  1. Sounds like a little more drama down in FL, which is always nice to hear. All per the Twitter. Ian Rapoport @RapSheet Dolphins announce they have fired offensive line coach Jim Turner and head athletic Trainer Kevin O’Neill. Dave Hyde @davehydesports Kevin O'Neill was voted the NFL's best trainer this year by fellow trainers and medical staff. Was to be given award Friday. Alex Marvez @alexmarvez I did hear @MiamiDolphins did buy Kevin O'Neill a plane ticket back to South Florida. Of course, why bring him to #Combine in first place? Albert Breer @AlbertBreer Best I can tell, the firing of Kevin O'Neill has sent shockwaves through the Dolphins building. Very well-respected. Very well-liked. Alex Marvez @alexmarvez From what I hear, the athletic trainer's meeting at #Combine was interrupted so @MiamiDolphins could summon Kevin O'Neill for his firing Can we add another trainer to the staff? The BEST trainer last year? And people think the Bills are dysfunctional... Also, I searched for another Dolphins thread (and Miami and AFC East), but didn't find one. How can that be??
  2. Oh s**t - a callout on the first page! Little did we know that Payton would have a full on Edward's like meltdown... Great commercial reviews Ralonzo, you were spot on most of the time! IMO this was one of the worst years ever for commercials - I'm not even sure I have a favorite spot and I'm a marketer who's client is one of the biggest spenders at the game. All in all it was much like the game itself, a big old "Meh".
  3. Nice - EJ was on Sirius today too, but I missed that one. I'm actually in the city, might have to wander aimlessly up toward Times Square to see if I see the kid!
  4. Fwiw, there's a good bleacher report career narrative story on Schwartz out there. Since we can link BR here, google "Jim Schwartz: Utilizing the Analytical Mind of a Detroit Lions Revolutionary" Seems crazy that people aren't excited about the possibilities with our D next year...
  5. What ELSE would you wear? Have fun at the game - better wear that jersey over a jacket...
  6. Our search seemed smoother than Cleveland's Heck, Schwartz's name didn't even really leak until he was almost hired... I'm good with this - well respected (by Belichick even, maybe he can figure out how to stop the Pats) and has always had Ds that can stop the run!
  7. After a little Google: "Wide 9" D: http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2013/01/detroit_lions_coach_jim_schwar_73.html When he was a D Coord in Tenn (complete with "moneyball" references for his love of stats): http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/23/sports/football/23titans.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
  8. This doesn't really worry me as much - a new DC is going to want to bring in his guys that know his system most of the time anyway. I don't know enough about Schwartz's D to know if this is true, does he fit the new Bills goal to be an "aggressive, attacking organization"?
  9. I'm confused - because they said they had a plan in place should Pettine leaves it either means they definitely going internal or just saying that to fend off criticisms? The quote from Whaley was: “Right now, I think he’s having an interview as we speak. If he does get it, we will be happy for him, but we do have a plan in place. We just hope this resolution comes sooner rather than later," Doug Whaley told Buffalobills.com. “Coach has identified a couple of guys and as soon as we hear one way or another, if it’s good news for Pettine, than we’ll just enact our plan that we have in place,” To me that more like - we see the writing on the wall that one of our guys is going to leave, so we're considering new candidates , deciding who we'll call first, putting together interview questions and speaking points, considering tlmelines, reaching out for availability. It's just good business. You see that something might potentially be happening so you put a plan in place to deal with it. Everything on TBD is always in full Jump To Conclusions mode...
  10. Someone on Twitter said Ed Donatell of SF and Kieth Butler are on the short list. Not sure if it's true, but like the names...
  11. Schiano? Are you guys nuts? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000316994/article/darrelle-revis-greg-schiano-created-tense-atmosphere Anyone else from Pittsburgh connects Whaley might pull into the mix?
  12. Now Schiano interviewed too? Per the Twitter: "@FOXSports reporting that former Bucs Head Coach Greg Schiano was interviewed on Wednesday for the #Browns Head Coaching Job. #Bills" Loved Murph calling them bumbling idiots wandering in the dark tonight - classic!
  13. I might need to make a Bills "Jump to Conclusions" mat as a prize for the TBD home opener raffle...
  14. The Buffalo Bills? I love to watch most NFL games, but I only root for the Bills (and watching Bills games definitely feels like a different experience - I'm more focused, nervous and the time seems to fly by)!
  15. More on the mess in Miami - sounds like a real clusterf down there (and people think the BIlls are in bad shape)! http://www.miamiherald.com/2014/01/08/3858193/armando-salguero-relationship.html http://www.miamiherald.com/2014/01/08/3857668/greg-cote-jeff-ireland-gone-but.html
  16. Well said. The one question that we'll probably never really know is DID the Bills have faith in the players they had? Maybe they felt that Andy was injured and knew that it would be crazy to pay him a boatload of cash, so they let him walk. Just because they put Colin Brown in, doesn't mean they loved (or even really liked) him - but no coach is going to say "our LG sucks, but hey he's what we have!" even if it's the truth! Hell, Belichick just half mumbles answers when asked about his team...
  17. Welcome to TBD the best, and worst, place in the world for Bills fans! Pro Tip: Attend the season opener tailgate to put a face to names (unless someone finally organizes that boycott of all Bills games).
  18. Players? I was hoping this was a thread on TBD posters...
  19. Regarding the CB article, that wasn't Marrone asking CB to write an article, it was a response to a question a fan asked. Your "Soviet newspaper mouthpiece" assertion is silly. Also, he dressed down reporters when the kept asking the same question about Mario. Look at how Belichick handles the media, he doesn't even answer questions, just a few grumbles and grunts - I'd like to see Marrone use that tactic more (though I think it would drive fans crazy) In Your Opinion. Sounds like Marcell is starting to get the message: http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/week-17/bills-notebook-dareus-angry-at-himself-after-second-straight-benching-20131229?two-bills-drive None of us are inside the locker room at OBD, so we really don't know WHAT motivates each player. Maybe this will help Dareus learn a lesson, maybe not, but the boss thinks it will and he's the boss soooooo... You've called Marrone a "blowhard" in several threads, care to explain? Early Rex Ryan - blowhard, current Doug Marrone - I'm just not seeing it.
  20. Or just bench him and keep him from doing the one thing he (supposedly) loves the most - playing football. People respond to different motivational factors. While I know you think you have it figured out, I'm pretty sure those on the inside of the organization have a better idea of what will work than fans on a messageboard....
  21. Let's Go Buffalo! I know there was lots of disappointment this year, but I'm still sad to see the season end - there were some fun moments...
  22. I thought the party was at your place, thoguh when I left Burlington with no Heady Toppers, I figured there was no point in stopping by...
