You make it sound like Peterman was "95% ready" and Allen was "25% ready", maybe they're both 85% ready but Peterman "won TC and the preseason" so he got the start. So yeah, Peterman sucked in game one so Allen, who is potentially almost as ready, gets the start.

The two big things that Allen has going to keep himself out of trouble is his escapability and his gun...

Warner's a busy guy, I'd be surprised if he got as in-depth at Cover 1 - breaking down individual plays, looking at each in slow-mo, really breaking it down. Warner probably saw some highlights and was like "WTF" Still, we can probably assume the guy knows his stuff, he did *OK* in the NFL!

Cool he started, did not have it, now it's time to make room for Josh... As for trading AJ, would people really want to see Nate benched, so that we can see a middling performance from AJ for three more games until we eventually got to Allen? I'm good on that, let's just go full bore Josh!!

This year I blame the players, it's pretty clear that we don't have the talent needed to run ANY scheme. We have some building blocks, a few serviceable players here and there, but overall. And while the lack of talent this year goes to the GM, they're playing the long game - they don't want to be "decent" this year, the want to be "great" in the future. Sucks for all of us that want some instant (or even delayed) gratification, it's gonna take a few years, but they're building a roster that theoretically won't play so damn poor...

Or a sign that they're not built to come back behind the powerful arms of Tyrod Taylor or Nate Peterman. I've seen this narrative spreading across TBD, yeah when they start to get blown out it's hard to come back - because they're not that good right now, because they're in the middle of a rebuild... Also, per the A22 thread sounds like there might be a few small things we can do to shore up the D. The O line however, yikes.
