I'm listening to Tim Ryan & Pat Kirwan on Sirius NFL radio (work productivity declining) and they've talked a few times about the possibilities of trades tonight. Their view is that some trades are going to happen, but that compensation to move down, move up or for players is going to be lower than usual this year. The talent of the draft and the uncertain labor situation are factors. Haven't heard anything on the Bills, but I'll let y'all know...

Trent, Fitz, Brohm: Where's the freakin' leadership?
Heitz replied to yungmack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. How do you know they haven't (or haven't at least sent a text) 2. NFL teams aren't what they used to be back in Kelly's day, it's not a group of guys that are together for a long time and become more than just colleagues. Not saying that means QB's shouldn't try to rally the troops, but I'm not sure the young players still have the same relationships as guys used to -

Bills looking for second rounder for Lynch
Heitz replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now we're talking sense - I wouldn't even have to think, I'd do this now. I love Marshawn, but this is a move we NEED to make. We don't need two potential 1,500 yard backs on the roster, we DO need another quality, young player. We have way too many holes to fill, and in a deep draft that second rounder could be gold! -
He was at Robert Downey Jr's bday last night. You should follow TO on Twitter, the guy is always up to something...

Welcome to the modern NFL, it's not just the Bills, players just don't retire with their original team now. Ask all those Eagles fans rocking McNabb jerseys. Your best bet is run throwback jerseys - you *know* Thurman, Bruce, Reed and all the rest of the boys are retiring as Bills!

While Nix & Co. enjoy Easter weekend, Skins steal McNabb
Heitz replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fwiw, schefter said on Twitter: "Bottom line: Donovan McNabb preferred not to go Raiders and handpicked Redskins, Andy Reid said Eagles wanted to make McNabb happy." this 1 makes me believe that he didn't want to come to buffalo (or Oakland) and 2 Ried is batshit crazy trading him in the division to make mcnabb happy. He might be happy, but when the skins beat the eagles, Philly fans sure won't be happy. There's also been NO talks of an extension, no way Buffalo would make the trade without an extension deal in place... -

Great interview, ya gotta love what he *wants* to do - play tough, sound, smart football. Also loved the classic quote: "If we win every one by 1, we'll be just fine". That last question was inspiring - can anyone clip just those last 20 - 30 seconds? That's a perfect Buffalo quote. -
Begging you guys to keep the April Foold posts to a minimum

Jason Peters ripped for his poor play in Philly last year
Heitz replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair, he is named after a delicious sandwich... Those that think JP is the best LT in the league are kidding themselves. Does he suck? Not really. Does he deserve to be te highest paid? No way. -
NFLN says the Philly Inquirer said that the Rams have offered their second round pick for McNabb!

And? From a D&C article: "His visit to Buffalo included a physical, which was conducted by team doctor Andrew Cappuccino, who played a key role in helping Bills tight end Kevin Everett recover from a severe spinal cord injury in 2007." FWIW, I like the advice of our doctors...

UPDATED: Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos
Heitz replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Mayock was impressed by Tebow's progress, fwiw. Later in the show they said something about him being "blown away"... http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-draft/09000d...-pro-day-report -
UPDATED: Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos
Heitz replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need to draft Tebow NOW! I'm watching NFLN and Jaime Dukes just said, with all of his usual conviction, the Tebow is going to fail in the NFL. I always go with the polar opposite of what Dukes or Faulk say - what idiots. // rant over. -
I don't bother to *read* thread, I'm too happy we signed two defensive players! o_O Off to bed, I bet when I wake up we'll have signed Edwards. Or not.

But how about now? It's done *now* right? Surely it's done by NOW...

Didn't see this posted, but I like the move even more... http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3...ba-4913e6abfaed The veteran linebacker talked about the franchise’s tradition as well as their move to a 3-4 defensive scheme as some of the aspects that convinced him to visit the Bills, but defensive coordinator George Edwards was one of the club's best selling points having been Davis' linebackers coach in Cleveland in 2004. “It was a huge factor in this decision," said Davis of Edwards being Buffalo's defensive coordinator “We had a great relationship in Cleveland and now we have the chance to do it all over again. He believes in me and I believe in him and I know we can get it done. The whole time I was in there we just kept talking about the defensive players that we have on this squad right now and with his expertise and my experience and the guys’ playmaking abilities we can definitely turn this thing around.” Davis is also very familiar with Bills outside linebackers coach Bob Sanders, who coached him for three of his collegiate seasons at the University of Florida.

I caught a bit of it too (I remember the end so I stopped before I got that far); RJ was definitely running for his life, it feels like times haven't changed since then! That first drop back to crushing sack became an all too familiar habit for Rob... Hard to believe we had the number 1 D that year, won 10 games with Flutie, yet Wade went with RJ. We really got RJ'ed on that one. I wasn't super opposed to the move at the time, but looking back Dougie would have had a better shot of winning that one. You don't base a qb start on the final game of the season no matter how much he lights it up.
