You make it sound like Peterman was "95% ready" and Allen was "25% ready", maybe they're both 85% ready but Peterman "won TC and the preseason" so he got the start. So yeah, Peterman sucked in game one so Allen, who is potentially almost as ready, gets the start.

The two big things that Allen has going to keep himself out of trouble is his escapability and his gun...

Warner's a busy guy, I'd be surprised if he got as in-depth at Cover 1 - breaking down individual plays, looking at each in slow-mo, really breaking it down. Warner probably saw some highlights and was like "WTF" Still, we can probably assume the guy knows his stuff, he did *OK* in the NFL!
