I saw that story, but there was another one that said the 2,700 was an accumulation of the nitrate over the 6 year period. In any event, it's massive incompetence to store that quantity in an urban area. -

Too high of collateral damage in lives and retribution. -
The first name is more appropriate for the head anti-semite of NYC. Il Duce Cuomo has a ring to it.

2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded from a nearby fire. The cause of the fire hasn't been disclosed. In any event, who stores ammonium nitrate next to a fireworks warehouse? -
NYC couldn't even align its response between its Health and the Hospitals departments, but it's surely the Federal government's fault.

The daily spike is mostly due to a large increase in Brownsvile TX, which is very likely due to the proximity to the border. Take that out of the numbers, and the data looks very promising for the end of this thing. Arizona is fully on the mend, with Florida close behind. The death cult hates to admit that Florida & Texas combined have less than 1/5 of NYS's death rate
-
The numbers are actually worse, since you have to treat NY tri-state as a single region. In that case, about 15 counties within 100 miles represent 50,000 deaths.

A big party at a personal injury lawyer's house? I wonder which party he's totally in bed with? Also many at the party were bused in from NY, but I understand that they should keep airports closed to keep transmissions down.

Don't forget the dancing on the graves of the virus victims. -
That darned POTUS didn't listen to her. Oh, wait "I leave my post today with deep disappointment," her resignation letter said, taking aim at Mayor Bill de Blasio's administration. "Our experts are world renowned for their epidemiology, surveillance and response work. The city would be well served by having them at the strategic center of the response not in the background." The scary part about the story is that NY Health & Hospitals were put in charge of contact tracing, when that agency was the one that totally botched the response in the first place.

My guess is several factors played into the move, and probably for the same reasons Winters got released and not traded. He costs more than other guys, and nobody is interested in trading for a guy with that contract.
-
Not surprised. In a different year, they'd carry him through camp and trade for a 6th rounder.

This is not the kind of data that anyone has gathered in the past. But when you go to any playground or park in Northern NJ, it's noticeably emptier than at any prior year. It doesn't help that there are still barriers at the park entrances and mandatory face coverings regulations are still in effect, despite zero scientific evidence of a viral spread - outdoors and in 80+ weather. Yet, all those little things continue stoking the fear in the public, when the messaging should be that it's safe to go outside.
-
Sure, visit any town in Bergen & Essex counties and you will find it. You may also ask Murphy why masks are still required in open air parks.

It had the desired effect of keeping the scared people scared. There are still many families who haven't left the perimeters of their yards since March. There are still people who are afraid to let their kids out and play. Glad that you're not scared, but that doesn't mean that other people are being rational about this virus, because the negative stories always outnumber the positive ones.

The graph in the tweet is the SETAC data on general hospital bed use. So if there's a bone to pick with the graphs is that the mayor was discussing ICUs, while SETAC data is total beds. But there's a high correlation between the two. You just focused on the relatively flat 7-day line, which is correct BTW. Which is more to the point. The press runs from one scary story to another, without any follow up to what happened to the original scary story, especially when things turned out better than what they thought. It reminds me of a scene in Shrek where the crowds run from one Starbucks to another across the street. If the press did its job, there wouldn't be so much panic in the country. Case in point is NJ, which just rolled back some safety guidelines because on one day last week, the infections grew by 100 more than the rolling 3-day average. Never mind that the average is back to the low figures and that hospitalizations aren't an issue, it's time to lock every one down again.
