  1. Man, that was the first NFL game I went to (I was 9 then). My Dad bought tickets midweek; I remember being so overwhelmed the first time I entered the Stadium. It just seemed so massive. My Dad wanted to leave, but being my first NFL game, there was no way I was going to leave early. So we hunkered down and I remember the guy who was sitting next to me pretty much threw me up in the air when they won the game. It was freaking amazing. My most prized sports collectible is the ticket stub, subsequently signed by Frank Reich. That's actually the reason I joined this forum, as Fezmid was making copies of the DVD at cost. I bought that one along with the 51-3 game for my Dad on Father's day.
  2. See, more proof that we don't need another DB in the first few rounds. If Youboty sucks, then Jauron will just strap them up.
  3. In Quimby voice: "She told me she was 16..." Overall, I think he's a very good back who will absolutely tear it up next year. He's a tough competitor who was really offended by the McGahee pick, calling it a slap in the face. Last year, he struggled mightily in the first few games before getting injured and losing his job to Willis. He did have a fumbling problem, but he worked hard at improving it. He's played through broken ribs and other injuries. He's a fairly tough guy, but his downfall in Buffalo has more to do with his complete lack of sense, both on and off the field.
  4. I was there...it was actually my first Bills game that I went to. I was 9 at the time, and when my Dad found out that it was going to be blacked out, he decided to take me. I just looked at the ticket last week...he paid $44.50/ticket. Honestly, it could not have been a better day for me. I dont remember a lot of the details about the game, other than I was ridiculously impressed by how huge the stadium looked back then. I remember waiting for nachos when the second half started and the Oilers returned the interception for a TD. My Dad asked me if I wanted to leave, but there was NO way that anything was going to cut my first Bills game short. Once the Bills closed the gap, the remaining crowd went crazy! Some older guy to my left actually picked me up in the "Fan-demonium." I also remember that it took us FOREVER to get out of the parking lot, but it didnt matter. To this day, one of my most prized possessions is my Frank Reich autographed ticket stub (we have no idea where my Dad's ticket stub went, but Im sure its somewhere amidst my ridiculously organized football card collection -- I think I was actually more anal retentive back then than I am now). And thanks to Fezmid, I just got the game on DVD for my Dad's B-day. Really, an amazing experience overall.
  5. Hmm, Charlie the Butcher is my family's favourite...its a small place near Lockport.
  6. My brother went to school in Georgetown, in DC... He used to go to a place called "A Taste of Buffalo" all the time... The thing is, the restaurant owner apparently had to put up a disclaimer saying that no actual buffalo meat was served! Anyways, as someone who is currently in Toronto and craving real Buffalo food every day, I wish you good luck. How I couldnt go for a Ted's footlong, Mighty Taco combo 1, and Anchor Bar pizza logs and wings right now... On that note, off to Tim Horton's; Toronto has one at nearly every corner .
  7. As much as I dont want to admit it, my interest in the Bills has really been spurred on by the lack of hockey. Im a diehard Sabres fan, first and foremost. At 20 yrs old, my first 10-12 years can be described as my football years. I was crazy about the Bills, always watching games with my dad. My first game that I attended was the greatest comeback game in 1993. But then around 1996, I started to watch hockey. NHL '96 remains my most played video game, undoubtably. I became addicted, and now Im going to school in Toronto, the hotbed of hockey. But without the Sabres and the inaccessibilty of the AHL and OHL for me, Im left to posting on message boards and checking to see how Vanek and other prospects are progressing. But with that said, I cant help but be more interested in the Bills again. My passion will always be hockey, but football is very easy to follow -- tons of press, many, many fan websites. I guess I cant help but get excited about the team. It'll be interesting to see in Losman can take the reigns, if McGahee can continue his progression, etc. If hockey comes back next year, Ill be there, but I think my passion for the NHL will never be the same.
  8. Well, I believe he's from Rochester and wants to play for Buffalo. At any rate, this guy is a hometown favourite in Rochester... He holds annual "Roland Williams" football camps and generally helps out in the community. I have no idea what kind of player he is, but there's a little insight...
  9. Absolutely. Ive seen a few of his films up here in little Asia, or Toronto, by its more popular name. Im not even trying to be sarcastic...I love the fact that its so multi-cultured, but its true Anyways, I remember watching couple of the movies at Kung Fu film fridays... Damn good stuff. Speaking of which, if your generally a fan of martial arts movies, go watch Ong-Bak. Its a Thai movie that just came to theatres yesterday (that I actually bought on "imported" DVD). The stunts are ridiculously remarkable -- imagine a more raw, violent version of Jackie Chan (the police story one, not the hollywood sellout), and you have a great movie. Anyways, Im a huge fan of martial arts movies and asian culture in general... Im actually considering taking mandarin starting next year. Kinda fun and sad at the same time...
  10. Thank you! I was wonderin when someone would get it right . But I must say, Ice Hockey was a thing of beauty. To this day, its my favourite game of all time, even surpassing Super Play Action Football on the SNES. I remember playing it all the time against my dad. Double Dribble was also fairly fun. Im 20 now, growing up when video games became big on the home market. I feel so lucky . Aggregated (with my brother) Consoles owned: Atari 2600, Commodore 64, NES, Gameboy, SNES, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, GameCube, GBA, XBOX, PS One. My life still wont be complete until I can pick up a Saturn, and maybe a PS2 when the price drops. I can forego the Genesis, Virtual Boy, gameboy color, etc. And I highly doubt Ill buy any of the next generation consoles. I have a huge backlog of games to play, and Im enjoying the newer games less and less. Ive played enough of the same RPGs and shooters... <b>Oh yah, to the orginal poster, your NES has to be cleaned.</b> It requires a bit of searching, but I remember reading about a method to clean it. Ive never tried it, but it involved you wrapping nylon (from say a stocking) around a piece of cardboard (the dimensions of which would have to be the same size as the internal chip in the NES games. I know it sounds ridiculous, but apparently it worked quite well for many people. Or you can buy a cleaning cartridge. I also found thing link: http://www.gooddealgames.com/articles/NES_Repair.htm
  11. I did the exact same thing for the no goal thing. I was staring at my TV, and I just kept telling my brother that his foot was in the crease. His foot was in the f*ing crease. But no, they keep the celebrations going. No replay, nothing. Eventually someone checks it, and they start questioning it too, but no... They dont do anything... I was only 7 when the Norwood thing happened, so not much I can say there. I did cry the next day at school, but what can you do...
  12. Me too. It was my first Bills game; my dad snagged a couple cheaper tickets. I still remember it as one of the greatest experiences Ive had. I still remember being in awe of the field when I first came out into the stadium; it seemed massive. I just remember after the first half, when Houston picked off that pass. My dad and I were getting nachos, and he thought we should leave. I refused, and the rest is history. After they won, everyone went nuts. My prized possession: a Reich-signed ticket stub from the game, with the score 41-38 written on it. Ah, at least Gilbride was good for something
  13. Ah fear...its the way to live! Well, thats what the Bush administration believes in at any rate. Any time Bush has dropped in the polls, sure enough, we go up to code orange or bright fuscia (or whatever the hell Tom Ridge pulls out this week). Oh, and be assured that Cheney can come out and tell us that Bin Laden has been hanging out with Hussein, and they have built a chemical, nuclear, and biological superweapon... Sigh, sorry, just had to vent out my political opinions. If Bush gets re-elected, Im moving to Canada. Granted, Im already here for university, but still
  14. Yay go Canada! Seriously, its great up here. Im from Rochester, now in my third year at the Univ. of Toronto. Ill be sure to grab a few of these (available at Tim Horton's ). They also just put out a new $20 bill, which is decent, but nothing will ever beat the $5 bill with kids playing pond hockey on the back. Such a great country, though the exchange rate isnt so great for Americans right now Oh yah, the CFL is a joke up here too . The only sellout for the Argonauts in recent memory was when M. Ali was going to be there at an opening ceremony. People bought the tickets to see him, and the stadium was 3/4 empty by the end of the half...
  15. The internet never translates sarcasm, I find. A few of my friends unfortunately have blogs (internet journals). I occasionally post sarcastic remarks...but the sarcasm never translates and I have gotten jumped on before. Sigh. I dont like things... Anyways, I personally enjoyed the post
  16. Ooh! Oooh! I know this one! Its...its...a gametime decision . Normally I would say that Henry plays, but I dont think so this week. Coaches rest him to heal and, as an added bonus, finally let Willis show what he can do. If the weather is as crappy as they say tomorrow, Buffalo wins. Bledsoe may suck, but his arm is still ridiculously powerful and can deal with the winds better. And if Willis plays, we may actually get the first down on 3rd and short, the TD on 3rd and goal... If we have to rely on Lindell...well, our chances are shot. Esp. in the poor weather, I have no confidence whatsoever in him.
  17. I enjoyed most of it, but the SP guys always manage to dissappoint in some ways. They just resorted to far too much oversimplified bathroom humour, esp. in the second half. The idea, the parody, and most of the execution was brilliant, and I definitely enjoyed parts of it. The things that pissed me off: overdrawn vomitting actor, the "test" to see if he's loyal... But other parts were simply genius. The main song "America..." was great, the Lease song... The parody of certain scenes rivals the Naked Gun movies . In the end tho, I would say that the good outweighed the bad, but I cant help but think that had the movie not fallen back on bathroom, oversimplified jokes, it could have been so much better. But that is usually my problem with Matt Stone and Trey Parker... Such good ideas, but they get drawn in by the gross-out humour too often.
  18. Ahh, whats the difference? Seriously, this team will likely finish around, say 5-11. If we give the Patriots some help to another couple regular season wins...whats the difference? Shaw was useless here, aside from occasionally challenging Reed for the role of incompetant 3rd WR. If he goes and is reborn, Im not holding it against the Bills. What I like about this move is that it was made by Mularkey rather than Donahoe (or so some of the reports have been). Its time someone else can screw this team over instead of TD I just wish that we had a 1st round pick... At least I could get excited about losing... Now I just hope they can look slightly less lost each week, and we might eventually see a win.
  19. I have no confidence in him at all, and I personally believe the coaching staff doesnt either. He has no consistency. Really, it fits right in with most of TD's moves, save maybe signing Spikes. Well, the Amerks are doing well... Umm, go vanek!
  20. Okay, I found this on Sabrefans.com, and figured it might be of interest to quite a few posters here. Essentially, MSG has been looking into acquiring Empire Sports Network, including Sabres coverage. This could help provide local coverage, but may put certain programs at great risk (Hockey Hotline, Empire Sports Report). This is a petition to MSG and Adelphia to support the continuation of the coverage: Petition
  21. Yes, the bills will win, and Im currently gearing up for an amazing year with the Sabres... By winning, I mean that they will win a game this year (probably more like 5 games, but you have to start somewhere) And by gearing up for a great Sabres season, I mean checking up on all the prospects in Juniors and AHL, and being a Vanek fanboy for the rest of the year. This is a Buffalo sports fans life. Welcome to reality!
  22. I have no confidence that this offense can play a full half, much less a full game. Unless the defense can keep the Jets to under 10 points, there is little chance. With a completely clueless Bledsoe, below average TE's, a nonexistent FB, a sive of an O-line, a tripping Henry, and underutilized Evans and McGahee, this team better plan on winning with defensive turnovers, or not at all. Final score: Jets 24 Bills 13
