  1. I think of these three about every game this year, but mostly of Pancho because we lost him before this season. I'll never forget the memorial at Hammer's the day before the opener, his family, everyone in tears (I'm not crying YOU'RE crying) - just showed the love that Bills fans have for one another and what a special bond this team brings to people. I was lucky enough to end up with one of the Pancho cut-outs featured in the OP, he's been hanging in my window here in Vermont looking out at all who pass reminding them Viva Los Bills. Thanks for looking down this Pancho - we miss you, but this season's for you!!
  2. Was already a thread and debunked - this is not THE Coach if the Year award. Still, nice to see McD recognized, but... In fact there are TWO other threads on this. Search bar or just, ya know, scroll down before you post peeps...
  3. It didn't say he was chosen as Coach of the Year, it said they asked a panel of NFL execs to choose their COTY, MVP, etc. It's actually media members that vote for those awards... Will find it online and link shortly. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001089417/article/nfl-execs-pick-awards-whos-mvp-dpoy-coach-of-the-year R.I.F.
  4. Good seeing you Plenz - let's do this one more time in OP!! The side entrance WAS key, like you said we were in the stadium immediately! As for the temps, I was cold outside (likely because my blood was 75% alcohol at that time), but once we were inside and settled in, I felt fine. Oh and we had season ticket holder seats, lower bowl, right on the 10. Great seats, especially when the action was at that end. However just like every other stadium when they were on the opposite side of the field you think "Nice 3 yard run. Or was it 6?" - hard to tell from that angle, at that distance
  5. Nice write up as always Virgil! A few thoughts my my bleary tailgating eyes: - I actually really liked the stadium and thought that it felt very Pittsburgh. The big open concourses were a breath of fresh air compared to the New Era (they actually reminded me a ton of Green Bay) and I liked the art all around (helmet sculptures, paintings, etc.) and was more than a little jealous about the beams that each had a Lombardi trophy in them. - The pre-game is definitely different being in a nice paved lot next to the stadium (s/o to my friend for paying for the "good" parking), but we still chilled and grilled and drank (semi-excessively), so it wasn't really THAT different. Obviously it was no Hammer's Lot, but what the heck is? - Pittsburgh D is swarming, fast and tough. To Virgil's point, not a ton of disguising, but they brought the heat - they're the strength of the team and it shows! - Fans: Nearly everyone was cool, sure there was some razzing, but in general all was good. EXCEPT for that ONE guy behind me who kept grumbling about all of the Bills fans, talking smack about how much better the Stillers were. After all his quacking, I had to turn around to give him a pound after Duck's first pick - he gave my the finger instead ?. Then after Renegade he was REALLY chirping, but Josh and Smoke shut the entire stadium up - you could feel the air go out (especially after that song), again, dude seemed less than happy. All-around though I had a great time being back in Pittsburgh after about 20 years - hung with some old friends, got to see the city again and drank about 17,000 beers / cocktails. Good thing we're almost to Xmas break time at work, I'm going to need some time to recover...
  6. EXACTLY! Because in the end the one data point that is the MOST significant is wins and losses...
  7. Was going to say, I can't be the only Bills fan that's listened to this song about 5,000 times since Sunday in Pittsburgh (I also can't be the only fan still kinda hungover on Tuesday ?) It was Hughes that wanted to take it back to Buffalo
  8. Not gonna lie, it was kinda fun when they did the whole thing - really just blacking out all of the scoreboards gives a "What the heck...?" moment for opposing fans. And even better was how we responded ?
  9. Just wow, what a great game, fun time and, yeah getting the W felt good! We taking playoffs baby? I think we are...
  10. From what I vaguely remember of last night, there are a TON of Bills fans here. I kept getting compliments on my coat, until the end of night when a guy yelled at me for wearing a Bills coat, I was like “Oh, I’m wearing a Bills coat”, kinda forgot I was in enemy territory ? Currently High Lifeing up, then dawntawn to see plenz and a cast of thousands!
  11. You know how I feel about this, a Hammer appearance makes ANY production better. Now if I could just finish my treatment for the epic motion picture “Hammer: A Man and his Lot” (coming 2024) we’d be looking at Oscars... ???
  12. A gentleman, scholar and a true Bills fan right there - get stuck outta town, the Mafia has a safe house for ya ????
  13. For the record, in a crappy hotel near Dulles - this is going to be a “drive to finish” adventure tomorrow am ? This is now two 18+ hour delays in a row in my last two flights. At least United keeps refunding me, though I’d rather just get where I’m going on the same day I leave...
  14. WE WERE ON THE PLANE!! Bummer, a ground delay in DC has put our (well, I'm traveling alone, but my Mafia friends are also on this flight) is likely going to make us miss the connect. That said, we're moving forward people - make it to DC, then we figure out to how to get to the 'Burgh ??
  15. Suuuuure - during a week were the talk was if they lose, their coach might be fired, playing in THE ultimate "eyes on us" timeslot, in their house. ? Not saying Pittsburgh won't be ready, but, ya know...
  16. Those giant, wide open, TEs, sure are nice... And to be fair, nice throw to get it there.
