish, who was exposed after the league changed the punt return rules. We already knew he wasn't a NFL receiver
  8. I think the real problem- the front office has been fixed. For all the finger pointing at Jauron, Russ Brandon and John Guy made a mess.
  9. The big thing is that the starters won't be able to play every snap. I think we will get gouged when our backups are in there- the starters may as well. Rome wasn't built in a day. This season needs to be judged more subjectively than objectively- the record won't be good, but I think we are making progress.
  10. I love how people want to see all these violent hits that lead to concussions and other horrible injuries. Then they don't think that the players have the right to take their time and decide whether they want to come back or not. The players owe the fans- NOTHING! Fans need to get over themselves!
  11. It is his body and it is his timetable for a decision- don't be a diva and demand everything to be now.....
  12. Ha! The typo was worth the laugh I just got out of that!
  13. I believe I mentioned the 2008 dolphins who had drafted well for a long time. Already with a strong defense, they took a few years to assemble an offensive line. Atlanta had a lot of pieces on defense, including bennett, tuggle and buchannan. The oline was good and they had Jamaal Anderson and Chris Chandelier You may want to get that couch taken care of.......
  14. Um, yes there are rebuilding years. Things didn't just fall into place for baltimore and St. Louis when they won the Superbowl. They didn't fall into place for Miami when they won the division a couple years back. It took a few years of good drafting. No, this can't be a playoff year. We are built to have a somewhat decent running game. Running the ball doesn't equate to wins. You pass and stop the pass in the NFL.
  15. The talk I've heard about Troup is that he can be a good player, but has to get stronger. For the first season or two, I expect his play to be very limited- which is fine- we are looking to rebuild, not contend for the playoffs.
  16. The Jets signing Owens would absolutely be a dream come true. Put him on a defensive-minded, run-first team! Especially the one team in the division with a worse QB situation than us- they got to the AFC Championship despite Sanchez- and I see very little upside in him- he is just an arm, but does not have the mental capacity to make reads in an adequate amount of time in the NFL. I put him behind Edwards and Fitzpatrick. I think he would wreck them really quick. I hope it happens
  17. I fail to see a lot of examples of poor coaching. Over the last three seasons, I think we have really overachieved. A lot of fans really overestimate the talent level of the team. Parrish and Schobel aren't exactly Reed and Bruce......results bear that out with a number of different coaches
  18. Alpha- don't read into stats so much. If your eyes tell you he is a good QB, believe them. If they tell you he isn't, then go with that too. Stats are based on the talent level of the team. You know the game well enough to know what you are watching.
  19. Unless you do something awful, you don't get blackballed in the NFL if you can help teams win. Flutie did ok at times when he had Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, Eric Moulds, Bruce Smith, Ted Washington, Phil Hansen, etc...... on the same team. He was a journeyman QB, nothing more. People didn't gush over Jack Trudeau and they shouldn't over Flutie either......
  20. Chan will be a better game day coach if he has better players- that's how it works. With McKelvin back and in a starting role, our secondary should get better, but the 5-2 defense probably gets ripped by the short passing game. The overrated team is the New York Jets- I can see us pulling off an upset as I think their QB situation is worse than ours. Although Levitre and Wood showed promise last year, they are both young and Wood is coming off an injury. I don't think we're great at center and I have no confidence at all in any OT on the roster. We are not strong at WR- Evans is the only WR on the roster that has accomplished anything at this level. Who will be throwing the ball? Not anyone who has accomplished much. I think in 2-3 years, Carrington and Troup will have the potential to be good starters. The biggest stride we have made this offseason is acknowledging the fact that we need to rebuild, not reload. We have needed to rebuild for a long time. I like the direction Nix has things going in, but it will take time. I expect the Patriots to sweep the Jets and lose to Dallas in the Superbowl.
  21. If you reverse how we handle our QB situation in the regular season, then Johnson probably gets benched in the finale and Flutie benefits from the surrounding cast handing him a win over Indy before losing to Tennessee. This is what happens when none of your QBs are good enough. Truth be told, Alex Van Pelt was probably the best QB on the roster....
