  1. My favorite was riding in a taxi when the "new" Denver airport opened up. We asked the cabbie why the hell they built the place so far out of town, and his reply was they needed the land for federal holding pens for political prisoners.
  2. So what you're saying by extension is that Voice of America is a propaganda tool to usher in another age of evil?
  3. I thought I mentioned that earlier? He's the financial world's equivalent of OC
  4. Brian Schottenheimer can relate to this story as well. Bottom line is that if you want to attach a racial angle to the story, feel free. But the reality is usually far more nuanced, and usually tied to the coach's track record. After all Jim Caldwell got rehired even after going 2-14 in Indy because he redeemed himself in Baltimore. Ray Horton, OTOH has presided over pretty bad defenses since his star shined in the desert.
  5. Of course not. But does that mean he's getting the best person for the job?
  6. If it takes you 7 drafts to recognize that QB was a serious need, then you are ignoring the position.
  7. I took it as jw questioning the point that Dunne is the only good journalist in the area.
  8. It matters a lot if you're a candidate and you're wondering about the GM's position in the organization. Perhaps unwittingly, but Pegulas continue to neuter Whaley.
  9. Regarding LBs - if you go back to 4-3 then there's a role for Spikes in the defense again. Would Albright make the leap in year 2? Would McRay have a better fit? Look at the LB situation heading into the 2014 season, and I think this group is stronger
  10. As I said before, of course Pegulas will have the final signoff. That's never been in question. But in a press conference where Whaley stonewalled most questions, he went out of the way to explain that the previous hires were a committee process, but this one would be run by him & Monos. Which is how most job openings are filled - candidates meet with the recruiting front line and at the end they have a final sit down with the senior folks for the ultimate approval. Yet, after all the talk, the first interview with McDermott is at the Pegula's house. To me, the message is that maybe they're still reluctant to take Whaley's training wheels off.
  11. I don't think he said that. --- A: Well, this search will be different. The first one, I was an assistant [General Manager]. The second one, we did by a committee approach. This one will fall squarely on my shoulders with the help of Jim Monos. Q: Who was part of that committee two years ago? A: It was myself, Russ Brandon, Kim and Terry Pegula.
  12. How many HC job offers have Chudzinski and Pettine received so far? Jim Schwartz? Eric Mangini? Jim Tomsula? Shall we go on?
  13. That's not the point. Of course Pegula's will sign off on the final decision. That's not in question. But after getting roasted this week about the Rex issue and views that they may have swayed the last coaching decision, and them saying quite publicly that Whaley & Monos will handle the coaching search - where is the very first coaching interview being conducted?
  14. I think the biggest news of this thread is that stevestojan is finally off the **** list. What kind of thermal insulation do those brand new windows have to cause that much condensation? That shouldn't be an issue with new windows
  15. So much for Pegulas staying out of the coaching search
  16. Check Hughes's 2017 numbers - it flips. Post June 1 cut cap hit is $2.9 million, vs $10.45 million regular cap hit. Clay is almost at break-even
  17. FWIW, I found this passage to be particularly ironic, coming from the guy who insisted that Curtis Painter was an NFL quality QB (and played him for an entire year, not just one game).
  18. I wouldn't rule out restructurings for Clay & Hughes, with remote possibilities of getting cut.
  19. Look at the total offense, and it's not even a discussion. With Rex gutting the defense and with Cassell or EJ at QB, Bills would have contended for the top pick in the 2016 draft. It shouldn't even be a debate.
  20. Check your meds. How did the position get worse than Orton/Manuel?
  21. At the start of the 2nd period, MSG showed a graphic that Rangers were 5-1-1 when trailing by 2 after the first period. Doomed, I tell you.
  22. What? If not for Tyrod, Bills would be fielding Cassel and EJ over the last two seasons. Unless your theory is that with those guys starting, Bills would have had a realistic shot at Goff or Wentz?
  23. And didn't Terry fix that one week ago?
  24. College at William & Mary, huh?
