  1. The only amazing thing is that it took this long for other teams to start looking at the Patriots staff as good coaches. And, Charlie Weis, one of the best coaches around period, is leaving the NFL!
  2. For whatever reason, the Bills have gone away from the idea of having chiseled monsters on their OL like they had in the Super Bowl years (back then the Bills OL used to be known as the most in-shape, athletic group of body-builders that would kick people's asses for 60 minutes in the entire NFL) and decided to go with bigger tubs of goo that are too slow footed and disinterested to compete. The OL is the engine of a football team, so it is amazing that it has gotten so little attention. I can't blame Donahoe entirely for that because it started under Butler, but certainly he has done very little to fix it -- and the joke OL coaches the Bills have hired up until this year under Donahoe, oh my. I can't blame McNally because I know he is one of the best OL coaches football has ever seen. But, a large part of the blame has to go to the players themselves -- they just aren't good enough to compete in this league.
  3. A #4 pick overall, that not only will never be a premier left tackle, but doesn't have the nasty streak one wants in a right tackle either. The pre-draft, he's a concrete stevestojan house with ballerina feet is showing to be nothing but hype. He's a bust any way one looks at it. Throwing away a #4 pick for a guy who might be an average guard if not a backup is nothing but a huge mistake.
  4. If I'm not mistaken the Bills are the only team in the NFL without a TD on the ground. And they are a smashmouth running team?????? Unbillievable!
  5. The offensive line cannot block and the defensive line cannot put on any pressure. With that crappy combination, one will lose damn near every time out in the NFL. It's not rocket science. The Bills just do not have the horses to compete in this league in 2004.
  6. Why so positive? Just teasing, Bill. I figured this season was lost the minute I heard JP broke his leg. <sigh>
  7. When the player is a veteran, is buried on the depth chart, (apparently) isn't working hard, isn't picking up the offense as fast as some younger guys, doesn't contribute meaningfully on special teams, etc. Well, the coach shows that guy the door, plain and simple. It's not like one can't go out and find a decent, capable 4th or 5th receiver out there. Will Shaw produce for the Patriots? It could happen. Easily. He just got a message on motivation and he's going to a good team with great coaches and will have to prove himself. Why wouldn't he want to stick around in NE and maybe get a taste of a Super Bowl?
  8. Oh gosh, don't even go there with Weis. Anybody else recall the Bills passing on the hot commodity of the moment Marvin Lewis? (Well, there is the rumor that Lewis wasn't interested, but that rings a little odd.) Lewis has done pretty good turning around the garbage scowl in Cincinnati. Who knows, but it wouldn't be all that surprising to see Charlie Weis turning around somebody else's garbage scowl as the head man next season. Not surprising at all.
  9. Spread the field and put Mr. Cement Shoes in the shotgun. Tie the OL's arms and legs together so they won't run away from the defenders blitzing up the middle.
  10. On Mularkey: Isn't it time to get over the "1st year jitters" excuse already? Every other 1st year coach in the league has 1 win already.
  11. How can that be effective leadership? The troops aren't executing the plan, etc. and the leader just pats them on the back and says, "Good job." Sounds like a guaranteed recipe for failure. Everybody pretending things are running along smoothly while the competition kicks your ass. What's the name of this course? "6 effective ways to run your company into the abyss"? "How to lead like a loser"?
  12. Telling quote: Who would you blame? "Me." Newsflash to Tom the Infallible Genius: You are now *officially* on the hot seat. Thanks for fixing the cap, but the product is lousy.
  13. The 5 stiffs that make up the OL...
  14. Well, the Dolphins have no offense but they still have a very good defense. I don't really see the Bills offense doing much against the Dolphins defense. The game probably comes down to a shanked punt and which defense can score.
  15. In all seriousness, the Postons have to be some of the worst agents out there. Their track record is abysmal.
  16. How can anyone say the line is "playing well"? The Bills are in the bottom 10 in rushing offense, passing offense, and scoring offense. OK, maybe you can pin the passing game all on Bledsoe, but how is he a factor in the completely crappy running game? Of course, Travis Henry takes the heat for that. The line would be so much better with a new QB and RB.
  17. The only problem is the word "this"... Nope, they won't win the Super Bowl this year. And it's unlikely next Feb as well. The Bills will win a Super Bowl some year.
  18. Is Bledsoe done? That's the multi-million dollar question. The Bills didn't think so and brought him back... I don't know. He seems to be glacial slow all too often. Not just his feet, but his decision making. His mechanics are really terrible much of the time. (Poor footwork, holds the ball *way* too low, etc.) For that matter, what the fug is Ralph paying Sam Wyche for? On the other hand, the offensive line is just plain garbage. Unblocked people coming in through the middle of the line just should not be happening when everybody knows the QB is a "pure pocket QB" and has zero mobility. Fault the line's talent and manhood, sure. It's a collection of overpaid, over rated guys that are out of shape, stiff, weak, and demonstrably worse athletes than the people they face off against. Fault the coaching staff and their collective intelligence, sure. They don't seem to be capable of adjusting the blocking schemes to what the defense is doing. (I thought we got rid of the nimrod high school assistant wannabes coaching the OL this year?) Fault the arrogant GM/Pres., sure. But that means there is enough blame to go around to everybody that Drew Bledsoe is not and should not be the only one taking the heat for the continuing saga of a lousy offense. Watching Bledsoe, you have to say his best days are in the rear view mirror. I don't see him taking this team to the playoffs any time soon. On the other hand, I can't really blame everything on him either. It may be that he really does have enough wiggle to move around a pocket and make plays. But, damn, with the Bills there just is no pocket to wiggle around in. The OL is so poor it looks like the Bills are playing 18, 19, 20 guys on the defensive side of the ball. Who's covering the receivers and who's blocked if Bledsoe is buried under an avalanche of defenders as soon as the snap hits his hands?
  19. The practices are full of crispy cremes? I don't know. 4th and 3, call a timeout and everybody runs a different play? That doesn't seem real crisp. The adjustments up front were non-existant. On the positive side, I was glad to see the much maligned Jerry Gray really going after it with his troops today. On the other hand, it'd be nice to not have to blitz to generate any semblance of pressure at all.
  20. Why not? It's going to take more time to get better players in here. 2 or 3 years doesn't seem like it is too far off. Even they could rush J.P. back and start him tomorrow, it's going to take him time. If he can even play. Reality can be harsh, but the Bills don't have the players at this time.
  21. Ouch. The Bengals of the 90s.
  22. Start making plans for the Toilet Bowl.
  23. I noticed Williams helping block or getting help on blocks with other defenders running right by him countless times today. Harrison blitzed untouched through the right side of the line what seemed like 100 times in a row. I don't know whether it was all Fat Mike or the other idiots on the line, but it was simply pathetic.
  24. For as high as he was drafted, he is a serious disappointment. He's not as good as the guy the Vikings got playing LT; and, oh, despite the pre-draft non-sense he still doesn't play LT.
